We had an amazing dinner here, the staff were kind and easy going, views are unbeatable and delicious food! We sat at the bar and had the scallops with farro risotto, petrale sole with mashed potatoes and veggies and a bottle of Navarro Chardonnay. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. Would definitely come back again!

From the staff, to the ambiance, to the views, to the food - we loved everything about our stay at Heritage house. We at the chicken Caesar salad, chicken tenders, pesto pasta, and the burger more than once during our time there. Once you get to heritage house, there is no need to go anywhere else!

All my friends and I kept saying, "I think we died," because it truly felt like heaven. We were greeted right away with an incredible sunset view. While one friend checked in, my other friend and I walked outside the hotel restaurant to the patio, where there was a fire pit. We sat down and almost immediately one of the staff members asked if we wanted anything to drink or eat. Of course, we started with dirty martinis and they were delicious! We also tried the seafood pasta, Brussels sprouts, and lobster bisque. I'd probably skip the lobster bisque next time, but everything else was amazing. Our waiter, I believe his name was Duck, was so friendly and attentive and made the experience even better. Our room was pretty big, with a spacious shower, and the beds were surprisingly very comfortable. Breakfast was included with our stay and was pretty decent - the waffle maker was a big hit for us. We walked around the area, and I swear every direction we went had a beautiful view. We felt completely at peace the entire time. It's wild that a place this beautiful is only about a 3 hour drive from San Francisco. We're already talking about coming back next year!

There's absolutely no reason this place shouldn't be 5 stars. It's the only place my husband and I will stay when we come to Mendo because it's just extraordinary. The property is the best in the area, and the rooms are all updated and luxury. I love this place so so much.

We have been coming to Heritage house for quite some time now and it never disappoints. It's a place where you can relax . Take time to take in the breath taking views the resorts has to offer. We Love coming to Heritage House Resort. We stayed in one of the rooms with an amazing view of the ocean. The room and bathroom are spacious. I will definitely will continue coming back. Until next time. Chao!

Absolutely beautiful views but not much else. There was a surprising lack of thoughtful design for a four star class hotel. For example, the TV wasn't connected to the internet (and seemed to be blocked from doing so when we tried), preventing us from casting our streaming services. We watched cable TV with ads. There's no business center or anywhere to sit if you need to do any work after checkout but before leaving. There's no pool or hot tub, although I think some of the rooms have private ones. The continental breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room but not significantly different from elevated from what you might see at a 3 star hotel. Ultimately, you're paying for the views, which are similar to the views you can see from free beaches all along the coast.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at Heritage House Resort, we got the most amazing room overlooking the water. Everything was clean, the staff there were incredibly helpful and nice, the property was well kept (there were workers outside cleaning up the landscaping constantly while we were there and it looked the part). They were dog friendly which was a large part of the reason we decided to choose this resort in particular and handed us a nice doggy bag on our arrival. Ananda who is in charge of sales/events was timely with her responses and was super sweet. My fiancé and I got engaged by the water and are looking forward to a trip back up there soon!

