What an amazing hat store! I was looking for a particular kind of hat, as I collect them (and wear them). This place has a plethora of hats! Rich was super helpful and knowledgeable, and has own the store for over 30 years (I believe). I only had to describe what I was looking for and he took me right to the hat I wanted. Prices are very reasonable, compared to online stores. And not only he has hats, but he also has accessories for them. A great store for hats. The only local one I know that has a selection of just about everything. Caps, fedoras, pork pies, bowlers, top hats, and cowboy hats. Winter or summer. Felt or straw. All colors. And great, personalized, attentive service, all at reasonable prices. I went in with two cowboy hats: one of my own, which needed relining; and one that had belonged to my father that I wanted reshaped. The owner reshaped the one hat for me immediately on premises at no charge. The second took three or four days and returned with a perfectly fitting leather liner. The charge was $35 and turned the hat from something unwearable into something I wear most every day. The store also stocks a fine selection of hatbands. I moved up from a two strand horse tail to a four strand. It definitely improved the look of my hat. I also saw a fedora, made a note of it, and slipped it to my wife as a hint for birthday or Christmas. Many of the western and hat stores in Phoenix and Scottsdale have closed over the last few years. I am so pleased that this store remains and recommend it to anybody interested in browsing a new hat or repairing or improving an old one. read more

I have a Bailey straw hat that I purchased at Heritage less than a month ago. Not an inexpensive hat. It began to get lumpy and uneven around the brim almost immediately. I took it in the shop today and the owner told me it was just the nature of the hat and that I should steam the brim in an effort to fix the defects. He made a half hearted effort to steam out the lumps and handed it back to me. Since they have a no return policy I guess I'm stuck with an $85 straw hat that is so misshapen I'm embarrassed to wear it anywhere. I have recently begun wearing hats everyday. I won't be purchasing any other hats from Heritage. If you expect good customer service take your business elsewhere. The owner may think it's clever to refuse to stand behind his products but he lost my business and may lose yours after you read this. One more retailer that will soon be put out of business by online companies that stand behind their products. read more

My son brought his Stetson hat here to be reshaped. We bought the hat in a Vintage store in Wyoming. No one in Laramie would touch the hat to reshape it. When we got home to the valley my son found this shop. We popped in today and the owner took care of it straight away. It was amazing to see his level of skill in action. I enjoyed his selection of molds and him telling us the history behind them. I asked what hat would look good on me and his response was none. Owners a dog lover which makes him a class act in my world. My son was so happy with his new crown shape. The price was beyond fair. read more

First of all, I want to call total baloney on the ONE negative review from Sophia M. I've known Rich for 30 years and (1) He doesn't curse; (2) he's no liar; (3) is not aggressive. If her father wasn't satisfied, then he wasn't satisfied - some people never are. But I know Rich never would have treated a customer like that, even one who wasn't satisfied. As far as this business and its owner: top notch. There's a reason why people come from all over to Heritage Hats and Hollywood has sought Rich out for his inventory and service: it's all top notch. I stopped by Heritage hats today because I needed a new hat for work. I went in not knowing too much about the different styles/types of hats, but was pretty set on a pinch front based on the look. When I went inside I was overwhelmed by their inventory! Richard showed me all the different hats and educated me on each one. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. He answered all my questions and was very friendly! I ended up purchasing a gambler hat with a large brim to protect me from the sun! This was after I probably tried on close to 50 different types of hats. I am extremely picky, but Richard was patient and right there the entire time. I could not be happier! After visiting Heritage, it is my new gold standard. The store offers the same selection as Meyer, but a higher level of customer service. I would just like to say that I have known Rich for years. I have met many racist people and I can assure you that Rich is not one of them. I think it is very unfair to judge someone's character on the use of one word taken out of context in a short conversation that occurred on first meeting.I am certain that Rich learned something from all of this and will never use the word again in any context. He is not the sort of person that would say anything that would intentionally hurt someone's feelings. I also know for a fact that he donates money and volunteers at a local food bank. I have somewhat of a hat addiction and unfortunately in the Phoenix Metro area the pickings are very slim for a hat store that offers a wide variety of hats outside of the Cowboy variety. So when I discovered Heritage Hat Company I was pleasantly surprised. The store is quite large with the entire front room dedicated to western style hats. While this is not my thing it appeared as though you would have no problem finding a suitable one. Now the back room is where I discovered what I was looking for. Fedoras, Trilby's, Pork Pies, Flat Caps, Boaters, Derby's, Bowlers, Panamas and many more. The color and style selection is actually overwhelming. I suggest going in with some time on your hands to really look around and try on the different styles. I ended up picking out a wool felt Stingy Fedora and a crush-able woven Stingy Fedora. Rich, the owner, applied a free stain guard to both hats. I also appreciated that Rich does not hover around while you are browsing, but offers just the right amount of assistance. It's often amazed me that we appear to have so few hat shops for the UV intensive lifestyle we have here. The large outdoor outfitters have a limited range, both in size and style, and ordering mail order is a great way to end up with an ill fitting hat. This was the second true hat store I have been to. My first experience was with Goorin's in San Francisco and the second was Heritage Hat. By "true" I mean a hat store that sells all sorts of quality hats that are not affiliated with a professional sports franchise. These hats are meant for style. The giant "HATS" sign gives it away... Heritage Hats sells HATS! When Shara (girlfriend) and I first walked in we were welcomed by a sea of various western/cowboy hats. Not my speed, but I'm sure many would appreciate the collection. The adjacent room was filled with numerous fedoras and panama styled hats (my speed). I was looking for a specific style for an event that Shara and I are going to attend and I had a difficult time choosing the best of many hats. I ended up choosing two. I was extremely pleased with my purchase and will return soon. The only reason I rated Heritage Hat with 4 stars is because of the lack of women's styles.
