He was super nice and helped me put my suitcase in to the trunk because I pulled a muscle in my back. The car was comfortable and drove well. I returned it early and checked to make sure the key was in the lock box on time. Called a day later and Luciano was so helpful. He said everything was good and my bill was closed out. Showed up to a car reservation that I had booked over a week in advance. The rudest employee and every single car is booked. Except when we were left stranded in parking lot, a car was returned but he was too lazy to clean it and fix it. I booked my reservation June 11th for pick up June 26th to leave the next morning and they had the audacity to call me the morning of the 26th to advise they won't have a car for me because it's "very busy". After being involved in a car accident, my insurance company set me up with a reservation at hertz. Upon walking in, the office is solid white with no decor other than hertz policies. The people in front of me had reserved an suv for moving. The staff said they did not have their vehicle and apologized. I noticed the employees fingernails were filled with dirt and unkempt, much like the rest of my experience would be. I had 2 options, 1 being a tesla which I cannot charge and was not an option to me. I'm glad I didn't roll the dice with it as the car I got was on empty. I got my vehicle which was not 100% covered by the insurance allotment, but what choice did I have? After doing a walk around and seeing bird feces on the car, my expectations were low. The car was filthy, from the seating area to the trunk. It's like they leave the cleaning up to the customers. Not pictured is rust marks in the trunk and suction cup marks on the windshield (it wouldn't focus on them). This is one of the worst locations I have been to date. In the past I have gone to the location in Huntington on Jericho Turnpike which suddenly closed over night. The Hicksville location has the worst workers out of any location, not one has been nice in the past year since the original manager left. This location never has any requested cars. The worker last time said he just works off the list of names and doesn't even have enough cars to cover today's rental. Someone needs to hide a secret shopper in this location for a few months, you would be shocked of his disorganized and nasty they are. read more

I'm extremely angry right now. I had one of the most outrageous and worse experiences with Hertz that I have ever had. I have President's Circle and that makes no difference in Hicksville. I try to call nonstop for the last few hours and cannot get a live person to pickup and yes I'm calling during business hours. I rent from this location nonstop, the last two rentals have been miserable and nothing is changing. The first problem was July 4th weekend, they did not have the type of car I needed and gave me an electric car to turn into the airport to switch after being at the Hicksville location for over an hour. After being at LGA for over an hour for a car I walked out with a smaller vehicle and was a few hours late to my destination. Now comes today, I received an invoice and am beyond livid.... *I got to the location a little before 6pm and left the keys in the box like I always do, I've rented from this location for years. *If someone thought, they were missing keys wouldn't they call the customer instead of one week later sending a receipt and invoice for an additional $294.60 for a lost key. *When I went to the location, they did not have the type of vehicle I had paid for available which was a 5 passenger SUV, and I was downgraded but still had to pay the same fee. The offered a 4-runner but after looking in the system were not able to rent it, offered a Pickup truck instead. At the end of the day, I had a Chevy Malibu and was told I cannot have my bill adjusted. *The rep that was working that day at my rental was extremely not experienced with customer sales or working in that office, looked like he rolled out of bed in basketball shorts, crinkled shirt, and crocs. Said he never works at this location and was just nasty. I use you nonstop for rentals and have an additional 2 bookings booked right now for work trips. I rented the car Monday June 3 and returned it today Wednesday June 5 at 8:00am. The work hours at this location are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. There was no one at the Hertz Hicksville location at 8:00 this morning. I waited 15 minutes until 8:15am and still there were no employees at work. When I asked the other customers where the person was, they said he was out on break. There was no nobody else there to cover. It was Friday afternoon and the snow was coming down real hard. I spoke with Hertz earlier, who also spoke with my insurance company. I have 30.00 a day for car rental on insurance. The insurance company worked out a deal with hertz to pay them directly and have no money out of pocket at all for me. With taxes and everything it was $30.00a day. I had no way to get to Hicksville to pick up the car, But Hertz said they would pick me up. That was above and beyond the call, Especially considering the amount of snow that was coming down. Go ANYWHERE Else - Do not give these slobs your business! I rented a a car from this place online and was pretty sure I was all set to go. I'm traveling alone with an 18-month toddler and I'm struggling to get into the door at Hertz with my baby stroller and luggage while a Hertz employee stands an arms length from the door on the inside with no intention of helping. The staff at Hertz have always been helpful and kind when I rent from them, which is somewhat frequent for work. The cars have all been rather nice and clean inside. I always book the basic car, but they seem to have a variety of different cars and sometimes I get a free upgrade like a Jeep Wrangler. Once the staff learned that I like a quick checkout with an email receipt, they made sure I was able to easily drop off the car (since I'm usually running to catch a train at the adjacent station). FYI, this location is about a quarter mile from the Hicksville train station and is walkable back and forth. One time there was only 1 staff member working and 2 complicated rentals ahead of me, so it took over 20 minutes to get the car, but it only happened once. read more

