I was forced to use this company by my builder when my house was built, and the experience has been extremely disappointing. I purchased several light fixtures from them, only to later find the exact same lights at Home Depot for one-third of the price. On top of that, about ten of the fixtures were missing a small bolt/nut that holds the shade in place. This makes changing a bulb extremely difficult. Only one fixture included the correct part, which is how I even realized the rest were missing. I searched every hardware store in town for this tiny 15-cent nut--no one carries it. When I contacted Wilson, they told me to reach out to Maxim, the manufacturer. Maxim then told me to contact Wilson because they were responsible for making it right. In the end, I was told I'd have to pay $10 per light fixture for each tiny nut--something that should cost pennies and should have been included in the first place. This is unacceptable customer service. After paying hundreds of dollars for fixtures, the least they could do is provide the missing parts. You would think a lighting store would carry basic hardware for the products they sell. Instead, for what they want to charge me for a few tiny nuts, I could buy several brand-new lights. Our consultant Lashell is professional and very knowledgeable. Recently we had a large staircase fixture with three shades to be replaced. Caton was very patient throughout the long process. 5-Stars to Vidal who helped me resolve a 5-year problem with an outdoor light fixture. The halogen bulb (which should last a long time if you don't touch the bulb while installing) would burn out in a very short period of time (a couple of months). Finally, it was suggested that Vidal take a look at it. I uninstalled fixture and Vidal replaced the socket at the shop. Fixture was recently reinstalled, and I'm hopeful his fix will resolve the problem. Vidal was VERY helpful and genuinely interested in resolving my problem. I don't know if Vidal is new or if they have been hiding him from me :-), but he is a real asset to Wilson Lighting in Overland Park! read more

Should have checked yelp first! My wife and I went in the store on a Monday afternoon to buy some decorative lighting. We marveled at the selection and the amount of staff that were there. I'm not sure what the staff does there, because not one person spoke to us as we walked through the entire store trying to find what we were looking for. I'm not a tire kicker, and when I go shopping, I'm ready to buy. We found what we were looking for, but again, no one around. So guess what? We didn't spend any money there! In their defense, I was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes, so maybe they thought I didn't have any money. read more

I will never return to this place for anything, nor would I recommend them. We had issues in every department we purchased from. Not following through on the things they are required to do, but they sure do want their money. Impossible to get anyone to call you back until you start threatening to show up. Amy specifically needs to work on her customer service skills, very narcissistic, like she has better things to do. David in hardware is a HOT MESS. Completely unreliable. Once we got moved in door hinges were bent making all sorts of noise, our builder had to completely redo two doors in the house, door handles missing pins to keep the handles on the doors, sent the wrong cabinet and drawer handles. Once we moved in found out majority of our neighbors were very unimpressed as well. read more

I bought a ceiling fan from Wilson lighting that included a light kit, a Receiver, a Remote, and I paid them for the installation. The electrician that Wilson Lighting contracted to install the ceiling fan in my living room was unable to get the Remote to work with the fan's Receiver, resulting in the need to use the pull chains to work the fan and light. Pull chains wear out, so I contacted Wilson Lighting to request that a technician come to my house with a replacement Receiver and Remote. Hearing about my issue, Bobby Wilson called me and had a technician named Joe come to my house. Within about 30 minutes after arrival, Joe was able to compete the installation and the new Remote is able to work with the replacement Receiver. Joe also gave me instructions on how to reprogram the Remote should I ever have a power outage that requires a reprogramming. I appreciate Bobby Wilson for ensuring that that ceiling fan I purchased fully functioned, and I appreciate Joe's years of electrical expertise to make the ceiling work in the purchased manner. The 3-speed fan is quiet and the high energy bulbs should last a long time. read more

