As a lover of museums, I just had to experience the Trap Music Museum. And what an experience . Now I've been to music museums before but this was different, especially with present day artists, most are still living and I am familiar with some of their music. I definitely learned a lot about the Atlanta and South music landscape. Could not leave without taking a picture of the famous pink car. Before leaving I also had the opportunity to do the escape room and baby that was an experience like none other. The entire experience includes a tour guide and he did not come to play with us. Lots of fun and puzzles to figure out. I am not sure if we made it out safely or not but I had a few good laughs. I would definitely recommend if you're into music and leaning about the culture. read more

The trap museum is a fun experience, but it does go by pretty quick. It is pricey in my opinion, the tickets are around $40 per person and when you arrive parking in the lot costs $20 (there isn't a lot of parking near by fyi). I enjoyed the artists' exhibits. They have all the cuts playing and the bar was the cherry on top for me, it was a vibe. They have food trucks in the back as well if you want to grab a bite to each during or after. I visited the Trap Music Museum during a quick 48 hour trip to Atlanta and unfortunately, the experience was more frustrating than fun. My friend purchased our tickets online, but didn't realize the museum didn't open until 4 PM. We arrived around 3 PM on a Friday and were confused to find only one car in the parking lot. We walked to the entrance only to find the doors locked. After checking the website, we saw that the museum opened at 4 PM, so we decided to wait in the car. Shortly after, a staff member came by to inform us that parking in the museum's lot costs $20. Considering we had already paid $33 per person for entry, this felt excessive. We ended up finding free parking down the street. When we returned around 4 PM, a long line had already formed with little to no shade in the area. It was hot, and the museum didn't let guests in until 4:15 PM. Security checked bags and purses before we were sent to the "store clerk" to confirm tickets. Then we were ushered into "Grandma's Living Room," where a lively staff member (playing "Grandma") went over the house rules. The museum itself was cute, but small. We explored everything in about 15 minutes. There were themed areas featuring artists like T.I., Nicki Minaj, Latto, Jeezy, and Future, along with a section highlighting the history of grillz. You exit through the bar, which felt more like a cash grab than a hospitality stop. We ordered two drinks and were given small plastic cups filled maybe a third of the way. The drinks tasted fine, but definitely didn't justify the $33.58 tab. I wasn't given an itemized bill and didn't realize a 20% gratuity was already included, so I added an additional tip. In the end, the whole experience felt overpriced and underwhelming. While the Trap Music Museum has a cool concept and some creative exhibits, the focus seemed more on squeezing money out of guests than providing a quality experience. Strange that the bar charges 20% tip without telling you and then asks for another tip on the card reader. No problem tipping but why ask for a tip twice? I see what they want to accomplish but they could have done way more. It was cool walking through each exhibit but it's super short. There was a line because unfortunately there was no entry times. First come first serve. Parking is NOT free. We paid $20 to park in the dirt. The bar is at the end and they say you cannot take your drinks outside unless you pay $7 for a plastic pouch bag. If that's the case they need to have the drinks first when you walk in. There are some interactive sections like making a video in one of the recording booths, tons of photo ops with the decor and the infamous pink caddy 2 Chainz had a his Trap House. Tip: Book an escape room ticket ($30 per person) during the week and you will get private entry to the museum as well. I heard it gets crazy on the weekend with lines etc so major time saver. Otherwise, the trap museum really dives into the trap culture and gives you insight into how trap and rap came to be. If you are a fan of hip hop then you would definitely enjoy this museum. The only bummer is they were filming a podcast so we weren't able to see two rooms but it was all good. The bar has some solid drinks and the bartender was so friendly. Pretty girls love trap was a good cocktail! The trap city cafe is also right next door that serves really good food and drinks so recommend post visit! Shout out to the escape room crew. First thing first if you plan on driving be aware they have a private parking lot but it is $20 to park in it, in addition to the cost of tickets. All ticket sales are online, and weekends are more expensive, so keep that in mind if you're planning a trip. The museum isn't super big, so personally I think the cost of the ticket a bit much, but I do think if you're going it is much more worth it to do the escape room. The escape room is two rooms of a trap house that you have to escape and it is super fun! They have paid actors that help you through the puzzles. There is tons of beautiful artwork in the museum and even more photo ops for anyone who is looking for something like that. This is a 18+ venue, with a full bar inside so you can really vibe in here with some friends. The merch is outside the exit so if you do want to take anything home make sure to stop there. read more

