Such a cute, kitchy motor lodge. Every room has a little sitting area directly outside and there's a large communal sitting area behind the lodge overlooking a really peaceful field. Check in is fast and very friendly and includes an espresso, water, or a can of Lone Star. How welcoming and very Texas. The rooms are not large, but are comfortable and clean. We had a full (aparment sized) kitchen in ours. The vibe was definitely retro & Texan. Sweet dinette, low slung couch, and pink lamps alongside a cow hide rug. Loved having the pocket door between the living area and bedroom. We napped in complete darkness in the afternoon, then were able to make a little midnight snack well after all the restaurants closed. Is it luxury accommodation? Well, no, and you certainly don't pay for it. What you do get is a kind staff, a clean room, a comfy bed, and AC/heaters that work. We will be back.

Shocked by the good reviews of this place. Perhaps all the rooms are different, have had different upgrades? My room was awful. Lumpy bed, toilet was not flat to the floor and rocked back and forth. A rocking toilet is NOT good, I felt like I was in an ejector seat. Had to be careful sitting! I can't be sure but what looks like mold on wall behind toilet. All the water is hot even the cold water. Thin walls, spent one night listening to 3 kids next door jumping for hours on the floor and beds. And yet I paid about 50% more for this than my Hilton I had just left in San Antonio. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Quaint and partially remodeled. I imagine it has been finished by now. Clean and inexpensive. Kind of retro.

We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here.

After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Next time we go to Fredericksburg, we know where we will stay - at Barons Creekside!

The 2 Queen bed suite we booked had plenty of room with lots of seating areas for my family of 4 to spread out in. I wouldn't be surprised if a family of 6+ felt comfortable in this room as well. The pool area was very large and also had a ton of seating. My kids loved the pool area for its water slides and "waterfalls" around the small lazy river. As a mom, I loved that there were a couple toddler play areas of the pool for the kids to barely submerge and still play with the water. The complimentary breakfast had everything we needed with a picky eater in the family. On our next trip to Fredericksburg, we will definitely be back to this Hotel.

This hotel was worse than the last. When we got there, we checked in our room and there were poop stains in the toilet. There was also no cord for the phone so we couldn't even call the front desk. That made me think that the rest of the room was not cleaned. I called the front desk. They were not apologetic at all. They said that the cleaners were gone for the day and they would have to come in and clean it. I asked for another room so they gave us another room on the third floor. We went up to the room. Our key did not work so now we're standing outside with our luggage looking like we're lost. I called back to the front desk. She acts confused when I tell her that the key doesn't work. She comes to the room and opens the door with her master key and there is another family in the room already so now we're really looking lost, so all of us go back to our original room and she goes to get some supplies to clean the toilet. Determined to not have a bad trip we left to go visit the wineries while she cleaned the toilet. When we got back later on that night, the poop stains were gone, but the ring around the toilet was still there. I will not ever stay at this hotel again and I recommend everybody don't waste your money go somewhere else and have a great time. This hotel is not worth it.

The shower has a higher head and we liked the new laminate floors. We liked the two lounge chairs, chair and desk along with the microwave and mini fridge. Pretty much the previous review still stands, but I added a few more recent photos and comments So why still the 3 stars? The walls and ceilings are quite thin where you can hear someone tromping around upstairs and snoring in the room next to you as well as upstairs. People are allowed to bring their pets to the rooms which means you can listen to them bark in the room next to you. My morning shower was set to hot, but it was barely warm. We pulled back the sheets and the mattress pad where there was a small blood stain, hairs, and an oily stain near the center of the mattress. No room safe. Breakfast here is pretty much on par with the average Best Western except that the buffet room is very cramped and indoor dining is tight. The outdoor dining area is actually quite nice weather permitting. I personally would like to see either the breakfast eliminated and we pay less for the room or for it to be an exceptional breakfast and charge a little more. By being at the level of mediocrity it just inspires you to go somewhere else. Even the coffee was weak and watery. With all of that said, our 2 day stay was less than $480. For a comfortable relatively clean room with no musty smell, it seems worth it. If you want to enjoy your time here, stay on the second floor and have breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants. 31/2* for the money for an acceptable visit.

The lady at the checkin building was wonderful! She was very accommodating and put us on the first floor so I didn't have to climb stairs (back surgery in Dec). We stayed in room 4. Upon opening the door, I fell in love! This beautiful room was decorated with antique furniture and just felt cozy! The bed was so comfortable that I got the best nights sleep I've had in over 10 days! The shower was huge and the best water pressure! There is body soap, shampoo and conditioner provided that is made locally at their herb farm. I wanted to purchase from the office, but we were running short of time, so I'll be ordering online! There are robes for your use, that were soft and comfortable! I want one of those too! There is a keurig, microwave and a small refrigerator with a freezer. There is also 4 bottles of local wine on the counter, champagne and beer in the fridge and chips for purchase (mini bar). The room was quiet all night. This place isn't huge, so I felt like we were lucky to get a room here. We will be back in the spring so we can enjoy the beautiful porch area. This morning, we had a wonderful breakfast delivered in a basket! It was delicious! My only suggestion would be to add a boiled egg or sausage patty to have a little more protein with breakfast. Overall, I know the Winchester Lodge will definitely not disappoint!! Highly recommend!