Well I took a Lyft to Hertz and when I got there they told me they had no cars even though they had my reservation and there were cars in the parking lot. So to make a long story short I took another Lyft straight to Budget, got a better rate and an upgrade. So lesson learned... Hertz Hicksville will never get my business nor future referrals. My reservation was already made by the time I saw the Yelp reviews of this place but I didn't cancel it because I was very impressed by the customer service rep, John, and felt confident that everything would be fine. I couldn't help but wonder why it had only two stars, and I'm still wondering. I needed to rent a midsize SUV to pick up my kid from college in Pittsburgh. As in the past, I was checking rates through Costco, and for the particular dates I needed, I thought the rates were unusually high, and everything I was seeing had additional mileage fees. Then, through Trivago I found a good rate with unlimited mileage at Hertz on John Street in Hicksville, which isn't far from where I work. Instead of booking on line, my husband and I just stopped by this Hertz office, and John was pleasant, personable, and extremely helpful in setting it up, getting us the same rate that I had found online, and actually showing us the different cars that fell into the midsize SUV category. A few times in between, we needed to change the reservation dates, which was done seamlessly. John also happened to be working when we picked up the car, so, again, he showed us different models, and we were able to pick the one that we thought would best suit our needs. The trip went smoother than expected, and we were able to return the car two days earlier with no additional fees or penalty. I highly recommend this Hertz location. read more

When my original plan to rent a car at the Enterprise in Jamaica Queens (https://www.yelp.com/biz/enterprise-rent-a-car-jamaica-2?hrid=Qtqosuin_FEWHixB0L55UA) failed, Hertz in Hicksville saved the day! After looking for alternate car rentals in Queens and Nassau County, Hertz in Hicksville showed availability, with a Compact Car coming in with taxes and fees at $125 from 1:00PM that afternoon until 5:00PM the next day. In addition, this would be my second time using this Hertz, as I rented with them once before courtesy of Subaru when my Subaru had a recall in 2016 and the dealer ran out of loaner cars. With that in mind, I headed from the Enterprise in Jamaica to the Jamaica LIRR, catching a train to Hicksville. Since I knew I would be a half hour late, I called Hertz, informing Stacy, the kind agent on the phone that I would be late and she said no problem and that a car would be waiting for me. After getting on a train at about 1:00PM, I arrived in Hicksville about half an hour later, making a quick walk from the LIRR to Hertz. Once I arrived, I entered the building, where I was greeted by Stacy, the same lady who assisted me on the phone. She once again proved to be fantastic, as she was kind and efficient, making sure to have me on the road in a timely manner. About a few minutes later, she set me up with a Nissan Versa Note, which is a little smaller that the Kia Forte I drive at home but thanks to its shape, was surprisingly large for a subcompact car. While the car did not set my heart on fire, it was clean, in good condition, and made a fine runabout for tooling around Nassau County. It was also thrifty on gas, as when I returned it, I still had just under a full tank. Since my plans on Long Island did not go as planned and I got an earlier flight home the next day, I returned my car early, arriving back at Hertz at just about 2:00PM that day. Since Stacy saw I did not used the car as planned, she only charged me $63, which was more than fair! Also, she handled the return process very efficiently, with it only taking five minutes as she looked over the car and collected my paperwork. This was excellent as I was able to quickly head over to the Hicksville LIRR, where I would catch a train to Jamaica to connect to the AirTrain to head over to JFK to catch my flight. Overall, I would definitely use this Hertz branch again if I needed a car in Nassau County. read more

Scary. First off, when you walk into the place and there's not a soul to be seen you know it's going to be a bad experience. Guy was in his car outside. After he leisurely strolled from the other side of the parking lot, he came in and offered very little help. They had no cars available and when he called someone to find out if he was getting cars he forgot to ask what time they would be arriving. Really on the ball. Personal appearance says a lot about a person. I didn't really want to hand over all my important information to rent a car to a man who has short fingernails except for one really long pinky nail. My son needed my car so I figured I would rent a car for the week to do little errands etc. So let's start with the fact that I called at 9am and was told they wouldn't have a car till later in the afternoon. What?! Doesn't Hertz just rent cars? I mean that's like going to a florist and they don't have flowers. I went online and rented the car for the week. I told the guy when I went there that I wanted it for a week. Well, when I went to school, one week equals 7 days but not according to Hertz (which I didn't find out till the end of the week). 5 days is their week! When I complained, they said that they have different weeks 5 or 7 days?!?!? Are you kidding me?! Oh this is the better part of the service. The weather got a little colder and I went to start the car. It didn't start. Luckily I had a jump box from Sandy storm. I jumped it and figured it was a little issue which wouldn't happen again. I had to jump this car 4 times. Miss Mechanic here! I have chilldren with disabilities so it was too difficult to go back to exchange the car so I waited and just returned it when I was able to and my son returned. I told the manager, Chris, the problem. no one cared. Actually he just looked at me like, who cares! "I will give you a coupon for a discount for your next rental" ($500 I spent on this one). he made me sit there another 20 minutes while he took a private call. I just walked out. Honestly it seemed like they were used to people being upset. While I was sitting there, another person also had to wait for a car and someone called on the phone with a problen and he said he had no time to help them then...go to Great Neck location. This location is suitable for local rentals. Place is walkable from Hicksville train station. No problem with customer service and you get what you booked for. The only thing which was not ok is sometimes you get your cars there filled half tank. And you have to get them back with half tank which is very inconvenient. They do fill the gas full if you want it that way. But you have to wait till they get it filled. Apart from that, its good. read more

