Huge comic book selection. Steep prices for trading card games (TCGs). It's a comic shop, I get it. But $50 for a Pokémon stacking tin (MSRP: $15), over $20 per pack for the popular Pokémon sets (MSRP: $6), this ain't it. I get that PTCG is hot right now, but I'd rather an LGS price at/closer to MSRP and be sold out than to mark up beyond "market price" just to keep it stocked. The glass case includes raw and graded singles, and I like that the prices are clearly marked (unlike Legends, where you have to ask for prices), but again I feel like it's higher than market prices. I appreciate that they have boxes of MtG bulk and Pokémon bulk ($0.25 each, or 5/$1), probably some good finds in there if you have the time to look through it. Big range on prices for supplies. $3 for a one-touch case or basic deck box, but $5 for penny sleeves. They run some pricing specials (currently all books: Buy 2, Get 1 For $1), which is cool. Right now they're doing 75% off all board games (!)... but the board game selection is really small. Customer service seems fine; they'll happily answer questions without hounding you. I'm glad the shop is still around, but unless the PTCG prices come down, I guess it's just not for me. read more

I went to Heroes and Champions yesterday for the first time, and holy cow was I impressed. Floor to ceiling full of comics, endless rows of shelves of graphic novels, and trading cards as far as the eye can see!! I immediately found some Poison Ivy that I didn't have, and the nice lady working in the back pointed me in the direction of a couple Batman comics that had Poison Ivy as a main character, though she wasn't on the cover. I spent about $70 on all the comics and graphic novels, which is pretty good bargain! I love that they are only a 9 minute drive from me! Definitely just found my new comic store! read more

I found this place by accident and I'm happy that I did. They have a good selection of many role playing type games and the staff is very friendly even if it's your first time learning about things. I collect the Disney Lorcana game and they have a good selection of packs and the prices are at msrp. I would definitely check this place out again a d recommend it to anyone who is into magic and D&D type games read more

I love this comic book store! It's a no frills old school kinda shop and for that I'm a fan. I go in and I'm never pressed by anyone working there, they really just let you do your thing which I appreciate. At the sane time, they're helpful if they need to be. Thier comic wall is awesome, I often find things here I can't anywhere else. It's not close to my house, but I will make the trip cause I know they'll always have what I want. 10/10 recommend, but you know....that's just like.....my opinion.....man. read more

This is a long, overdue review I've been meaning to write since being a weekly regular since Fall '2021. I have been here a couple of times throughout the years, long before I was a regular. When my main shop, Black Cat Comics in Milpitas closed down and their deal with Torpedo Comics was, well torpedoed, the owners of Black Cat recommended Heroes & Champions. Although it's a bit out of the way for me, I love coming here every week picking up new books. Danjer is another reason why I love coming here every week. Danjer is awesome, helpful, accommodating, and provides the best customer service. I also love our weekly conversations, which more often than not, are not about comics. I wish there was a location closer to me, but that won't stop me from coming here every week for new comics. read more

It's a comic book store next to Bonchon. The inside is bigger than what you'd expect from looking at the outside. However depending on what you want, this place is one of the worst places for pokemon cards as not only they have limited selections but they are way higher than other local stores. read more

I swing by this store when I'm in the area and it's always a fun trip. They have a big selection of MTG singles with clear consistent pricing. There is also a large selection of comics, role-playing games and other collectibles if that's your thing. I've been to some other gaming stores in the area with a more high-end retail feel but they don't have anywhere near the selection of Heroes and Champions. There is a LOT of stuff here. I find their prices to be in line with or better than online retailers as well. Also important to mention is the staff. I've found them to be friendly and helpful, always willing to help me find what I need and will even shoot the breeze with me while I do. They are also passionate and knowledgeable about their products. Bottom line; If you want to find the thing you want for your collection, Heroes and Champions is the first place you should look. read more

