The man - I will not use the term "gentleman", as he was not one - at the desk proceeded to make me feel very foolish for knowing nothing about the light and then gave instruction to me on how to best put my 3-year old in the car. The second time I had the pleasure of working with a lady who was light years removed from her coworker In terms of social skills, but who sent me home with the wrong wattage of bulb, despite having written the receipt correctly. It was silly of me not to have double checked after my first experience, I will admit, but nonetheless, I won't be back. Supporting local business is important, but I stop short of supporting poor customer service.

They ripped us off and violated building code too. I had them install a car charger. Mario Meza…read morequoted the job and did the install. He quoted a 6-3 wire and 50 amp breaker, and that's what he invoiced as well. It turns out he actually installed a 8-3 wire and 60 amp breaker. This violates building code (verified with city of Overland Park) and is a fire hazard. It also is a cheaper wire and doesn't provide as much amperage as the 6-3 wire. We've made multiple attempts to contact them to give them a chance to correct their work--and actually install what they charged us for-- before we report them to the city. Mario took my call one time and was quite rude. He tried to claim that it's fine because it works and then hung up on me. (That's like saying it's ok to give me a cubic zirconia when he quoted and charged me for a diamond.) They won't return our calls on any of their numbers. Be aware also that they are no longer licensed in Johnson County. (He was when we hired him but it has since expired.

I was looking for a locally owned business that actually sold bulbs, as sadly, the other local lighting stores don't, and the big box stores don't sell the good quality ones. Jessica was extremely helpful and friendly on the phone, and said that they had some available in a different lum/K than I was looking for, but could order them. I hired this guy (Daniel Gittens) for a full rewire of a house that I was working on. Initially…read morethings went well but when it came down to it he finished 90% of the work and left me hanging on the remaining 10%. To make matters worse things were wrapping up right as winter was approaching and I needed that remaining 10% of work done to connect power for the furnace to the new meter so that the pipes don't freeze. I had mentioned that this was going to be a major issue if not coordinated properly and he took note of it, or so I thought... The time came to switch the meter and I called him to which he notified me he was in Florida for the next 6 weeks! Okay, I also run my own business, I get it, time off can be hard. But this guy proceeded to not only fail to notify me he would be gone for 6 weeks while having an open job but he flat out refused to sub out someone else to finish his work and left me having to pay an emergency electrician on a single day's notice to finish the job. Near the top of the list for worst sub contractors I have had the displeasure of working with. Pictured below is the condition my electric box was left in when Daniel decided he was done with the job which included a full rewire and new panel. Installing half the breakers and calling it a day is not finishing the scope of work.

You know when gamers throw their control and 'rage quit?' That's what happened to me with an…read moreelectrical project. I hate that I had to to it, but I called in the professionals at Galvin. They were responsive on Yelp with Request-A-Quote, and while a notch higher than some others, I figured what the hell. They could have someone out same day and the reviews looked great. The tech was later than expected (4-6 p.m. window and arrived closer to 6:30) which wasn't ideal as we had sat down to dinner. Fortunately the job was small and he was quick to handle it. To me it's a lot like calling a plumber; it's going to cost you, but you know it's going to be done right. Galvin seemed professional in how they booked and assigned the electrician. Not every service company can say the same. Hopefully won't need them again, like, ever, but if so I would recommend them and go with them again.
