Contacted Grateful Dental and the staff was extremely accommodating with the receptionist and hygienist providing an appointment the next day for a new patient to their practice. I completed the paperwork and arrived early at the appointment, as requested. Great review until this point. On the way back to the "chair", the hygienist mentioned they wanted me to get a full mouth x-ray. I asked if there was any way not to do this. As the hygienist explained why they wanted to do it, Dr Terri came out into the hallway and as the hygienist was trying to convince me to do it, Dr Terri stated "why don't we call it done, then". Thinking she meant to skip the x-ray, i said great and started to move to the dental chair. Then Dr Terry states "No. The appointment is over" and showed me the door. I was flabbergasted at this statement. In no way was I rude in my request and would have done it with a little convincing/persuading. Apparently, they are not really looking for new patients. If anyone is looking for a new dentist, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

They are "out of network" with all insurance providers and what this means is you will need to pay out of pocket at time of service. They will invoice insurance on your behalf, and you will get reimbursed by insurance. Beware that LJBS will invoice at the full cash rate not at the agreed upon contract rate. In our case the discrepancy between full cash rate vs agreed upon contract rate amounted to $250. So not only did I need to pay $650 out of pocket for 3 kids, for a normal run of the mill dental cleaning and check up, I was only reimbursed $400 from insurance. I've lived in 3 different countries, 7 cities - I've never come across a practice where you must pay out of pocket first. So if you're ok potentially being reimbursed less for a general service that is fully covered by insurance for basic needs, the hygienist is awesome.

Called up Dr. Zax's office and the appointment making process was pleasant and quick. That's where the positivity of this review ends. I also want to preface this review with the fact that I am NOT one of those people who is terrified of the dentist. I have never been afraid of any doctor. I spent nearly three hours at their office from start to finish. For a CLEANING! A Cleaning! Waited in the waiting room for a half an hour. Sat in the torture chair for an hour and a half. Waited another half an hour for the doctor to review the Grim Reaper's work. Waited ten minutes for doctor to get off of her cell phone. Listened to the doctor try to convince me for another ten minutes that I "might" have a cavity (I am 42 years old and have never had a cavity) and that I will need to come back and get it "fixed" for a few more hundred dollars. The rooms were freezing. Maybe they need to be, I don't know. The dental assistant proceeded to tell me everything that my previous dentist had done wrong in the last twenty years. Picked at my teeth with her mouth-hatchet for far longer than I've ever had anyone do in the past. My entire mouth was sore for two days (again, a first) and I had a headache for 24 hours after that appointment. The receptionist is very cheery. So thanks for that. Good music in the office too. Near the beginning of COVID I was having tooth sensitivity and pain. They were able to get me in and find out that I had a crack in a crown. I am so happy with my new crown. I mean it's not fun to need major dental work- but they made the experience as pleasant as possible. My husband who had perfect teeth come in for cleanings. My 5 year old loves the staff they are so sweet to her. Dr Christina is so good with her. They have been our dentist for almost 2.5 years and can't say enough good things about them.