I've been coming to this store for 24 years now. It was under a few different names over the years I have been a customer and was a few doors down when I first started going in. Was introduced to Magic: The Gathering by an employee and still to this day am an avid player. The staff has always been amazing and the prices are great. I refuse to shop at any other LGS. Love the selection of everything and always get gifts for friends and family at the shop. If you are in the area definitely stop in. You will love it. read more

I usually don't buy anything from these shops, but I LOVE being a looky-loo! Boyfriend was looking for Spider Man #6 but because it was so old, they didn't carry it in store. He placed an order for it and the shop owner was very helpful with that. I wandered in to the board game section and found Pixar Monopoly!!! Cool store, decent selection of MTG singles, massive comic selection and plenty of other good accessories. MTG singles - good selection of money cards in the case, they even have a couple full set collections, they have a few boxes of cheaper staples that you can dig through that's sorted by color. Comics - I know nothing about this but they seem knowledgeable and are nice about it to the people I saw buying high end and low end comics. Staff - very nice and helpful. Dropped in with my kids to take a look at their Pokémon cards selection. The guy (owner I think) was really nice and we chatted about these cards and their recent rise in popularity. The store did have a decent amount of packs for sale (sun&moon, vivid voltage) along with some decks. For the booster packs, there is a limit of 6 to make it fair for all customers. Smells like chicken!! I used to come in the past to sift through old back issues. After I recent visit, many of those back issues are not available to sift through. I was hoping to find some particular issues but the clerk wasn't in a mood to be helpful that day despite saying that they probably did have what I was looking for. What customer service! The place is very cramped. If you are walking down the aisles expect to trip over a comic rack and bump into a shelf. It's very cluttered with little space between the aisles, etc. There is a Bonchon next door. The whole place now smells like chicken. It was really gross walking through the comic store with the smell of chicken permeating through the place. I won't be back. read more

Running a small business is difficult and I can't even imagine how difficult it is to run a comic book store where the margins are so low and the owners are stuck with so many inventory. So I'm amazed with all these one-star reviews from some reviewers. Granted, if the employees were rude, being a racist or being creepy when a beautiful girl comes in and making her feel uncomfortable, then yes, a one-star is warranted. But to give a one or two stars because they found a better price at Amazon? Or that you bought 4 TPBs and the one that was charged $1 was for the cheapest one? That's just silly. I've only discovered this shop a month ago and frequent it every week to get the Buy 2 Get 1 $1 deal. And I've been treated well. I'm a 40+ male and I'm usually ignored which I like. But I do get greeted when I come in and when I pay, the cashier tries to strike a conversation. I admit, on my first day when I did ask the question if the deal included the omni's, I got a rude response that the sign is for everything in the shelves. The Heroes store at Campbell (which was much closer to me) excluded omni's so I had to be sure. Omnibus collection is quite expensive so I never pay full price and buy online from vendors that give ~35-40% off. With the Buy 2 Get 1 $1 deal, it averages to 33% off if all three books were the same price. I don't mind paying a few bucks more to support the local comic shop and I get instant gratification of not waiting. I can't speak for single issues because I stopped buying them after I got rid of 30+ long boxes and I just don't want to get addicted to buying singles again. So I can't comment if they are priced fair or not. And as for the cards having been resealed? It's shameful if they do that but I cannot comment on that. I can only share my experience in buying TPBs and omni's which so far has been great! read more

Love this store! Have stopped by a few times throughout the last year but recently got into DnD so I was looking for some dice. Danjer was super awesome and was more than happy to help me and answer my questions. Ended up leaving the store with 2 sets of dice that I love and before the day ended I dragged my friends there too for their dice! Will most definitely be back! The other patrons of the store were also really nice and gave me some tips for DnD. Just love the overall vibe from the place :) they have a huge selection of comic books as well and seems like the staff genuinely cares about finding/getting you what you are looking for. Packs have a high chance of being resealed. They refuse to sell full booster boxes and want to sell single packs. See the marks?? That's a sign of reseal. I've talked and showed videos of their packs in the Pokémon community and 90 percent says yes it's resealed. Meaning they open and take the hits and add a different card and seal it back . Prices on Pokémon is way too over priced. Don't get ripped off. read more

