My wife told me that when our daughter went to this Hertz location, the associate, Maria Martinez, was extremely helpful and put her at ease, since this was our daughter's first rental. I don't even want to give this one star! I had the worst experience ever at this location. I reserved a car October 30th for pick up November 17th. I confirmed this reservation several times prior to pick up. When I arrived at scheduled time to pick up I was advised they didn't have any cars available. Umm...what? I made this reservation 3weeks prior. I won't get into the shouting match that ensued between myself and the branch manager over this situation. I never received a rental from them. I never received anything other than being treated poorly! No one apologized or even tried to offer any help. They were all rude and combative and obviously hate their jobs as it clearly shows. The employees there all need some customer service training immediately or they all need to find new professions! Save yourself the headache and rent from Enterprise rental a few blocks away! read more

Today I lost all faith in Hertz Rentals. My daughter had made a reservation for a rental to pick up today after lunch, in Cape Coral, Florida. She made the reservation a few days ago, PRE-PAID as she was coming to Panama City Beach for a family event. Then Hurricane Milton developed in the gulf, heading straight for southwest Florida, Tampa area. Cape Coral is south of Tampa, and is where Hurricane Ian came ashore last year. Anyway, Hertz called my daughter this morning around 9 am and told her the reservation was canceled. No cars available and gave her an 800 number to call to get her refund, in 7-10 days! Now it's interesting to me, she had a car reserved to pick up in a few hours, but because of a storm, canceled her reservation and rented it to someone else, even after it was all paid for. Hertz didn't give a rats ass about my daughter and family, the funds she had paid, nothing. Customer service didn't give a shit either. Said there was nothing they could do. I can only imagine how many others this happened to today in South Florida. So instead, after a few calls, found another company that had cars available and were happy to rent to her, since she was taking it out of harms way. Hertz, you need to take a good hard look at your operations in Southwest Florida. read more

They tricked me into getting car insurance. When I booked the rental on booking.com I declined insurance, since my credit card already covers it. I even have a preferred credit card with an annual fee that covers additional rental insurance. When I went to pick up the car, they didn't mention anything about the extra charges. All they said was to sign the credit card terminal, to place a deposit on my card and had no wording about extra charges. Later on, after I returned the rental, and I saw the actual bill, I saw charges that were at least double what I agreed to on booking.com. I returned it after hours, so I didn't get to speak to anyone about it. I contacted hertz to reverse the charge a month ago, and they never responded. I'm busy with work and other duties, so haven't had the chance to follow up, but want to warn others to question what you are signing and to review the charges with them, before driving away with the card. I didn't expect to be tricked like this and I am deeply offended!! read more

Rented a car got pulled over and found out car not registered....expired a month ago. Wanted to tow the car and ticket me. Cop let me go because not my fault. Hertz issue... told hertz of issue all I got was sorry. Really how about you wipe out the rental fee. They said we can't do that..I will never rent a car from Hertz again. The best make this right. Going through hurricane Ian has been quite traumatic for a lot of people including myself. Progressive insurance reached out to enterprise to get me a 30 day car rental. They were not responsive whatsoever but I will tell you when they sent it to Hertz, Cheri was extremely helpful, kind, Courteous and I will continue to use hurts just because of her. The place was a madhouse, everybody was trying to get a vehicle and she was very calm cool and level headed with the chaos. Thank you so much! read more

When I rented a 7 passenger SUV I expected the 2 options that were stated online. I booked through Expedia. When I got to the location in Cape Coral, I was told that if you book through Expedia that the Hertz location is not required to give you what was promised. So they gave me a mini van. I then asked to add a second driver and they said no problem. However, chose not to tell me that there is an additional charge for this (and - it wasn't on the actual paperwork at pick-up OR drop-off. Not until the receipt came via email did I notice the higher amount than what the paperwork stated. ALSO, shame on Hertz corp for not taking actual calls to dispute charges and also there is no way to call the actual location to dispute charges. Poor management. Go with Turo car-sharing -- it's like Air bnb for cars. read more

If it wasn't for your amazing employee Natalie you would be getting one star. Natalie was the only person working and she took care of every person in there one by one. Although it was about an hour wait she was the only one working and cleaning the cars and getting them ready for people to pick up. She was also patiently answering phone calls with such professionalism. You better give her a raise for dealing with the BS that you put her through. Please do better and hire more people and if you can hire people just like her. She is the only reason you were getting four stars. She is carrying your store location today. I rented a car from them. I paid for the car but my husband drove the car. Apparently they charge 13.50 for the additional driver which they didn't tell us. When I returned the car is when I found out about the charges. The lady lied and said she told us but she didn't. So beware of extra charges when returning the car. Will never use again read more

