I was stressed out because the reason for my trip was quite stressful. Anywho- I had booked a car with Budget and tried to get my vehicle but the young man at the counter was so rude to me, inconsiderate and not helpful at all. Turns out there are some new rules at Budget that hinder a car rental unless you have a credit card. The young man wasn't even going to tell me that Alamo could help me so I would've been stranded in a strange place, all alone- what a butthead! Thankfully I walked down the line and saw sweet Barb who greeted me with a smile and promptly helped me and gave me a free upgrade to an SUV since the weather up north was showing snow. Barb helped me to start my journey off on the right foot and she made me feel cared for, safe and like she actually wanted to make sure her customer was treated with respect. Barb is AMAZING at what she does and I was just so thankful and appreciative of her understanding and hospitable nature. Barb is a big asset to Alamo Rent A Car, she will make your experience easy, quick and even fun with her kind words! She really cares about her customers and that is a great employee! But instead of refunding my account, Avis CHARGED me: $3,408.90 and when I called to discuss their mistake was told to email my original e-receipt because the only one they had on record was the incorrect $3,408.90. When I tried to escalate this to a supervisor, the customer service rep. kept me on hold for over15 minutes, so I hung up. The reason I signed up for Avis and became a preferred member was because of their customer service. Today, that service is long gone, and they are not at the top of the list. I would look at renting from Hertz - as they are much more professional and have outstanding customer service.

We had flown on a red eye to Minneapolis and connected there to get to Duluth. When we got off the plane, we went down to get our car. There were two service agents working. We waited in line while the customer service agent, who was middle aged (I didn't see her name) help a woman in front of us. They had a nice time talking, and she got her car and was on her way. When I got up to the counter, I told the agent that I had a reservation under our last name. I then gave her my last name. She then said to me, "What's the first name?" I told her my name. She then repeated, "What's the name?". So I said it again. She then said again, "What's the name?". Now I was thinking she could understand me, so I said my name and spelled it. She looked at her computer and said to me, "Could it be Karen?. I was so tired that it didn't hit me what she had just done until a couple hours later after I rested. At the time, I thought maybe it is under my husband's name? I was receiving the confirmation texts, so I thought it was under my name. So, I then said my husband's name and she said I have that. Then she said, your reservation isn't until 1pm. It was almost 11am. I have never had a car rental company question the time. My husband said, "Can we upgrade?" She then said, I have a car for you. She was curt the whole time! She never asked if the reservation might be under someone else name. My husband was standing behind me because he was watching to see when our luggage came down the carousel. She knew there were two of us, and that is usually the second question a customer service agent asks. She was very nice to the single woman in front of us. And to call someone a "Karen" is unacceptable! And we thought we were going to need to wait until 1pm to get our car. That's not pleasant when your exhausted. The whole experience was disappointing, particularly because Enterprise is my car rental company of choice, but sadly, not anymore.

So I had to await their opening, which wasn't gonna be for several more hours. I had to drive to MSP to catch a flight. So I proceeded to DLH to explain and see options. They were a bunch of help. They were able to conduct the mod' at no additional charge. That made this possible. Surprising to me that the dropoff location was able to do what the main personnel couldn't. After getting the vehicle and having the person at the check out gate not be able to pull up the reservation, I went back to the counter and spoke with Tyler. I explained to him that I had been positive that I'd reserved a vehicle but could not find the reservation email so asked what he could do to help me/ my family out with a van for a few days. He was super nice and helpful getting us set up on the spot and what was even more pleasantly surprising was that he gave several discounts to make the charges very favorable (when he could have easily charged more given the circumstances)!!

I made a reservation for a 12 foot truck…read moreon 8/29/2017 for a rental on 8/30/2017 and, stupidly I'll admit, gave them my credit card information for the reservation. On their website it states that the reservation is not a contract and that I wouldn't be charged until I got the truck. I then realized that I wouldn't need such a large truck and since Budget doesn't offer vans or pickups I decided to go through a different company. I canceled my reservation ahead of time and was sent an email confirming my cancellation. Today I was charged $50 for canceling within 48 hours of when I was supposed to pick up the truck. Mind you, I made the reservation less than 24 hours from when I was planning to pick it up, and was given absolutely NO indication that I would be charged a cancellation fee except for one buried in the terms and conditions. I of course called customer service and spoke to 3 different people, the first HUNG UP on me when I asked for a refund, and when I finally got ahold of a supervisor, he said that there was nothing he could do because I "canceled to use another company." On the reservation page when it asks for a credit card it gives absolutely no warning that you may be charged even if you cancel, and even gives an assurance that "the reservation is not a contract." My question to you, Budget Car Rental, is how uncompetitive do you as a company have to be when you charge $50 to anyone who decides to rent from a competitor? This business practice is obscene and unethical, and treating your customers like this is an unsustainable business model. I also believe that in most states, especially Minnesota, it is illegal to mislead consumers in this manner. I hope that Budget will do the honest and ethical thing and make this right, because as a broke college student about to start school, I can't afford to be stolen from and I will make it my lifes mission to spread the word about how bad Budget Car Rental is.

When my vehicle had slid off an icy road and the front bumper and grill were damaged, I took it to Arrowhead Auto Body. They gave me an estimate to have it looked at which was accompanied by a strong opinion that it would be costly to repair and that parts needed to be replaced. I didn't have the funds that day, which seemed to annoy the representative in addition to the fact that I didn't want to dive into a repair before the vehicle was even looked at to assess the damage. I was told I could only leave it parked there for a day or two. So, thankfully, I saw that another shop, Everything Automotive, was across the street, and I took it there. The customer service was awesome, and they actually even let me keep the vehicle parked there for 1-2 weeks until I had the money for a potentially costly repair. When they checked everything, there wasn't any actual damage that needed repair. When I came to pick it up, they didn't charge me anything. The whole experience was a surprise and felt like great customer service and just kindness. I'm sure that Arrowhead Auto Body has allowed for many positive experiences, however, because of mine, I would tell a friend to consider other shops or at least get a second opinion. I've continued to have really great experiences at Everything Automotive. Arrowhead Auto Glass (full auto body shop) is also a good shop.
