This place came highly recommended by a friend living in Sweden and the group of us (mostly avid meat eaters) thought this was our best meal in Stockholm. Some reviews suggest issues with flavors, but on the day we went, the vast majority of what we had was well-seasoned. There was a standout tofu curry and some bright, balanced raw salads that I could eat every day. Tips for non-Swedes: make a reservation online to ensure a spot with seats for your whole group (seems like they nearly always have one), pay at the counter where you'll grab your plate and utensils, the free coffee and tea is solid, splurge and share a raw dessert or two from the counter, and keep your eyes out for seitan use if you're a gluten-free person. read more

I guess this is the "big daddy" of Stockholm vegetarian restaurants. It's certainly a very nice place, and a large property (by Stockholm restaurant standards), though correspondingly crowded. I went for a lunch buffet and was not overwhelmed. There were decent choices, some tasty and some healthy, but overall I was not awed by the options or by its diversity. There was a fair bit of generic or of the sloppy, indifferent over-sauced variety. You could carve out a tasty and decent meal, but it was by no means one of the best vegetarian buffets I've been to. The location is spectacular, with great views over the water and town, just up the cliffs of Södermalm from the photography museum. The view alone is worth it on a pleasant day. Perhaps that means they don't work quite as hard on the food as they could. Also, if you're traveling alone, be prepared to figure out what to do with your belongings as you make multiple trips indoors to the buffet. read more

Unbelievable ... Never expected to find Chana masala, Veg lasagna, yellow Thai curry, hummus, a mixed rice preparation, couscous, hummus, varieties of fresh bread loaves and several other veg dishes using various sauces and salads on a restaurant buffet for dinner. The location is one of the best of the city! You can eat outside and have a look over the sea and the Old City. The food was super tasty and they had a good variety of salads. My favorite was a dish with tomatoes and eggplant! Still can't get it out of my head! I have been to some vegan/vegetarian buffets in the city and this one so far is my favorite. read more

Very good value for the money you spend. Cute outside garden with a view. The set up is kind of annoying- you seat yourself and pay for a plate inside. It's not exactly a secure place to leave your stuff around, so it's best to have someone wait at your table. If the line is long, you will have to awkwardly line up by the dish room/stairs to the bathroom to pay. The servers are aware of allergy stuff. Most of the food was gluten free on the evening that I went- curries, rice, salads, hummus, and grilled veggies. The only things I couldn't eat were the lasagna (which was apparently mediocre), the pasta salad, and the crusty bread. There is a student discount (50% off) if you purchase a beverage. Just ok vegetarian buffet. Bread and salads were tasty but the warm dishes we sampled were so salty they were almost inedible and otherwise forgettable. 189 SEK (includes buffet and coffee/tea from a machine, no dessert) is too much for basically cafeteria food, but they do have student discounts. Surprisingly crowdy even on a Monday night in January, so reservations probably recommended. I'm guessing most of the good reviews are for the view. Would not come back for the food. read more

Amazing views and fairly cheap for dining in Stockholm - but the food is of low quality. The hot dishes are way overcooked before they even reach the buffet. Everything has too much garlic in an attempt to hide the flavour of not-so-great ingredients. What's more, there is literally no service (you queue up at the counter for a plate and later on clear it yourself) and no alcohol stronger than 3.5% is available. read more

Fantastic food with a fantastic view A must see in Stockholm

If I'm being completely transparent, this place had me from the moment I walked in. Its like a dining experience one would expect to get at a festival. Complete with the community tables and a down to earth vibe. Herman's is the type of place people linger at because of the environment and energy. If you're lucky enough to find a seat try and do that first. Then grab yourself a plate and feast on the ever changing offering which includes things like lasagna, hearty salads (both cold and warm), curry, and so much more. I was here last week on vacation. I am a vegan who is also allergic to gluten and was told this was the best place for me. So, I asked the cashier which of the cakes was gluten free and ordered one of them. Then, paid for the buffet. I was expecting the items in the buffet to be labeled on which is vegan, which is vegetarian and which is gluten free- But, all there was was a sign stating to ask a person working there if you have allergies. Looking at the buffet it was a little easy to determine what was vegetarian such as the lasagne- But, everything else was so hard. They had lettuce, one type of dressing, a couple of cucumber/ onion/ pepper dishes, some noodles, potatoes (not labeled on whether or not butter was on them) and some other items. I think I assumed too much by browsing the site/ facebook. I think items should be labeled simply with a V for vegan or GF for gluten free so people are not concerned about getting sick or being unethical. I would expect that from a place that prides itself of vegan/vegetarianism. Also, from a business standpoint- It would make more sense to have things labeled instead of having every single guest find an employee to ask questions on the dishes- It causes too much headache and if there is a language barrier it gets worse. I paid 45 dollars for lettuce and cake and coffee. It has a nice view though. I guess if you are a vegetarian or someone without any restrictions it is a good place to get some food- Vegans/ Gluten free- Stay away. read more

The Hermans restaurant is a real insiders' tip. If you like different vegetarian food you should go there. It's a mix of indian and oriental food in form of a brilliant and big buffet. Especially for students the Hermans is one of the cheapest restaurant in Stockholm. They have special offers for students to have a cheap dinner. The food is delicious and diverse. Everyone will find something to feel comfortable. By the way: The view out of the winter garden is brilliant. read more

Very good food! As a vegan, I appreciated that everything except for one dish was vegan that day, and the employees were very helpful with letting me know which one it was. I recommend the blueberry pie for dessert if you are able to eat more. read more

The best thing about the place was the view, and maybe others are so charmed by it they ignore the food. I have been there three times on Sunday, maybe regular lunch is better The Sunday brunch is overpriced, small variety, and weird seasoning choices. This is from the last time I was there. Califlower is a wonderful vegie, but there were six dishes with it as the main ingredient. If it was not califlower it was beets in two others. Many dishes had too much funigeek, others that needed cumin or ginger it was absent, the hot dishes were lukewarm at best. There was only one dish with tofu and it was not refilled when it ran out. Only one salad had walnuts, nothing with sunflower or pumpkin seeds. For the price paid, one expects to at least get dessert and more quality ingredients. For dessert one has to pay even more to get one. Seating around the buffet table is cramped and one worries you will put your bum in another diners face as you fill your plate. read more
