I had a very frustrating experience with Affinity Gas regarding a water leak issue on my tankless…read morewater heater. I initially called them because water was collecting on top of the unit. The technician came out on February 2nd and diagnosed the problem as the intake pipe, saying it was taking on water due to its slope/location. I paid $155 for the diagnostic and an additional $150 to have the pipe cut/adjusted. I was told this would resolve the issue. That same night, water was still dripping down and collecting on the water heater -- the problem was not fixed. I called them back within their 30-day warranty period to recheck the issue. This time, I was told the real problem was actually the exhaust pipe, which they said was not glued, was the wrong type of pipe, and was no longer code-compliant. They then quoted $1,600 to redo it entirely. My concern is that if the exhaust pipe was visibly incorrect and not glued, this should have been identified during the original diagnostic visit, especially since venting was already being inspected. I was not even asking for the original $150 repair to be refunded -- I simply expected the warranty visit to be honored. Despite this, I was charged another $95 just for them to come back and tell me it was a different issue. Charging an additional service fee when the initial diagnosis was incorrect and the issue persisted immediately feels unfair and unprofessional. I expected better troubleshooting and accountability, especially after paying for a diagnostic and being within the warranty window. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend based on this experience.

$350 to hook up an oven!! That's highway robbery in my book. We were told a $95 visit, but the…read moreservice call charge was not an honest estimate. I spoke with Matt, the company owner, asking him why he was charging so much to simply hook up an oven? He wouldn't answer. Then he told my daughters's college roommate, "I would have done it for free, but not after Being challenged on the price. " I would not recommend this company without an upfront written estimate.

Then they "revised" my quote to over three times what the original quote was. Needless to say, I used someone else and they came in just a bit higher than the original quote from Taylor. After calling and meeting with a different HVAC contractor, in less than a week my mini split system was professionally installed and up and running. Btw, I'm a retired contractor who has built over 600 homes and businesses in my career.

After emailing this business about the service I was given and talking to one of the owners via phone with no resolve, I just want to speak of the customer service I personally received. I researched companies and their reviews before making my decision to use this company. I called this company on a Sunday and they told me it would be a lot cheaper if they came out on a weekday, so I scheduled to have them come out the next morning. They came to my house and gave me 2 options for the repair or replacement of my AC, I chose the option of repair because the technician told me his machine didn't detect any leaks and that Freon and a new capacitor should give me at least another few months out of this AC. Three weeks later I came back from seeing my daughter and grandchildren and the AC was not working. I called the company and the technician I reached said he would come out but he would have to charge me another service fee and I explained I had paid $398 for a service that didn't work. He said basically that is their policy and I felt like I was in a position to just accept that. The 2nd technician found no leak and told me that there might be a leak in the walls and/or I probably need a new AC. I told him I wish I would've been told that the 1st time and asked if they could put, the now $519 I had already paid them, towards a new AC and I was told that the money had already went towards the capacitor and Freon and he informed me that their technicians make little to no money off service calls like mine. So when he left my house that day I had now spent $519 and I was sitting in a house that was so hot. I got to say that was an awful feeling. In the meantime, while I was waiting for the technician to get to my house the original technician called because I had called him 1st that day. I explained who I was and told him that I came back from my daughter's and the AC wasn't working, right away he got very defensive and told me that he had told me that what he did might not be the fix. I felt uncomfortable with his tone and just told him ok and ended the call by saying goodbye and he said nothing and just hung up. The next day I decided to email the company for some resolve and told them how I felt as a customer. The owner's wife wrote me back and suggested I read the bottom of my invoice. The owner also called me and explained to me that although he didn't think I was dishonest, he was sure that his technician would have never told me that the service he did to my AC might not work. He basically said I had been told that all the Freon might leak right out and that I had agreed to that. He told me that I misunderstood things. I told him I felt taken advantage of and was that the normal procedure for their company to put Freon in an AC with a huge possibility it would leak right out into the atmosphere, so that the customer would now be forced to pay a 2nd service fee or be without AC? He said no, but added that this sometimes happens when customers make the cheaper decision. I made the decision because the 1st technician/AC professional told me he detected no leaks and that with Freon and a new capacitor my AC should run fine. But like I said, the owner said his technician would have never told me that. I can tell you I don't know enough about the AC world to make up what the technician told me and I did not misunderstand his words. Anyways, I told the owner thank you for his time and we ended the call. A couple days later my AC was diagnosed (by another company), with a totally different problem and now my pup and I are back in a comfortable house. I don't want to bring the other company in to this review just because I don't think it's the proper thing to do here. Here I just want this newer company to know how I felt with my experience and help anyone else that may have AC problems know what situation they may be put in, in hopes that they can prevent it ahead of time. I wish this company all the best moving forward and hope this review helps improve their communication with future customers. (I attached the invoice to show exactly what I was informed when the company came out to diagnose/repair my AC the 1st time.)
