Located in Smyrna. Very simple to get here from the major highways. At first it seems a bit dull as we trek into the woods. Approaching the bridge that crosses the marsh grasses seem nice and then a long 3/4 mile hike along a singular path with no roundabout back to the point of origin. When we reached the view of the river (stream) it built up nticipationnfor what we saw towards the end of the trail a nice Mecca of cascading waterfalls. Nothing big but it was cool and pleasant to sit in. To top it off the end revealed a nice wooden covered bridge. read more

It was a beautiful day and we wanted to get outdoors and find somewhere new to explore. With a quick search, we came across this park. We have lived in the area for 5+ years and we are 5 minutes from this gem and didn't even know it! There is a stroller friendly trail nestled in between trees, and a wetlands area with elevated boardwalk. The trail parallels the Nickajack Creek which flows into the Chattahoochee River, so it is a fast flowing creek. We walked for an hour or so on this scenic path and sat under the gazebo for a moment after our little hike. It's so nice to discover something new and nearby. read more

Heritage Park is a great place to go for a walk. The trail is well maintained, and parallels Nickajack Creek. In the summer, you can get down into the creek to cool off. If you follow the trail far enough, you hey very close to the Silver Comet Trail and pass right through ruins of buildings destroyed during General Sherman's march to the sea. There are quite a few people who walk their dogs off leash, despite regulations to the contrary, so just fair warning. read more

Mom and I visited this park to take the dogs for a walk . It's a nice pathway with some pavement and some of it a big long bridge. It's a nice long walk for your dog or to get in some exercise . It's winter right now so not much to see as far as flowers and plants . But it's a nice park . read more

This is by far one of my favorite walking/jogging trails. The trail crosses over some wetlands and a creek, then follows along the creek several miles to the Concord Road Covered Bridge. If you want a little longer of a hike, you can walk up (to the right) Concord Road just a bit to one of the Silver Comet Trail access parking lots. Anyway, back to Heritage Park. I'm gonna label the parking as ample, since I've not been there nor passed by when the lot was full. There's a very nice community pavilion with bathrooms, as well as a walk way to an overlook. I think I also remember seeing a covered picnic pavilion. Since I'm usually there just to walk the trail, I've not closely paid attention to if in fact there is a covered picnic pavilion. The trail is more narrow than the "greenways" you might find around the metro, like Big Creek and Silver Comet. And the trail is not paved. It is well kept--cleared and well-constructed in the necessary areas. Scattered along the trail, overlooking the creek, are a few covered picnic benches--perfect for a sweet hike with a honey and a backpack full of goodies. Also, in some places are relatively easy access points to the creek. It's shallow enough to walk around in, and sometimes wide enough to skip rocks over. If you follow the trail all the way to Concord Road and back, it's just at or shy of three miles. The terrain is flat, so it's an easy trail to manage. And it's quiet. You'd never know that it ran alongside the East-West Connector. read more

Heritage Park isn't really a park. It's more of a trail, and what a nice, quiet trail it is. The entrance has a huge pavilion with lots of free parking. I never ran through the whole trail, but the parts I did looked nice. In the hot summer months, you'll run into several spiderwebs. Don't mind them, it's just scary spiders. They have bat houses too to control the insect population. Despite all the spiders and bats, you'll be bitten a lot. Even with the bug bites and spiderwebs wrapping my face, the trail feels remote and the scenery looks nice and pretty. read more

Looking for a hidden gem in Cobb County as an alternative to the always busy Silver Comet Trail? Well, Heritage Park may be the place that you're looking for! I have driven past Heritage Park about a few thousand times and never even thought about parking the car to check it out. The only indication that a park even exists is a pavillion and a sign indicating Heritage Park is there. It wasn't until a friend invited me to come along with her for a walk that I realized that there is so much more to this little area than meets the eye. There is ample parking and bathrooms available at the pavillion that is visible from Fontaine Road. The trails are not paved, but are well marked and in good condition. This little hiking trail has it all: bridges over the creeks and wetlands, picnic areas, a great view of the mill ruins, and observation areas overlooking the streams. There is an area that meets up with the Silver Comet Trail if you want to add a little mileage to your walk or jog. I have visited Heritage Park several times in the past couple of months. It a great place for me (and my dog) to get a little exercise and enjoy the peace and quiet. It has definitely become one of my most favorite places to visit on a sunny day! read more

This trail is truly about nature. Its unpaved and connects to the silver comet which is cool and there are some old ruins from the civil war in it. Bikes are not allowed. Be cautious if running bc of the rocks and roots. It's not as populated as the silver comet so I don't recommend going alone. read more

I've been walking the trail at Heritage Park periodically for a few years now, and it's one of my favorite nearby trails. I've been on a campaign to get more aerobic exercise lately, so I've been walking it every day for the past week. It runs along Nickajack Creek, and connects with the Silver Comet Trail at the old mill ruins on the creek. It's a beautiful little wooded trail along a gorgeous creek. When I increase the miles I'm walking, I intend to walk up the hill to the Silver Comet trail and walk an additional mile, then complete the route on the Heritage Park trail. As the previous reviewer mentioned, parking is ample, and restrooms and a water fountain are available. There's a small elevated picnic pavilion in back of the restroom facilities, and another one by the creek on the trail itself. read more

Nature trail, not much of a hike, but okay for a stroll. People frequently walk their dogs on this trail, and don't seem to understand the concept of picking up after them, so mind your feet. If you go past the ruins of the old mill, down the much narrower trail, you'll eventually come to the covered bridge on Concord. To the left, down a steep bank, are a set of falls on Nickajack Creek. Like someone else, said, I wouldn't recommend walking this trail alone as I've met some less than savory characters out there. read more

Perfect trail for an easy walk or jog. No bikes allowed. The path is gravel with some tree roots poking up. Park at the Heritage Park lot on Fontaine Rd. and you'll have access to a pavilion and bathrooms. The trail is about 3.5 miles round trip so if you stop to take in the scenery of the foliage and creek, it could take you 1.5 to 2 hrs to return. What I like to do is start at Heritage Park and once you get about 1.5 miles in, you will come to some abandoned mill ruins and paved access to the Silver Comet Trail. If you head uphill to access the SCT, you can go left to reach the Concord Rd parking lot a couple tenths of a mile. If you go right, you'll get to travel about 1.5 miles to reach the Fontaine Rd parking lot access point and Heritage Park is just down the road a few more minutes on the sidewalk. It makes a nice loop. I expect most people stop at the mill ruins and turn back or move onto the SCT. However, if you stay on the path along the creek, you can walk another 15 minutes. There are some great views of the creek and rapids below (best view in the Winter when the leaves are gone). You will end up at the covered bridge on Concord Rd. There is a plaque for the Battle of Ruff's Mill on July 4,1864. read more