Wilson Lighting made several trips to our new home for warranty work on an outside garage light that was hanging crooked. This fixture was one of two decorative lights that matched. The light could not be repaired and a new light would not match the other light. Ryan was the employee that came out several times to work on this problem. The results of Ryan's efforts were two totally new lights. The new ones look great and Ryan returned to change out the panes so they would match perfectly. It's unfortunate, this place has many beautiful accessories and lighting. I expect to feel comfortable when I'm working with someone who is helping me pick out lighting for our new home and build. From Day 1, I didn't feel like this with the salesperson. This person was consistently rushed, abrupt and was short with me.... every encounter I had, I dreaded. I would leave messages to call me, emails...nothing. I asked her multiple times if she could contact my builder about the credits I had. This person did Nothing. Communication skills were not this person's strengths. I'm canceling my $4 K order tomorrow and ordering with Rensen. Here, I feel welcome, at ease, not rushed and my new sales person is focused on helping me with my lighting and I'm Not being treated like a number. I just purchased a new home which was built in 2006. All my original lights came from Wilson lighting.I had a couple of questions and everyone was so willing to help me. I was very impressed with the exceptional customer service provided by the sales people at Wilson Lighting, especially Kathleen! After reading a few negative reviews on this app, I have to wonder if these customers ever thought that when a store has top of the line products, sometimes you have to wait 2-3 minutes to get your turn talking to a sales rep. I was assisted by 2 sales reps taking turns in answering my questions. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish the store was bigger and spread out so that all of these beautiful products could be shown off to their best advantage. We've had three great experiences at Wilson, just ask for Lisa. Our first purchase was for a ceiling fan for the bedroom. The major requirement we told her was that it had to be extremely quiet, and it is. I didn't really care that it had a remote control, but it sure is nice when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to raise or lower the speed. It sure beats getting out of bed! Our 2nd purchase was a special order for Tech Lighting track lights for our kitchen remodel. Lisa patiently walked me through the ordering process and the fixtures were delivered on time. I went back today for Kichler xenon under cabinet lighting. Shopped around and Wilson had what we wanted in stock. The only negative vibe is that their prices seemed a little higher than what we expected/wanted to pay, but the reason is we are buying top quality. Casablanca fans are not cheap in price or quality, and Tech Lighting is definitely high end. Some things may seem like a bargain at the national box chain store, but what kind of quality are you really getting? When you are spending $25k+ on a kitchen re-do, a slight increase in your budget is hardly noticable, especially when you get exactly what you wanted and you know it going to last and look good. read more

I shopped at this location on 10/1/2018 around 5:30pm. There were several employees on the floor but no one greeted me or asked if I needed help. I was shopping for fixtures for 2 bedrooms, a dining room,, a kitchen, and 2 outdoor. After wandering around the store for 20 minutes with no interaction, I left. Wilson has quite a selection and I appreciate being able to see the fixtures. However, customer service at this location is "0" stars. Really disappointing, but I'll be purchasing my fixtures at a retailer who values customers. read more

The ceiling fan purchase adventure: -first thing I noted was they said they don't track shipments from fan companies. (Have they never heard of Fedex?) The second time we went in there was a person behind the counter that was trying to help us but said he wasn't a salesman (never explained what his job was) and didn't know anything about fans. So the guy looks on the computer and sees they expect to receive more stock in the next 2 days, which of course didn't happen and after a couple of phone calls the saleslady on the phone recommended I put a down payment on the the fan I liked so when it DID arrive they could just call me to go pay it off. About a week later they called and said the shipment never arrived so they were going to order the fan I had put a down payment on. The fan arrived less than a week later and it was supposed to be remotely controlled but guess what? It isn't. read more

We had a fan light that was flickering when we moved into our new home. A very nice gentleman come and fixed it within 15 min. On his way out he noticed our dining room had a very low and large chandelier that would usually hang over a dining room table but we didn't have a dining table, as we had turned this room into a desk/sitting area. On his way out he noticed it and offered to raise it since he assumed we were hitting our heads on it as we walk around the room-which we had many times! He did and we were very pleased! Placed and paid for an order on Dec. 29th and told to expect it around Jan. 12th. Called them on Jan. 15th and asked if my order was in and that's when they discovered they never even placed the order. They apologized and said they would place the order but it would be another 10-12 days for it to arrive. I "suggested" they expedite delivery since I already had an installation date set up for the following week. After several phone calls, I was told they would do that for me and would be given some sort of discount off the installation price. Waited a few more days and called again only to find out that they still hadn't placed the order or didn't expedite it - wasn't really given a clear explanation. So I had to reschedule the installation another week out and the installer wasn't told of any discount. Left message with the assistant manager yesterday. She didn't return my call and is not in the store today. Extremely disappointed. read more

This place is an absolute joke... We used them after being recommended by our electrician to not buy are fixtures from a Lowe's or a Home Depot when building our house. But to spend the extra money to use Wilson. They continuously sent lights without all the parts. I had to run across town and get parts or missing lights in our order. Our ceiling fan lasted less than a week in our master bedroom and they took over a month to fix it and even then I had to call and get mad to get them to finally give our fan back.