First of all, if you are traveling up from the Bay Area, take Hwy 1 one way and 128 the other if you have the time. Two different beautiful windy drives. Took the 2 hour 45 min drive on a Friday after work and it was gorgeous. FYI when we turned off 101 to 128 and descended the next 30 min to the coast the temperature dropped from 79 to 56. We arrived ahead of the sunset and were greeted by "Duck" who offered us water and cookies (note office closes at 10 and kitchen closes at 9). We were assigned room 16 which was at the far complex on top of the hill. 3 min walk to the main house and 3 min walk to the cliff and 10 min walk to the private beach. We found a bottle of complimentary champagne upon arrival. The room has been tastefully upgraded and as it is at the top of the hill has the most private deck and 270 degree views. BTW if you see pictures of a beautiful soaking tubs to sit it as you watch the sunset those are rooms 47-50. And if you are a film buff for the movie Same Time Next Year, that is room 43. Incredibly romantic, it is a quiet place. Probably ran into maybe a half dozen couples outside of the dining area and bar as most people are wandering the grounds or sitting cozily by their electric fireplace. Even spent an hour one morning down at the beach taking photos and did not run into a soul The place is well-behaved dog friendly although I didn't bring one and could have easily seen my dog enjoying himself. Other cool points: Your resort fee includes 4 main things: 1) Internet if you can escape connectivity which I did, 2) In-room Keurig, 3) breakfast buffet and 4) morning yoga I took advantage of all 4 things and breakfast had a little of everything. I even took chocolate croissants back to the room for the evening and brought back some champagne from a local winery and drank it while watching the sunset in front of the fireplace. Again most rooms are part of a complex. Room 16 is part of the La Maison complex which I highly recommend. Definitely would come back as I'd like to try maybe one of their premium bathroom rooms or something else similarly unique. Heritage House Resort has that B&B feel with resort luxuries and privacy. Staff are friendly and helpful, but remain appropriately behind the scenes so as not to interrupt your peace. I was even meditating in the meadow and a couple of the room service people in their golf cart slowed down and lowered their voices to a whisper. Later I saw them and they greeted me with a knowing smile. Notes: recommend no oversized trucks or vehicles as the property roads are very narrow. Of course with every resort there is some wear and tear especially in a coastal environment with salt air. The lock on our front door was tricky at first. While no screen doors, there is no need to leave the sliding doors open (mosquitos or other bugs can enter the room). Old shower plumbing was visible (handheld hose) but would never have used it as rain head shower was perfect! Biggest pet peeve - too many guests wearing Dodger caps (jk)

My fiancé and I had the most incredible experience staying at the Heritage House Resort for his birthday! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such warmth and attention. The amenities were fantastic, and we especially loved our hot tub room, which had breathtaking views of the ocean and a cliffside. Waking up to that sunrise was truly unforgettable. Anya, the receptionist, made our check-in process so smooth and easy. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Later on, we had the pleasure of speaking with Duck, who gave us some great tips and tricks for making the most of our stay. His recommendations were spot-on and really enhanced our experience. We left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and we can't wait to return! The Heritage House Resort made this trip so special, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway. My husband and me have been going to Heritage House for many years. We just returned from a wonderful five nights in January. From the amazing front desk staff, Sarah, Anya, Duck, Matt, to the wonderful restaurant and bar staff, Julien, Dory, Chef(name unknown)... this place continues to be one of our favorite destinations. If you love super Duper down to earth and kind people, epic ocean views from every room(we have been in about eight of them over the years)...and love nature, peacefulness, cozy fireplaces... this is a must try adventure for you. The dining experience available on the property in their restaurant provides buffet breakfast (with the room cost), and absolutely stunning dinner's prepared by a French chef. I want to mention names of all the kind people that greet us there every time we come. Sarah Custer is the general manager and a delight to speak with, a very special lady!!! She always makes us feel like VIP's(we are not?!?)hah Front desk staff are to be applauded: Anya, cheerful, delightful and accommodating...wonderful cheerful & helpful! Duck is a fine fellow who is usually there at night and remembers our names every time we show up, eager to help and makes sure we are comfortable(: Dory and Julien made our dining experience extraordinary... friendly and sweet and great conversations. True professionals while being truly friendly! Matt--Sweet young man at front desk(: From the friendly faces to the magnificent atmosphere, comfy rooms and new amazing beds, this is our Gem by the ocean, and all the staff are Diamonds in the seamist

We had the best weekend away at the Heritage House. We didn't stay at the actual hotel, instead we rented one of the cottages on the property, and it was the perfect size for my family and my mother-in-law to stay. It was also really nice to have a kitchen with young kids. The deck opened up to a wooded area, so it really felt like we had privacy. The hotel was so nice and accommodating, they really felt like they went above and beyond to give us recommendations for places to eat, and things to do in the area. We were also totally blown away by the breakfast buffet that they had in the morning. It was one of the best hotel breakfast buffets that I've ever had, they had fresh baked pastries and so many other delicious things to eat. It was included as part of our stay. It was a huge bonus, especially with kids. I highly recommend this as a place to stay especially if you're traveling with young kids. We can't wait to go back!

