Based on the low reviews of this place, we were a little nervous about our rental car process. Fortunately, we had a somewhat seamless process of picking up the car, and dropping off was super easy. Obviously, it depends on the time of your arrival, as you may deal with a couple of parties ahead of you, or super long lines that could take a while. The first vehicle we had was, unfortunately, not processed and marked in having a pre-paid reservation; even though we had to make a repeat of the process when we got to the exit gate, we were able to get another vehicle that we actually preferred - it all worked out in the end! Service was pretty friendly and efficient! They do have a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes or so from and to LAX, which is extremely convenient. Definitely can recommend this rental spot if you're in the area! +great customer service +shuttle to and from LAX +decent selection of vehicles

GIGANTIC concrete pour, 2nd largest in the world next to the Pentagon!

New LAX ConRAC facility just opened on March 11, at 5851 W 98th st. The old location at 9000 Airport Blvd is now closed. However ALL of the web site information and email correspondence and documents I received from Hertz even as recently as yesterday (advising of my upcoming return due) still show the OLD 9000 AIRPORT BLVD address!!! The new ConRAC facility IS THE WORST DESIGNED AND UNFRIENDLY AND INCONVENIENT BUILDING EVER BUILT!!! It has 6.3 million square feet, for 12 rental car companies. Multi-level, shuttle bus dropoff at the curbside perimeter so that you then have to WALK INSIDE WITH YOUR BAGS AND KIDS 1000's of feet to the central elevator to now go up to whatever level your company is at. Then you have to walk another 1000 feet from the elevator to the rental station office, to get your keys. Same story in reverse after return. No signs, NO ADA COMPLIANCE. EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY to elderly, disabled, families. No Hertz or other rental agents or assistance at ground level near shuttle bus dropoff. Ramp up to 2nd level to return the car is two lanes, right lane to Hertz and left lane to EXIT. But the right lane has CONES BLOCKING IT!!! So you apparently need to take the left EXIT lane up, and then 300 feet later slide to the right to enter the return lanes!!! There are maybe 9 return lanes, the right 4 marked with "disabled wheelchair RETURN", and the left 5 just normal "return". BUT THE RIGHT 4 DISABLED LANES ARE BLOCKED WITH CONES... thus being totally unusable by the disabled!!!! WHY??? The place is GIGANTIC, with 1000 feet of walking required from outside curb to central elevator/escalator hub. Same in reverse getting out. Taxi/uber dropoff if 2000 feet away from center. As far away as could possibly be designed!!! WHY??? This is marked as "customer pick-up", but is NOT LOCATED NEAR WHERE YOU WOULD BE IF YOU RETURNED YOUR CAR AND WERE BEING PICKED UP BY FAMILY/FRIEND LOCALLY. Same with drop-off, if you were a local and rented a car for pickup at LAX. HORRIBLY UNFRIENDLY"!!! COMPLETELY UNFRIENDLY TO PASSENGERS, ELDERLY, DISABLED, FAMILIES, anybody with multiple bags!!! Automated People Mover (APM) apparently has a station built into the center of the ConRAC facility. But it is NOT OPERATIONAL YET. So shuttle buses to/from are still required. Hertz counter on 2nd level has 5 terminal desks for service reps. At pickup, only 2 desks were manned. One rep was on the phone and not helping anyone. Only the one other rep was handling the long queue of arriving passengers wanting to get their rental paperwork done and receiving cars. There are THOUSANDS OF CARS PARKED IN THOUSANDS OF SPOTS, located THOUSANDS OF FEET FROM THE Hertz rental station in the center of the garage. HORRIBLY UNFRIENDLY DESIGN!!! UNFRIENDLY TO ELDERLY, DISABLED, FAMILIES, anybody with multiple bags or kids. HORRIBLE!!!

    Hertz presidents circle line? Ridiculous

Car rentals are getting worse and worse. Booked through hertz online as a president circle member. Idk why I can't just pick my car and just go. There was a long line to get cars when everyone was on a time crunch. I just picked whatever car they delivered next in line bc I didn't want to waste my time. I've booked several times and the cars always smell like weed or cigarettes. I didn't even feel like I am getting an upgrade and the president circle membership holds no meaning. There's always a long line in the customer service office and to get out of the parking lot. The car drop off is pretty much the only thing that is smooth. The shuttle drivers are good.

There was no physical problem with the employee and I. However the issue was the rate I was charged. I was charged 180 through Delta from Jan 3 to Jan 7th. However when I called to see about also doing the military discount, the male on the phone said my rate was 412 all of a sudden. An then he changed it to 340. I went back to the counter and the nice lady helped me and we both saw that my rate was STILL 412. However she was kind enough to help me with a courtesy upgrade. Very bad experience with what is actually paid. 0/10 for transparency and phone customer service. 10/10 for hertz in person location at LAX.

What can I get if I choose the luxury group?

"luxury" is usually a Chrysler 300S at LAX. If you bump into one class higher you can expect Infiniti Q50 3.0t, Cadillac XTS, Mercedes-Benz C300 which are in the Prestige category.

They do have a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes or so from and to LAX, which is extremely convenient.

The entire situation felt…read moremisleading, and I ended up losing about $110 because of how the Fuel Service Option was explained to me. At pickup, I was simply asked if I wanted the fuel option. The employee did not explain that I was prepaying for the entire tank regardless of how much fuel I actually used, or that unused fuel would not be prorated or refunded. Because this was never explained, I filled the tank myself before returning the vehicle. Had they clearly explained how the program worked, I obviously would not have spent additional money filling up a tank I had already prepaid for. When I raised the issue afterward, there was essentially no accountability for the fact that the option was not properly explained. Instead, I was left paying for the prepaid fuel AND the gas I personally put into the vehicle. There were other issues as well. They advertise their vehicles as newer models, but the van I received was clearly an older model and did not match that expectation. Even worse, there were ants inside the vehicle. Between the ants, the older vehicle, the misleading explanation of the fuel option, and the complete lack of accountability afterward, I would not rent from this location again. I feel like I was essentially scammed out of $110 because important information about what I was purchasing was never communicated to me.

The facility itself looks quite new and modern. Once you arrive, you need to go up to the 5th floor following the signs to the rental counter. It's a bit of a walk from where the shuttle drops you off, so keep that in mind if you're traveling with luggage. There are both elevators and escalators available. Once I reached the counter and was helped, the actual rental process took less than five minutes. One thing to be aware of is that the rental clock starts when you sign the contract, but you then have to go all the way back down to the 1st floor to pick up your car, which takes additional time. Almost 20/30 minutes of people in line waiting to get a car. Drop-off was incredibly easy. Just follow the Budget signs, and attendants guide you through the process. You simply leave the keys in a little basket inside the car, and cameras scan the car as you drive in. I'm still impressed by how they somehow knew the car had been returned with the correct fuel level and without any new damage. The rental time stops as you drive into the return area, which takes away some of the stress if you're cutting it close to your scheduled return time. The free shuttle back to LAX takes around 10-15 minutes, but allow extra time for traffic. The shuttle operates on the lower level only, which is the Arrivals level--the same level where you'll be picked up when arriving at LAX. There are plenty of shuttles going back and forth.
