Do not waste your time with these people. I was told that I couldn't pick up the car using the card that I have even though just four months ago I rented three separate cars at the airport location with the exact same card. OK fine no big deal I had booked it through Priceline. I called Priceline as soon as I left Priceline immediately canceled it and refunded me the $54 that I had paid Through Priceline. I have all the bank statements they refunded me the same day now the same card they told me they couldn't use and couldn't charge was already on my Hertz online profile. When I went to pick the rental up, I never inserted or tapped my card and anything as soon as I took it out of my wallet they said they couldn't take it. OK fine I left I ended up going to enterprise. 3 1/2 days after the rental there's a charge to that same card for the exact amount of the rental. I reach out to customer support via the app and am told it's just a pending charge. It'll fall right off tomorrow and I was like OK but how did that charge get made because I never inserted or tap to my card they told me they couldn't accept it and couldn't charge it. They couldn't explain that to me then the very next day it went from pending to an actual charge called them back again. They tried telling me the same thing that it was just an authorization and I said no this is not a pending charge. It has been processed through. They asked me to send them proof. I sent pictures of the bank statement and they opened a case over the next eight days emails back-and-forth from customer support several of them telling me that they couldn't even find the charge that there wasn't a charge and three separate occasions I was asked to send the pictures of my bank statement again I sent all of them still not getting any answers. No one could even tell me why I was charged or even where the charge was on August 14 I called the one 800 number because I tried to call the airport location every single day starting the sixth and guess what no one answered the phone not even once in eight days and we're talking multiple phone calls a day. The woman from the one 800 number was great. She found the charge immediately and proceed to tell me that it's a no-show fee and I said a no-show fee but I showed up and was refused the rental. How is that? A no-show fee and the reservation was canceled I have screenshots And pictures from the cancellation. I have pictures of the refund that Priceline gave me that exact day. Priceline gave me my money back immediately so she was like well. I will go ahead and refund it for you. You'll receive a receipt via email for the refund within 24 hours three days goes by no receipt for the refund no nothing iMessage customer support from the emails. They have been sending me once again on the 18th. I received an email telling me how sorry they are for this whole process And that they're ready to proceed with the refund but they need to speak to me because we can't exchange card information via email, which is funny because you guys took the money without the card being inserted or it tapped into any machine by going on my Hertz profile and charging it 3 1/2 days after but now you can't refund it without talking to me on the phone and getting the card numbers. It is now August 29 11 days after I was told they would contact me to proceed with the refund. I've emailed customer support and no one answer me so I open up a case with a Better Business Bureau. I get a response within 24 hours saying oh we refunded you on August 14 really if you refunded me on August 14 then why did I get an email on the 18th telling me you need to speak to me to get the card numbers and by the way I still had no refund the woman told me on the 14th that it would be 7 to 10 business days. It's been 15 days so I rejected their response sent more screenshots of the cancellation and everything else. These people legitimately just steal money I put a post on my social media about this and within the first 10 minutes it was up. I had over 15 comments on it of people telling me the exact same thing happened to them that they were refused the rental because of their card and then they were charged days later and none of them got their money back so this is just a scam that they do. They refuse the rental and then charge people days later and keep the money. I am proceeding with my complaint through the Better Business Bureau. My next step is to file fraud charges with my bank. My bank is already told me as soon as I'm ready to proceed we can they already have all of the proof from all of the emails. I went in and spoke to them and gave them everything already. Hertz rent a car which is advertised as being at the Manchester airport however it is no longer there - you need to catch a shuttle bus (there are many for various hotels etc however you just need to know which one) - we asked one of the many buses who stop there which one we should get. After waiting over half an hour, we finally were taken to a hotel about 10 minutes drive from the airport and found the Hertz desk. We would never have found it on our own. Hertz should change their pick up details from their advertised location which is why we chose them as it was supposed to be at the airport itself. We were allocated a fairly new hybrid vehicle. We checked the outside of the vehicle and found that one of the panels at the front had come loose and was hanging - it had come unclipped from the clips under, however we - and Hertz staff - were not able to clip it back in. They tried to get us to take the vehicle anyway, however we refused and said we would like another vehicle which did not have issues. Reluctantly they agreed and eventually we were given another vehicle which was very good. We arrived in Manchester and made our way outside the airport to pick up our rental car. The rental agent at Hertz was busy, so an agent from Thrifty said he could help us. He quickly processed our rental request and gave us the keys to a Buick Encore SUV. In looking over the paperwork, I realized that the price on the paperwork was $100 more than the price on our paperwork. My husband went back and the agent quickly corrected the forms. The car was clean with no damage to note. When we returned the car, the agent was no where to be found, but another agent helped us. He was friendly and did tell us how to return a car when there was no agent present. He checked the car over and signed off that all was in good order - no damage - full tank of gas. The Hertz car rental area at Manchester Boston Regional Airport is pretty easy to get to. There is a desk inside the main terminal. If you are a #1 Gold Member, there is a sign directing you to continue onto the rental garage. You take an escalator to an elevated walkway with conveyor walkways, and then downstairs via another escalator and out into the garage. There is not a #1 Gold Name Board here, you will need to go inside the Hertz rental office in the Garage to get your keys. Still, overall it was very easy, and the lady at the counter was very friendly! Make sure the car you are given doesn't smell like cigarette smoke. I explained when I returned it that I got it that way. I could not stay to dispute it upon receipt because I was late for an appointment 100 miles away. I called the next day and they told me to return it which I could not do. No compensation from Hertz for my bad experience. But they did charge me $50 for excessive pet hair. The very small pet was only in the car in a carrier. They are giving me a hard time about reversing that as well. I do not recommend Hertz at this location. read more

