After doing my research as a diligent pre-med, Touro has an osteopathic medical school with other graduate programs as well. Interested in their school, my friend and I scheduled a shadowing opportunity with their outreach admin/faculty. One of the shadowing opportunities they offer is for the OMM Lab (osteopathic manipulative medicine) where one can sit in their medical school class alongside their real medical students and learn! I shadowed one of their cranial OMM labs, and it was fascinating especially since I was into neurobio/psych. Their professor was very thorough in explaining the various ways on how to locate cranial anatomy and how to connect with the patient. Each student rotated and had a chance to practice OMM and experience it as well. From the time of initial contact to the end of my shadowing, Touro faculty and students were very accommodating and positively receptive. Big shoutouts to my medical student mentors, Jessie and Yvonne, who showed me the ropes and Jessie even performed OMM on me! Great time with wonderful people!

She did not hover over me while doing my return demonstrations which gave me confidence and autonomy. Its scary sticking a needle in someone, but she made me feel good about it. I feel like I learned a lot and feel great going out in to the work to perform blood withdrawal and IV insertion on my patients. I HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone in the medical profession. Theory is around 8 days and the rest is clinical. A lot of past comments have concerns about the old mannequins (which was true) but they just got new ones and are really nice! Not even a month into it and I was regretting and dragging my feet to in everyday. My 1st instructor taught use more about his personal life then the actual subject. Didnt follow the way he was supposed to teach us whiched caused a big issue for those who were going to go into the next class. He passed everyone regardless. Had a motor project and passed us all even though none of us got the motor to work. He didnt really even try to get it running. You don't learn in the traditional way. You don't learn from A-Z. They will throw you in wherever the class is currently at. So you maybe learning the very end of the book before you even learn the beginning of the book which is bad if you are completely new to the subject and don't have any knowledge or experience. You don't jump into HVAC right away which is normal. You'll be doing electrical theory but my instructor didn't even go over HVAC electrical. I was learning more how to be an electrician then HVAC technician. Once I got into HVAC I was told in was going to take my certification test at the end of that month. Which is beyond stupid. They gave me a study packet to help prepare me for the test. By the time I had to take the test I failed of course but wasnt worried. Was told i had 3 attempts to take the test. The very next day after I took the 1st test i was told to take it again, and again I failed. The day after the 2nd test I was told to take it again and use the study packet because the head of the campus wants us to pass. Probably to give him a bonus or something like that. Well I'm not going to pay them to cheat on my future. I tried to talk them but the head of the campus "wasn't in today". I tired to call and kept going in to talk to him about why they wanted me to cheat. But kept getting the same response. I called them and told them I was dropping out because the cheating was the last straw. Then it seemed like they actually cared about my problem. I finally got calls back from the school and told them why I was leaving but the lady seemed not to really be paying attention and wanted me to go in and sit down with the head of the campus. I wasn't going to waste my time with them anymore. Said in was going to go in but didn't. I told them about it and they didn't seem to care until I left.

They were always helpful, patient, and really knew what they were talking about. They made learning fun and made sure we felt prepared every step of the way. Because of this program, I was able to pass my AMCA certification exam, learn so many new skills, and make friendships that I'll have for a long time. I genuinely like attending Solano Community College. The campus environment is great, and I've had…read morea positive experience overall with the classes I've taken here. However, there are some major administrative and counseling bottlenecks that desperately need to be addressed. First, the certificate processing timeline is incredibly frustrating. Even if you have completed all the required courses numerous semesters prior, you are left waiting for more than 4 months just for a Certificate of Achievement to be processed. For students trying to jump into the workforce or move forward with their careers, this kind of delay is unacceptable. Second, dealing with the counseling department can be a real headache. Many of the counselors seem to have very little knowledge about specific program requirements, and you often get the run-around when you're simply trying to get clear answers to achieve your educational goals. You really have to do your own heavy lifting and research to make sure you're on the right track. I want to love SCC, but the school really needs to step up its administrative efficiency and better train its counseling staff to support students who are doing the work to graduate.

So you need to travel to Fairfield to get them...along with other supplies that you need. 3) For a new building, they should've incorporated some "green" elements. The school I attend regularly (Ohlone College) just opened up a new campus in Newark and it's LEED certified (look it up). It opened up early this year, too. So...hmm...idk, I think it could've been constructed better. 4) Oh, and they don't sell real food.