Just magnificent! There's a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property's wifi which is more than adequate - about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es. On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they'll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It's a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.

I then wonder how dirty the rest of the floor is so I take some paper towels and clean an area and this is what it looks like. I emailed the innkeeper and they responded right away and said they would have someone take care of it in the morning. When we come home from dinner I go to turn the light on in the porch area and it's out. So I again email the innkeeper and he responded quick and said he would have the manager of the day call me tomorrow. So I get a call from one of the owners who didn't seem shocked and was semi apologetic. This cabin was over $400 a night and I would expect a clean and safe room. I asked for a discount and was offered a discount on a future stay and I said I would not be going there again and all he said was "okay and bye" and hung up. So some other thing's wrong in this cabin, slider door to patio, lock broken so the lock is a stick. Shower head is about to come off the wall. I will post pictures of that. The entire property is very unkempt, spider webs and weeds everywhere. Not worth the price we paid.

Jarred at the restaurant packed me a dessert knowing I was full, which I really appreciated. The room also had chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine waiting for us, which was a great birthday touch. My only issue was the last night. When we got back after a long day, there were no other charging spots available, so we used the charger near our room. Our Tesla was actively charging with an adapter. Around 8 that evening, I was already in bed when the front desk called and then knocked asking us to move the car so another guest could use that charger. Since it was not a Tesla charger, I think there may have been an assumption that we were just parked there, but the car was actually charging. To me, if a car is actively charging, common sense would be to let it finish. If it was fully charged and still sitting there the next morning, I would completely understand bringing it up then. Asking us to move that evening while the car was actively charging felt like poor judgment, especially since there were no other charging spots available when we got back. I did move the car a few minutes later, but it was frustrating and not a great way to end an otherwise really good birthday stay. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel. Great staff, great restaurant and a very nice stay.

I've stayed at this B&B several…read moretimes over the past 20 years and the current (offsite and very distant) ownership group is quickly putting the final nail in the proverbial coffin. I'll start with the biggest issue. A total lack of transparency. When we booked our multi-nite stay, there was no notice of ongoing construction on the exterior deck AND the desk clerk said nothing about it when we checked in. The noise was off and on all day, including weekends. I'm not simply referring to hammering and sawing. The crew was playing music and SINGING along...right outside our windows. When we complained about this to 3 different desk clerks, all claimed ignorance and/or that they had "no control" over the situation". Similar situation during breakfast, when we were told they were out of 2-4 items on the menu EVERY morning. Regarding the menu, the entre descriptions were generally incorrect as what we were served never matched the entre description on the menu. Update the menu! The lack of communication among and between staff was remarkable and led to missed accommodations, confirmations or simply not getting a response at all. We learned quickly that we needed to tell every single staff member that we could find about any concern or question we had. Ridiculous. Regarding staff, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and simply assume that they are struggling, greatly, obtaining and/or retaining staff. The staff seemed very poorly trained on most functions, including basic customer service. They were pleasant, but uninformed often incapable, and totally unaccountable. This is a management issue, 100%. One of my fondest memories of the Brewery Gulch Inn has always been the setting and the current management is systematically destroying it. A casual look around the property, let alone a stroll, and you will see piles of debris, construction, or otherwise, dilapidated or decaying sitting areas, unkempt landscaping, and a general lack of attention. For those of us who remember the Brewery Gulch Inn from years past, this is one of the saddest parts of my review. On the positive/neutral side, the rooms are fairly well maintained (shower fixtures, light fixtures need attention), carpet is overdue for replacement). Housekeeping is attentive and thorough. For an Inn on the Mendocino coast that's charging upwards of $800-900 per night, depending on the room and season, it's shocking the entity that owns the Brewery Gulch Inn is allowing this to happen (and after talking with some other establishments in the area, I felt like the last to know). In summary, there are many locations to choose from in the area that provide a setting with service that match the price. The Brewery Gulch Inn is not one of them. Buyer beware.
