Needed a replacement vehicle after getting rear ended. Six weeks worth. After the insurance company (State Farm) advised me our car would be provided by Hertz, they arranged the whole deal. Hertz picked me up at the auto body shop (Pontos - highly recommended). The paperwork was all done in advance, and and in a few minutes charged me for the 20% deductible for three weeks (we were advised this would be the shortest time to repair $8,000 worth of damage in today's economy) they provided a clean sedan. We had to extend for another three weeks, which was accomplished with a quick call to the same office. Return was a breeze. Nice job, made the ordeal a bit easier. read more

Great service and pricing on my 2 month rental. The first vehicle I rented had a slow leak in one of the tires and when I called Corporate they were less than helpful. This location could not have been anymore accommodating, they quickly swapped out the "leaky" one for another. Hertz on 14th St. in Bradenton is terrible. The first thing we noticed was the car was filthy. While on the interstate we started hearing a scraping noise. Turned out, the front end was damaged and plastic was scraping the pavement. We brought it back and were treated very rudely. No apology, nothing but attitude. This needs a zero option. We rented a moving/ box truck online through Hertz.com. Seems simple. 99% of everything we do is ordered online. Funny, we showed up at the pick up location that the email told us to pick it up at. And when we got there they said that we don't have any box truck's. I said we were told to pick it up here. They said you must have ordered it online. I said we have something called the internet. Why would I make the drive here to rent a truck when everything is done online? They told me they are separate entities?!?! So hertz isn't hertz. His explanation was that just like you rent a car and someone doesn't return the car, they just rent out another car. I said okay but how does that translate to trucks? They said well apparently it doesn't. So shocking we didn't get the truck. And they told us they can't cancel it there we have to go back online because... you guessed it, hertz isn't hertz. read more

Nasty looking on the outside! Dirty rotten liars behind the counter. Shame on Hertz for letting this location represent them. Tom is not a good liar as he said a Tahoe that was reserved couldn't be driven because it had a broken windshield. I walked to the lot next door and examined the entire windshield- no chips or cracks. An hour later the Tahoe was gone off the lot. Either double booked or it was stolen as it was nowhere to be found and Tom said Safelite was coming to fix it. Just tell the truth Tom because you suck at lying. WAKE UP HERTZ THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! Beware when renting from Hertz. I rented a car from Hertz thinking that it was a good company and the price was right. I was to pick it up from Sarasota/Bradenton Airport on Sunday 10:30 am. Due to several issues with the airline I actually arrived after midnight on Monday. As I was updated on my flight I called Hertz customer service to inform them of the timeframe I had. I was told the Hertz counter at the airport would be closed at midnight however to my surprise when I arrived the airline said the car rentals stay open till the last plane arrives at night. I went to the counter and was asked if I wanted to add anything to my rental agreement. I opted for liability on the car and was given a price. I was told my credit card wouldn't accept the extra amount so I said put it on a different card. They said I needed to sign for it as it was a different card and I was not given any of the paperwork with my signature on it to keep. I was also given a much larger SUV then I requested and didn't realize that till I went out to get the car. Nothing was said that indicated that it was a much larger vehicle at the counter. I discovered the next day that I had two charges on two accounts but figured it would take them time to refund the one account. Now it is a couple of weeks later and I still have both charges. The charge for liability is one and a half times the price I was told at the counter and they added premium roadside which I did not ok. I called customer service and after holding for a half an hour I was told that they would send me a copy of the bill and that I had to speak to the manager of Hertz in Sarasota/Bradenton and was given a number which you are unable to get a person as I tried every prompt they had. I am now out $673 dollars that I didn't approve and to top it all off I had to get a battery for the key fob which was supposed to be taken off the price but wasn't. Also the customer service rep never did send me the receipt. I have paid more for extra charges then I did for the car rental. Being on Social Security I would never have approved those charges. So beware when dealing with this company. I have since heard other similar stories so beware before using Hertz. And I am sorry that I had to even give it one star as there is no other choice. read more

