I'm doing a review like Ryan Trahan so this is 5 stars. Great service, watched an old lady eat mashed potatoes. My food was good. Should have gotten 3 pancakes.

This is a great find! We were traveling with our two dogs and they have a dog friendly patio! Umbrella tables offered lots of shade for us and the dogs! Music, sunshine, a place to walk the dogs, great food and quick service! Our waitress brought out a bucket of water for each dog! When we were finished the manager came out with 2 homemade dog treats for them! I give this place 5 Stars!

The service and food was excellent. We ordered takeout and our food was ready in 15 minutes. Just as good as it was in 2002 when we were stationed here. Christina made sure that we had everything extra that we requested and thumbs up to the cooks.

We all ate different meals, i had ribs and tater totss, my wife had steak and potato, my friend had chicken fried steak and my niece had burger with fried onions, all of us thought the food was excellent. We had emma for a waitress, she was really good at remembering our orders condiments and drinks, she was sociable and friendly, she has been a waitress at country kitchen for 3 years. She does an excellent job. Well done

Food was okay, but I was really distracted by what appeared to be former US president Donald Trump sitting in the booth across from me and my boyfriend. It kept staring at us the entire time and didn't even take out a sip out of the four loko. I also spilled my coffee all over the table and all over myself and my boyfriend, leaving our matching white bell bottom pants brown. The light by our table was so bright I genuinely could not see my French toast, it just looked white and completely over exposed to the naked eye.

I could only eat a small amount of the biscuits and gravy

This time, at least, the service was impeccable and the hamburger was so delicious it hit the spot. I had been in the mood for a slightly charred burger and, in particular, from a non-chain restaurant in some smaller town or area. So, I suggested that we go to Warrensburg and visit that restaurant we ate at many moons ago. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, so about 5 PM on a Wednesday, and not many people. The only aspect (and this is not the restaurant's issue) that seemed sad was that I mistook a homeless person in the bathroom for an inebriated person from their bar. I later learned that, sadly, Warrensburg receives a small population of these people from Kansas City, which buses them here. Anyhow, that is a side story. My husband ordered the Warrensburger (cute name, btw) and I ordered a Mushroom with Monterey Jack. Both burgers were charred to perfection. He ordered fries, and I ordered a baked mashed potato casserole (I get tired of fries) and unfortunately it wasn't warmed all the way, but it also had way too much black pepper, which I can't have. The waitress wasn't only accommodating and understanding, but made it a point to apologize, and shared apologies from the cook. I told her that there wasn't any need, and that she was very kind. She stepped it up and graced me with a fully loaded baked potato--no issues. Overall, the service, food, and everything here was fantastic and I don't suspect I will wait another twenty years again to visit.

Unfortunately, over the past 18 mos or so, my family has noted that the food quality has gone downhill from the days when Katie Scully ran the place. Overcooked meat-especially the burgers. I have always recommended Heroes for the burgers, but bot my son and I have each experienced this on our last 3 visits. Loaded cheese fries and plain fries were excellent yesterday, but the Unknown Heroes tasted weird, as if the recipe was changed, and not in a good way. My husband and I have regularly used Heroes several times per year, and we almost always get 1 or 2 liters of the concoction to share with friends or, like yesterday, our grown-up kids. My kids are home from school and requested Heroes for the food and great family memories. Unfortunately they, too were disappointed with the food.My husband and I will be back in the next couple of weeks for a work function. We are really hoping for a better experience.

I say that so people don't get upset when I say, Players Restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere, but it's in a safe nowhere! Pulling up was an exciting moment as my oldest daughter was graduating first in her class, a year early from high school and I hadn't seen her in a year. That said, I walked in about 4pm and almost no one was there. I asked the bartender if I could sit in the main room instead of the bar and she was cool with it. Players looks like a sort of Applebees with "crap" all on the walls but upon closer inspection, the photos are of local people. This tells me it's an authentic experience which I gained a much fuller appreciation. My daughters both said they liked the food there, and I was about to meet "the boyfriend" so I was anticipating the encounter. He walked in and I immediately made fun of him to put him at ease (my daughter warned him that I used to do standup) so the vibe was very nice. Next the waitress came over and was so vibrant and courteous that I was impressed. Now, I really liked a lot of menu items I saw but I wasn't that hungry. Again, I'll bring this back later, but could this "redneck restaurant" really make good Saganaki (Greek cheese) and Calamari? Needless to say, I was extremely skeptical however my sweet tea arrived and was spot on. I even asked for NO lemon and she didn't put it in my glass. Forgive my doubts as I used to be a chef so I can generally spot a disingenuous effort before trying it. First up was the Saganaki which came over a burner. Wow, they got part of it right! As an aside, the cheese can be one of many types with Halloumi or a type of sheeps milk feta that's shallow fried. That said, and I hope they read this to add authentic zest to the experience, it needs to be flambeed and hit with a shot of lemon to offset the richness which very loudly proclaiming OPA! Aside from the theatrics it was extremely good and the warm pita was on the money! Next up I had already determined I was making a mistake ordering the calamari. Well, I was wrong again. The squid were perfectly fried and crispy lacking grease that most restaurants think is ok. Players hit it out of the park with my only addition being I would have liked an aioli with it otherwise the dish surprised me. My kids both got fettuccini alfredo with chicken. I tried two bites and found it was average. The sauce was somewhat bland with slightly overcooked pasta. I think most kids would love it but after people build up a good amount of knowledge with quality dishes, this one fell flat. I'm not saying it's bad, but I wouldn't order it. The pork tenderloin sandwich looked good but I didn't taste it. I was dumbfounded by the huge tenderized pork outsizing the bun 3 to 1 giving it the illusion of getting a lot for the money. My daughters boyfriend assured me it was good and wrapped up half to take home. To summarize my review shows that one should never go in with preconceived notions about a restaurant before trying it. Players proved me wrong more often that I'm willing to admit. The staff are very nice, the restaurant has soul, and the food overachieves. If you're in the area I will highly advise dropping by for what could be the best food in town.

Because this was my first visit I tried several different items to get the full experience. I started with a half pound Boudin Link, it was sensational. I was incredibly impressed that the Boudin was so delicious being so far away from Louisiana or Texas. I also ordered a half serving of red beans and rice with sausage, a half serving of jambalaya and a half shrimp Po boy. The Boudin came out first it was Cooked to perfection, exceptionally well flavored and served with a wonderful spicy remoulade. All of the dishes were very thoughtfully prepared, wonderful flavored, just the right amount of cajun flavors. The portions were huge even as half servings it was much more than I could eat. The cost was very reasonable and well worth it. While the meal was excellent, Amanda's attentiveness and genuine concern for customer satisfaction made it a perfect dining experience. Now, it is back open, and tending to the locals who come by and set up shop with books and laptops to read and do some work. Upon arriving I was greeted with a smile by Maggie, their barista for the day. She was very patient and attentive as I made small talk with her, stalling as I decided what to order. I asked what the specials were, as their is a chalkboard on the counter that reads "Barista Favorites", a list of specialty custom drinks made by each individual barista. Hers was the "cinnamon toast crunch latte" consisting of their espresso beans from Colombia, brown sugar syrup, and another secret ingredient I'll have to inquire for the next time I come. It was perfectly foamed and delicious to the last drop. She even popped over to ask how I liked it, hence the 'charm of a hole-in-the-wall'. I see why this place is so loved, and definitely plan to come back again. The food is popular here as well, but I haven't tried it.