Being a frequent renter from Hertz and I use them exclusively, I would normally give them higher marks but was conflicted. This location, you walk to the parking lot to get to the Hertz, so you don't have to wait for the Shuttle bus. However, they don't have late or early hours.. so picking up the car, isn't that bad but dropping it off if you come too early.. its a drop box.. the service at this location has been mixed. oh.. one car you should never rent.. is the Nissan Versa.. It is the absolutley worst vehicle I have EVER driven.. The seat does not move.. not up, not down.. and is the most uncomfortable car there is.. I take car rental ratings with a grain of salt, because most of the extreme ratings center around a specific single event or incident. This location at the Manchester airport was efficient and courteous. It also felt more like a satellite location as the rental agreement seemed more set up inside of 'a booth' than an office atmosphere. (It's possible I missed the main lobby). Definitely not what I'm used to, but the set up at the airport was a little odd to begin with. My only real issue with Hertz in this entire experience was it was more hidden compared to the other rental car facilities, but not hidden enough to where it was a real issue. Just was a little cumbersome when I went to return the car. The best part about all the rental car facilities at this airport is that it is directly connected to the main building, negating the need for any kind of shuttle. read more

I made my reservations on Hotwire, and thought, "oh, boy, Hertz. It ought to be good." Think again. The service desk inside the airport was closed, so we all trekked out to the booth in the parking lot, and stood in line. Only two ladies were assigning cars, so each one was very slow going. However, when I got to the front of the queue, turns out there were some "gold" customers in line. The staff had not been able to get the contracts done for them, so two people in back of me in line were put in front of me. It wasn't a lot of fun, after an all day flight to be standing in the cold parking lot, waiting interminably for them to do the contracts for each of us. Rented a car from this location for 4 days. Returned it not just on time but early. Lots of people were trying to fly out early as there was a big snowstorm predicted. When I returned the car I was told I'd get an emailed receipt. Never did. A week later I got a letter in the mail saying the car was seriously overdue and was at risk of being reported as stolen. I called immediately upon receiving the letter. Hertz informed me that the likeliest reason was that the location forgot to close out the account. They said they would reach out to the location to close the account and would send me a receipt. I have never gotten said receipt. And it seems they closed the account on the day I called, not the day I returned the car. It has been over a month, and I have a $935 charge pending on my credit card. No one from this location has ever communicated with me. Hertz only communicates with me when I call them. And even then they simply give me incorrect information, tell me I am wrong, or promise to get back to me and never do. I think this location is simply part of an incompetent and uncaring chain. In general I like renting from Hertz, but if you are a Gold member, you may be somewhat disappointed here. I walked down to baggage claim and you'll see all the rental car counters. Hertz was right on the end, but no one was manning the counter. Instead, there was a sign to proceed directly to the garage, whether you were a Gold member or not. The signage was confusing to me as to whether or not I was supposed to first go up the escalator or directly out the doors, and as it turns out, you simply go directly outside and walk across the street to the parking garage. Hertz is on the ground level of the parking garage (to the left of the garage entrance). I saw the Hertz booth but was looking around for the board that tells Gold customers what stall their vehicle is in. Oops...turns out there is no board here...you have to go inside and get your keys, etc. Fortunately, there were no other customers when I arrived, so not a big deal, but I would have been ticked if I had to wait in line, especially if there were non-Gold customers in there as well since there was no one at the Hertz counter inside the airport. So while I did manage to get out pretty quickly, I didn't care for the setup here. I asked why there was no board and the reason I was given is that they don't have any security when existing the garage. Gee, as I pulled out, there was an unmanned Hertz booth and a gate in the open position. So it would seem to me they have the ability to secure it--they just don't choose to. read more

This is the worst rental car experience I have ever had. It was impossible to get in touch with them and they charged me to have my car towed when the keys were in the visor and the at was running perfectly. Hertz corporate also played a part by transferring me to roadside assistance and then setting the ball in motion for it to be towed. I was flabbergasted when I got a call from the tow company and told them it didn't need to be towed. I have no idea how this happened and I hope my CC company will reverse te charges. read more