Not impressed - Because I used a debt card to pay for my car, they ran a credit check. Customer service is iffy as well. My car was scheduled for pick up although not ready, the car smells of old food covered up with fragrance and the kicker - the next morning after pick up, the warning light for tire pressure was on. I called to let them know and the response I received was "Stop by to have it filled". No question as to if I was able to stop by, no apology to the inconvenience to me.... It won't let me put zero stars, so one will do. I've honestly never been to this hertz location but my card has. It was charged fraudulently $2,160.51 and after talking with my bank and hertz corporate nothing has been done so far. The manager at this location (Hey Tom) SWEARS he remembers going over the contract with me however when I ask to see the contract that I never signed (it's not even signed in my name!!!) I've been told only the renter can have the contract and receipt. For some reason they feel that they can charge my card and not tell me why. All I need is the documents to turn into my bank and I've just been ridiculed by the manager because he won't give them to me but can charge me for it. I JUST NEED THEM FOR MY CLAIM! Don't recommend poor customer service and even if you're not a customer they'll swear they've met you & charge you $2,160.51 without a receipt or contract. read more

We made the reservation over a week in advance. We had to wait an hour to leave with our car. Because our car was being repaired at the auto body shop, we were told to leave the rental car at the collision center. Before dropping off the rental car, we filled the tank at the corner gas station. The tank was full. We just received a bill in the mail for fuel. Won't fall for this in the future. Do not leave the rental car at the body shop per their instructions. Return the rental car, and get the Hertz employee to sign off on the fuel in the car. read more

I made reservations to reserve a cargo van 5 days in advance, even got a email reminder the day before schedule pickup for the cargo van or similar to. I arrive 20 minutes before the schedule pickup and there was 4 cargo van in the lot. the guy saw my reservation ask for my driver license and then ask if I was going get LDW insurance I told him yes and then had me swipe my Amex credit card everything seem good , he then excuse himself to go get the key out the office . he came back and said he was sorry he thought maybe they put a key aside for me since I had a reservation for cargo van , but all the cargo vans outside are already reserved for another customer.Then he offered me a minivan with seats . Which is not similar to a cargo van , I told him I have a Desk and a lot of boxes of stuff I needed to move . Then he questioned me on how I made the reservation for cargo van , I told him on your website the hertz.com. ( I don't know why he ask me that he already admitted that the computer had cargo van reserved for me.) He went back into the office to call Hertz in sarasota to seen if they have any available which they didn't. He told me the manager was going to call the home office and tell them not to make reservations for cargo vans through the hertz .com website .( like that's my problem I'm the customer how does that help me now. they could have at least call me before my schedule pickup to let me know they would not be able to fulfill cargo van rental. ) hertz rental guy suggested I try Enterprise down the road . Worst place I ever have been. Young guy named Alex helped me-lied not only to me but another woman in there & I caught him twice. The car I ordered online wasn't there so he TRIED to talk me into a upgrade(I pay the difference) -I said no so then I got a upgrade free cause my car not there. Then when I went to pay with my bank card (money in bank) they ran my credit advising me it will lower my credit. So I did everything at noon online with a balance at check out when I rent today cost on that day for $278 for cheapest car one week. Got to Hertz at 4:15 & Alex says $478.00. I showed him where I was quoted $278 only & he kinda beat around the bush. I asked to call many office(headquarters) he told me no headquarters to call & his "supervisor" read my whole quote sent to my email & said just legal stuff they don't put in. So $200 is just little stuff they forget to mention. Lol. Alex also informed me my bank would be hit when I returned the car but after all this I canceled it & a woman walked in to return her car only to be upset she had already been billed (told she wouldn't till she returned car too) & they wanted more money now. She was lied to & very upset. Then a guy came in cause the car he ordered online wasn't there & told it would be later so he returned to be told still not there but Alex CAN NOW call headquarters for him. I said-thought there wasn't a headquarters just customer service. He said he misspoke & went behind closed doors to talk to his "supervisor" again. Most unprofessional place & so many lies being told just as I sat there waiting for my ride. I left shaking I was so upset. I found Uber is a lot cheaper/ doesn't affect your credit & they don't lie or try to upgrade u (make u pay) cause what u reserved isn't there. If you go here just beware! read more

I would give 0 starts if possible! I made a reservation for a car over a month ago to be picked up today at 2pm!! When I arrived at 1:20, they were closed and when I called customer service I was told they closed at 1 today, and nobody called to notify me or anything! I have a hotel I already paid for in Indiana and this rental car was the only way for me and my 6 year old to get there! HERTZ has ruined my child's Christmas and the rude attitude I received from customer service was horrible! They don't care they ruined my child's Christmas and cost me a $600 hotel bill since I won't be able to make it! They are the rudest company I've ever spoken to and could not care less about how they lied or didn't even try to call and tell me they were closing early, I would've gladly came earlier but I was never notified! I was told everything was fine when I made the reservation and told to pick up at 2!
