First time here and there was amazingly friendly service! Great ambiance the food was definitely a 10/10. Only downside of such a great restaurant is the parking we parked across the street at the Family Dollar. Surprisingly there was no wait time we got seated right away. Cheap, good food. We go here more than all other Mexican restaurants combined. My cousin can't get beyond the carne guisada for his usual entree. The sauce is wonderful, the beef is soft, succulent, flavorful and plentiful. It comes with rice (occasionally a bit salty) and mild refried beans or meaty, spicy charro beans, and lettuce, tomatoes and very fresh, clean guacamole (but no Guacamole on the Friday special). The chicken flautas are cooked to a perfect crisp. They come with the same sides as the guisada and also are an all-day special from lunch onward on Friday. The Tuesday special includes the cheese and chicken fajita quesadillas, one of my favorites in town. The shrimp cocktail is my cousin's favorite in town. He often gets it for a late breakfast (!) on weekdays as I get a fine, regular breakfast with a cheese omelet sided with a choice of meat ( the bacon is flavorful but extremely crunchy). On weekends, we go with the delicious beef caldo about 95% of the time. It is big chunks of beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and celery in a clean, clear broth. Go. Explore. Hits the spot. Quick and attentive service, simple menu, delicious salsas and the tortillas, both flour and corn, taste fresh and homemade. I got the migas a la Mexicanas and my mom got huevos rancheros, we were both really satisfied. My one critique is that I found the bacon to be really salty, didn't end up eating it after tasting. I've been enjoying the food here for some years now. Careful Yelpers, I believe most people that enjoy restaurants fail to write reviews. I know I have. Guilty as charged. Many reviewers are quick to write the negative reviews though. If I could eat here daily I would. That would never happen "in real life" because I would have no money to PAY them! This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is made fresh and you feel almost like you're standing outside the kitchen door waiting for them to hand you a plate. The service is good as well. You can find more frills and fancier ambiance. It was a relief to escape the chain Tex-Mex restaurants found in BCS. This place was very inexpensive and the food was good. First, the salsa had a little kick and the tortilla chips were served hot which was a great start. We had cheese enchiladas, barbacoa tacos, and steak fajitas. All 3 were good but the fajitas far surprised the other 2 entrées. The flour tortillas were handmade, fluffy, and warm. Overall the food is worth the trip. Better than most in BCS. read more

A little hidden treasure. To start, the chips and salsa were served warm and fresh. The salsa has good flavor with a perfect little kick to it. We ordered the chili con queso, which was decent but probably my least favorite of what we had today (and I'm a queso fanatic). For entrees, we ordered the cheese enchilada plate and the fajita nachos. Both were very tasty! The rice and refried beans also good flavor. Have been coming to Mi Pueblito for 20 years--our favorite Mexican food in BCS. Love the Chile Relleno and Bistec Ranchero--but other dishes excellent as well. We also come for breakfast on weekends (served until noon)--beans, potatoes, chorizo, bacon w/ any dish totally awesome. Anyone who goes to the chains in town is crazy. read more

I give the place 5 stars because the food is good, freshly made and put together by a family that deserves "legendary" status in our community. This place is a really nice surprise. We've been driving past it for a long time and usually see a ton of cars, but with other favorite Mexican restaurants pulling at us, we'd skipped it till recently. We've been for breakfast two times now. I've had an Americanized Mexican breakfast of eggs over, bacon and refried beans, and the second time, eggs scrambled with jalapenos, corn tortillas, beans and bacon. It's seriously simple, and very very good. Both times, the chef has ordered menudo and says the tripe is super tender, and very well balanced over all. I observed that it appeared a little less "oily" than at other places, and he shared that that's not necessarily a good thing, but he did like it a lot. Fresh, tasty salsa and homemade chips + fresh corn tortillas with our reasonably-priced meal mean we'll be back. We're looking forward to trying their carne asada special on Fridays! read more

Mi Pueblito is a Mexican restaurant on South College at Coulter in Bryan, where La Fogata used to reside. I thin it has been here about 3 years. To be precise the sign reads Mi Pueblito by Coco Loco, but Yelp seems to verify business info from phone directories, so it would have been changed to the directory listing, anyway. The owners run a number of Coco Loco restaurants throughout B/CS. Now, its always good to start on a up beat. Besides the not being crowded, I noticed that Tuesday domestic longnecks are $1.25! I don't think there's a happy hour special hat cheap anywhere in town. They also offer daily $4.99 lunch specials from 11 A.M. to close (M-F). I decided to order tacos a la carte, choosing carne asada, carne guisada, and al pastor. The asada was juicy, but barely seasoned/marinated. Tha guisada was wonderful, equalling the best I've tried in town, and way better than that at any of the Mi Cocina locations. The Pastor wasn't my favorite. It wasn't that spicy, and the sauce/gravy the pork was stewed in had an aftertaste. Perhaps their pastor is best at the beginning of the day, not after simmering 5-6 hours. This was strange, since the pork in both the pastor and the guisada, was juicy and had a nice fresh texture. Mi Pueblito is located next to a night club that I always assumed was owned by the same people. read more

Got my order wrong (refried beans instead of charro), the grilled chicken on the grilled chicken plate was bland, and the corn tortillas weren't very flavorful.