My BF and I came here looking for a Christmas gift for our daughter. My BF had a couple of books in mind that he wanted to get her since she really likes scarlet witch. There is a large selection of comics books, pops and children's books. There was a sign posted that said purchase 2 get a 3rd for $1 over the trade paperbacks. Since the books ran $25-$40 we thought that was a great deal. It took my BF 45 minutes to decide which books to get. During that time I was trying to keep our toddler entertained. I took her to look at the children's books and she wanted to purchase a Garfield book. I figured for $5 sure to keep her quiet. Then we purchased everything, the 3 trade paperbacks a pop and the children's book. When we were walking out my boyfriend noticed that the owner charged us full price for the paperbacks. He said that all the books qualified for the sale so he gave us $4 off the children's book instead of $24 from the paperbacks. We mentioned to him that the sale sign wasn't posted over the children's books. And he said "sorry, all sales final" and pointed to a sign behind the counter. I was so upset I told him he wasn't being fair and trying to pull a fast one over customers. After some back and forth he said he would not give us our money back but he would let us have a 4th paperback worth $25. So we picked one out and left. It really makes no sense why he would give bad customer service to customers that clearly knew comics and would absolutely come back to purchase more. But he'd rather cheat us out of $24, instead of having a returning customer that would spend $80-$100 every time they came in. I am giving him 2 stars because he did have a good selection and he did give us the $25 credit. So if you do decide to shop here read all the signs, ask questions about the prices and make sure he charges you correctly because he will not give you your money back read more

Comic book collector gem. This place has an incredible selection of keys from every age. Highly recommend a visit. Phil has an absolutely uncanny ability to recall comics and find the issues and titles you are looking for... and it helps that folks here are extremely nice. COVID rules are respected. Not my local comic shop, but I come here when I go on my El Camino Real trek every so often. They have great deals on back issues, so if you're missing something in that collection of yours, then hit this place up. Service is a bit strange as the last time I was there, the dude at the counter while watching TV told me "what you see is what we have" when I asked him about locating an issue of Ultimate Spider-Man. For the avid gamer and comic lover. Comic Collector Shop (or CCS to some), is a big messy shop filled with great deals and hidden gems. From vintage comics, to modern board games, it has a lot to look for. The store is a bit disorganized, though this comes off as more of an issue made by the high traffic of daily customers than bad maintenance on the staff's behalf. I found a stockpile of old Judge Dredd comics with about 15 minutes of searching, and got a stack to take home, 30 issues for $30. A fantastic deal! read more

I said that's not right. This other person behind the counter said "that's business". I said to separate the purchase they said I can't anymore because they started the transaction. This place has a great selection of items. This place definitely appealed to me cause of the Disney Pins and the Disney TsumTsums that they carry. They sometimes have Pop! Vinyls as well if you collect those. Also, they have popular comics posted on top of the wall for easy viewing and out of the hands of people. read more

A large store that invites you in to dig around and find stuff! From new comics to old, board games to card games, toys to supplies if CCS doesn't have it they'll gladly order it for you! They have signings a couple of times a year that have featured guests as big as Stan Lee for the fanboy in all of us and hold regular gaming tourneys as well.If the store looks messy sometimes its because they just bought a big collection and have boxes out of stuff for super cheap. Been going here for years...UNTIL this week...really bummed out. Came with a bunch of friends...willing to open the wallet...asked the guy behind the counter for advice on a purchase...was told I "had three minutes" to make a decision instead. He mutters something about how he's been there since 7(someone complaining about working at a comic shop is not what anyone wants to hear). After, he begins to blast really noisy music in an attempt to get everyone out of the store... I don't really know the guy by face, so I'm assuming he wasn't one of the owners of the shop. Every time theres been someone really cool behind the counter-delivering an insight that a casual reader wouldn't have...except this time. Unfortunately for me and for this shop, one rotten egg seems to have spoiled the bunch. Theres dozens of other shops in the Bay, why would you treat a repeat customer this way?