Never again...we rented a car for 2 days on a short return trip to our home in NH. The computers were down, and so the staff was trying their best to deal with a bad situation they didn't control...no problem. When we got the car with the partial paperwork, I noticed that the car had a least twenty different minor dings and dents. The supervisor told me to just fill out a damage report by myself...still no issues. But when we came back to drop off the car, my 61.88 dollar bill had morphed into 153 dollars! When I said no way (and I hadn't printed out or saved my original contract because of their computer screwup) he called his supervisor, and that's when things went south. She probably didn't know he had put on speakerphone, when she said "no way, that's not possible" that was my bill, essentially saying I was lying! She said "...tell him I'll drop it to a MINIMUM of 70 dollars" with a tone like she was doing a scammer (me) a great favor. Bottom line? Everyone except her did the best they could with a bad situation, but I won't be renting with Hertz in the future after this bad experience. read more

This car rental company is a bunch of crooks! First, I prepay my rental vis Priceline for a MID-SIZED vehicle, and when I get there, they try and offer me a Nissan Versa. Yes, a freakin small-a** Versa! A Versa is sooo not a MID-SIZED car!! Then, they tell me I can pay $5 a day for an upgrade to a Rav4. While the Rav4 was much nicer, it still doesn't excuse the fact that they swindled me out of my original reservation rate!! Finally, a week plus after my trip, and I just noticed a Hertz Plate Pass charge on my credit card account for $16.75!! WTH right?! I had and used my EZ pass throughout my entire trip! i usually won't bother writing a review of a rental car place but this Hertz location is awful! I pre paid for a weekend rental a month in advance but when I showed up, they didn't have a car for me and said there were 15 people in line before me waiting for a car and it would be 2-3 hours till they had one. they admitted they overbooked and said i just needed to deal with the situation and they were sick of listening to people complain. they refused to refund the prepay so i could get a car somewhere else. i got a car 2 hours after waiting in line for 30 mins to be told there were no cars so 2.5 hours after when I should have had it. i understand things happen but they were rude about it, not apologetic at all and super disorganized. they knew how many cars they needed for that day and failed to have them available. they mentioned the same thing happened the day before so this was an ongoing issue which made it worse. they lost a lot of customers that day as no one was happy with the situation and how they were handling it. read more

Poor customer service. We needed to make some changes to our reservation and most were unable to be made at the desk. I was told to call who I made the reservation through (Hertz) to make the changes. Well surprisingly the person over the phone was also unable to makethe changes so they told me to call the airport I picked up at. Which was where I was when they originally could not make the change. Once I called they were able to. Our car low tire light went on about 30 minutes into the drive so we had to fill it with air daily. When I called afterwards to inquire about some charges I was transferred around a few times. When I asked to speak with a supervisor the airport location who I had originally called transferred me once again to the platepass company. We selected a specific vehicle months in advance and after waiting nearly two hours in the Hertz lot, they cant find the car. This was after travelling all night with small children and an infant. We needed a 9 passenger van with a long wheelbase to accommodate the luggage so we paid extra to make sure that we would be able to fit everything but they couldn't find it - they had the keys but couldn't find the car. They found a smaller car that would fit us all but to say this thing was a lemon is an understatement. After opening the door the first time the door handle fell off - it literally fell off. The handle to the window was found in the back storage compartment so we couldn't open the window - the tire pressure warning light came on the first day and when we went to fill up the tires we checked the owners manual to see how much pressure was needed and it was for a different vehicle. The front bumper needed to be snapped in every day or it would fall off and the lining to the rear tailgate was loose. When we called Manchester to complain about the car the "gentleman" responded with "well what do you want me to do about it" - he was rude at the very minimum. We ended up paying over $3000 for 2 weeks with a car that was a total lemon. Horrible experience. read more

I rented a car from Hertz at the airport in Manchester, NH with the AAA discount. The service agent charged me for a full tank of gas, after saying I could fill up what I needed upon return with a special AAA discount price. I did not need to fill up at all, but they still charged me for the full tank. On top of that, the Hertz agent was very rude and disrespectful. Number one, I recommend the attendant is fired for extremely poor and disreputable customer service. Number two - I recommend that you NOT use Hertz. They charged me almost twice the discount amount for gas that I did not need. It was outrageous! read more

The location is great...right at the airport, and by that I mean you don't have to take a shuttle to get there. Picking up and dropping off the car was quick and easy, and the attendants were fine. However, the car itself was another matter. The inside had clearly not been cleaned recently -- bits of trash here and there, dirty passenger seat, and the inside windshield was coated with some kind of crud. In addition, the car had NO windshield washer fluid left, so no way to clean the outside windshield until I got to a gas station or refilled the reservoir myself.