Horrible experience. Will not rent here again. I had a reservation, so it was not a surprise that I was coming to rent a car. The car was dirty and the gas tank was empty. After waiting 40 minutes for them to"clean the car and fill the gas tank" , it was still dirty. The agent marked the fuel on my contact as full. After driving away , I noticed the fuel tank was only half. What the hell did they do for 40 minutes. Since I had a reservation, the car should have been ready to go when I got there to pick it up. read more

First of all, this review is designed for those of you who need to rent a car with fair to good credit. The customer service desk was very polite and friendly. The rep told me they would do a "soft" credit check . When I asked if that was going to lower my credit score, she wasn't sure. I let her do the check and didn't qualify for a rental on my debit card. There was plenty of money in my account, so I don't understand the credit check. I was told after the credit check, I would have to put the rental on a credit card. I wasn't able to do that, so I thanked them and went to the next rental place. Just for information purposes, the credit check lowered my credit score by 30 points. If you are trying to build your credit, don't do it by allowing the credit check. Sorry Hertz, you were nice, but painful to my credit score. read more

I missed a whole day and had to postpone everything because of them not doing their job and calling us back and not answering the phone. Go elsewhere if at all possible. This is my second time in a row with a horrible rental from hell. I Rented a full size with a free upgrade to premium. Because I chose to prepay I was at their mercy. I was told there were no upgrades available and was given Chrysler 200 as my "premium" upgrade. I saw luxury cars on the lot. This is their bait and switch rental program. Then afterwards I realized the car was infested with biting ants which swarmed out of the passengers seat whenever the car warmed up. Initially Customer service told me the car was drivable and to drive back to Fort Myers airport to exchange it. After another hour or two on the phone talking to over ten poorly trained service agents and multiple numbers they agreed to tow it. I forgot a raincoat and tried to reach the fort Myers airport but left a message. Which was quickly returned and was given the correct number to call. The local managers refunded my unpaid money and offered a gift card. From my experience you will just get screwed over by corporate when you try to rent again. I want a full refund and a customer service number with trained intelligent agents who speak American English. Not a south Asian parrot who can barely order a meal speaking international English. read more

I'm not sure this Hertz location even deserves one star. I wanted to rent a cargo van in May to move my mother back to PA, so stopped in March to discuss options & prices with them. No one could help because computers were down; tried calling for days, they are too busy to answer the phone. Stopped in again, and Mgr Nathalie Ypradieu helped us, arranging the ONE-WAY rental of the van; she only gave me a confirmation number, no paperwork. A bit nervous, we checked the conf # and found it was a 'return to FL" reservation, even though we were quoted $75 for the drop off in PA. Tried to change it online, but could not. We again stopped in to change it, and Nathalie said it can be changed on day of pick up. Mind you, each time I stopped in, it takes about half an hour to get waited on. Finally, May 1 went to pick up the van, and found that we could NOT change the reservation to one-way. After 1.5 hours to get waited on and work the problem (I was on the phone with the 800 customer service, as the service desk clerk was alone & had to clean cars for incoming customers), we finally had to cancel the order. UHaul down the street gave us a truck (bigger than needed), but it was clean, not much more expensive and great customer service. I had sworn off using Hertz 6 yrs ago after a prior problem, but talked into trying them again. For sure will not ever use Hertz. They are the worst, and only have any credibility based on their well-known name. Don't waste your time. read more

i found them to be very nice, clean, efficient, punctual. they are small so they don't have alot of cars and they share a building with another firm, COLLISION(?) but on the whole, they were a fine operation and Anna took great care of me. read more

Terrible rental experience! I should've listened to Kevin M.! We reserved for a compact car since we were traveling quite a distance. When we went to pick up the car they wanted to give us a Jeep Patriot which is not that great on gas. After being told they had no other vehicles available we agreed to take it. Upon inspection my husband realized the 12v didn't work, he explained to the agent that we needed our GPS and would be unable to charge it. The two agents behind the counter seemed mildly irritated but agreed to give us another car. When we got in that car the " Check Engine " light was on! My husband told the agent and she proceeded to tell us it would be fine and it " just needed a maintenance". Seriously? You expect us to take a car to South Carolina from Florida with the check engine light on? After going back and forth with her she finally said she would give us ANOTHER car but had to go pick it up. After being there for an hour already she shows up with a car that has a broken seat! The seat would not go back and my husband was practically against the windshield! AGAIN...the agent debates with us and tells us we're " not doing it right" and wants to give us a lesson in holding the lever down and moving the seat back. Trust me...it was broken. Finally just asked for our money back and went down the road to Avis. They also couldn't release the $200 hold on our credit card..we had to wait for it to " fall off". Ridiculous all the way around. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere. Hertz used to be the top name in the industry, it's a shame they can't be trusted any longer. read more