Extremelt loooong wait. We arrived at 1 ish and it was a like formed outside the building - as expected. As people were exiting they were telling us as we waited in line that it was not worth the wait. It was extremely hot outside! The line was in the beaming sun in 90 degree weather. No free water was given, no fans, just free paper towels handed out. We still waited despite the reviews from people exiting out. We paid $25 to go in - people were paying an extra $20 to skip the line. We decided not to pay an extra 20 so we waited for about 2 hours to get in. The museum was very small than I expected. Okay so when you finally finally get in it starts with I guess. TI a replica of a trap house living room. The next station is a makeshift drug kitchen. It was my first time in ATL and of course I had to check out the Trap Music Museum! My girls and I decided on doing the escape room on Memorial Day. The ticket also included the museum. Since the museum was technically closed but the escape room was open, they allowed us to experience the museum so it was EMPTY! Our Uber drivers even said they're used to lines being down the block to enter this place. I love hip hop culture as I grew up in it so it was fun learning more about it. There were plenty of photo ops, hip hop music and a bar. The museum was bigger than I initially thought as there are many different rooms with specific themes. My favorite room was in the back with all the old hip hop magazines on the wall. Now for the escape room, I wasn't sure what to expect. It was more of like an interactive experience where you don't have to do much to escape. We were only in two rooms and it lasted around 30 minutes. The actors were funny and played their part. This place is expensive!! Visited from Houston. Paid $20 to park plus $25 to get in like a club. We literally was in there for less than 2 hours, hell probably less than an 1 hour. Definitely for tourists and for people who isn't aware of trap. If you grew up in certain environments, this wasn't new. However, nice photo ops but definitely not worth the money. When in ATL, why not visit the Trap Music Museum? The concept and marketing are impressive. My friend and I purchased tickets in advance for "Sip & Trap Thursdays". We were a part of a group tour guide and sipped Prosecco (no glass, right from the bottle lol). The tour guide did a nice job and was entertaining! The Trap Museum is on the hood side, of course, lol, and I enjoyed the experience for what it was. I love hip-hop culture, and learning more about southern rappers was intriguing. This museum is so lit!!!!! It's definitely a must do when visiting Atlanta. It's a short museum so it doesn't take long. It's $30 at the door and $40 to park. The parking pissed me off I'm not going to lie but I guess. Once you're inside there's lots of southern music history! This is a museum for the culture by the culture and I loved it. They have a nice bar here with trap themed drinks and merchandise for purchase outside. Lots of photo opportunities and it was just an overall nice experience. This place was a huge disappointment. One of the major reasons I wanted to come to Atlanta was to visit this place, but I was extremely disappointed. I purchased the ticket ahead of time and we came around 6PM. As we were driving up, we noticed it was really crowded-- from reading previous reviews I noticed we could pay $20 bucks to skip the line, which we did; however, one of my relatives got into a disagreement with the security guard because he seemed to have a Napoleon complex. We made our way inside finally after paying the extra $20, we made our way inside where they scan your confirmation e-mail and make you purchase a mask for $5, if you do not have one. The place was extremely crowded and people just stand around, which makes it difficult to get photos or get up close to anything. They had various photos of different rappers, who were influential to the "trap" music scene, but I just didn't find it as through as it could have been. The museum is relatively small in size so there's not exactly much to see. I'll be honest, it may be worth the 20 bucks, but not the additional 20, for sure. It just was very cold and we didn't have a proper jacket, nor the desire to stand and wait in the cold. You also have to pay for parking, which seemed to be the theme everywhere I went in Atlanta, but that's another story. We probably stayed there 30-40 minutes and it was a huge waste of money. This museum was one of the top 3 reasons that I wanted to visit ATL because I LOVE trap music. Additionally, the whole museum provides a good amount of history and tons of photo ops throughout so you can #DoItForTheGram. Just a heads up -- it can got crowded and social distancing isn't very enforced. I purchased tickets online for the Escape The Trap game which includes tickets to the museum. We had the 12pm timeslot which is when the museum opens and arrived a few minutes earlier. We were able to check out the museum and buy drinks at the bar while we waited for the room to be setup (FYI, the Escape the Trap has a separate entrance on the side of the museum). They had a variety of cocktails at the bar and my favorite was the Pee-Lemminay but I was also a fan of the Dope Boy. Escape the Trap was the most fun "escape room" experience that I had! The actors were serious but also made us laugh most of the time. I definitely recommend trying it out, especially if you're visiting as a group. read more

Pros: Cool museum. Haven't seen anything like it. There is a bar inside to sit and vibe after viewing all the pieces. Lots of areas to take pictures. Some people are dancing around and enjoying the vibe. How you view the experience may correlate with who you come with. The area in the back has a few local people selling their merchandise and kids walking around selling water bottles . I think it's dope to support the hustle of others. Kind of ties into the idea of the trap life. Cons: Definitely not as big as I expected it would have been. The wait was almost two hours to get in and only took maybe 20 minutes to walk around and read/see/take pictures of everything . If I didn't buy tickets online i honestly would have left. The parking was $20 but you could also stop by the trap cafe afterwards. Overall I would still recommend to those who haven't been just for the experience and photo opportunities. Definitely a must visit for the culture. I read a lot of reviews before coming here and came on a Thursday for the sip & trap (happy hour) to avoid the wait times everyone kept talking about. I also took a Lyft to avoid the $20 parking. The sip & trap Thursdays is $30 and you get a drink ticket for one premium pre-made drink. We got the Pretty Flacko which was pretty good. Came here approximately a month ago with my cousins for the first time. It was a Sunday and we purchased the tickets in advance online the day of. We waited online upon arrival for about 15 minutes. Once inside, we were asked to present the confirmation code of our tickets. Of course the museum begins with T.I and transitions into various artists like Pusha T, Jeezy, Future, etc. The museum essentially represents a majority of music artists (New and Old) that impacted the culture to some degree. It's important to have your camera app open as you move the museum because people are all around ready to take a photo next. The main attraction is the pink car which is at the very end of the museum. There's always a bar towards the end of the museum. If you get hungry, there's a food truck right outside of the exit. read more