Wish there's even a zero start for their business practice. I rented car twice for last 3 months from this location. Both were terrible. 1. Car was dirty, maintance on break was terrible for both times. 2. Made several calls for pick-up prior to the departure date. On the departre day? No one was aware of our pick up, when I called after waiting an hour, and actually took 2 more hours to be picked up and hit the road. 3. I usually put all options for protection and fuel. Got rip-off by their saying I didn't purchased pre-fuel option which was clearly indicated on my estimated bill. Well somehow they didn't see on their system, gave me hard time to sorted out afterwords. 4. Please make sure what you signed for, NO ONE will explain what is written on the reciept unless you ask for. We recently rented a car for a week and we were apprehensive because of all the negative reviews. To our surprised, we were very happy about the service and the car. We got the car in less than 10 mins!! Maybe because we were the first ones there at 7:30am?! Usually it takes us at least 30-45 mins when we rent cars at other places. We also got an upgrade from a standard free of charge! The car was clean and pretty new. The rates were better than some of the other places. The only hiccup we had was when we returned the car, the place was closed so we had to leave the keys in a drop box. They forgot to close out our account so we got a call for not returning the car a few days later. It was not a big deal. We would rent from this place again since it was convenient. read more

The car smelled, the carpets were filthy and there was old pieces of food on the side consoles. Hertz is the equivalent to cheap beach front motels. I wish there was another company to rent from in New York. In general, my experience with Hertz on Long Island is poor. I've rented cars from four different locations. Non-management staff are often careless and rude when managers are off-site. They'll charge you prime rates for filthy cars they know are unacceptable. Last year, a Hertz in Port Jefferson, NY, reserved a car for me that smelled like cigarettes. It was nearing closing time and I had no choice but to take it since my car was in the shop. I addressed the issue with the manager and she gave us a discount. Staff should be held accountable for failing to get the cars cleaned upon return. I shouldn't have to pick up discarded pieces of food or spray the car down with febreeze. It's off putting to get stuck with a rental that smells like dirty ass. So while I appreciate managements' professionalism, I hate renting directly from Hertz. The only time I've received excellent rental cars was when I owned my Cadillac Escalade. Cadillac in Bethpage, NY, took care to make sure rentals were acceptable. I never had an issue when the dealership is involved. First off the place is a dump. Security cameras hanging lifeless off the building ( what if you drop off a car when they are closed and someone hits it in the lot), filthy unkempt building. Take the time to flip through the agreement lots of hidden costs for example if you don't return the car with a full tank its $9.99 a gallon. When purchasing insurance through hertz, it was quoted at $9 bucks/day however when you process payment that charge went up to $18 bucks. I had to go into the back garage to find an agent. Just simply unprofessional. Another thing that urked the crap out of me is that it takes 24-48 hours to refund your security deposit of 200 dollars I booked through Kayak next time I will try to use Enterprise located close by. IF you do decide to rent from Hertz, especially for this location, my advice is to make sure you have a reservation in advance. List of reasons why I took away stars: 1. Client Service - As someone who works in a client facing position, I may have a more strict view of what is acceptable, so keeping that in mind, I found the client service at this location was disappointing. There was a separation between their Car Sales operation and Rental department which is completely logical, however their treatment of customers coming in off the street was cold/disinterested at best. 2. Client Service Extended - I accept fully that a business has many parts, but it's very disheartening to see staff lazing about while there is a line of people waiting for service and worse, when someone decides to open up an additional terminal to help the line which is increasing in size, it would be nice if they showed something other than utter disgust for having to be in their post. 3. Client Service Finale - The interaction with the representative of Hertz was straight out of what I'd imagine is the definition of a sociopath. I'd elaborate however it's difficult to put into words the way they made me feel. 4. Pricing - There is apparently differing pricing between at the counter and online. Even if you make the reservation on the spot online Hertz reserves the right not to honor a price or reservation if it is made within 1 hour of pick up (according to the representative). 5. Accuracy of availability - Prior to arriving at the location, I used the Hertz website to check their availability and it seemed reasonably full (wide variety of vehicles were available) however once arriving, they informed us that only 1 vehicle was available, The representative noted that it was quite normal for availability to be incorrect on the website, and my experience with their hourly car rental service (Hertzondemand) corresponds with that. A brand which I once respected and considered among my top options for reliability has fallen completely off my list of viable options. read more

I booked a rental 2 weeks in advance, and when I went to pick it up I received a DISGUSTING cigarette box of a car and was told by the rep at the store they would call me when a new vehicle came in. Now, I cannot even get in contact with anyone from that location to ensure they have a vehicle from me. I have been moving things with this vehicle and now my personal belongings reek of cigarette smoke, ruined! No apologies, no discounts for the trouble, just wasting MY money for gas and time on a 2 hour drive to fix something that was never my fault in the first place. NEVER AGAIN. read more

This has been my worst experience with a car rental. I was in an accident and got a car that had a maintenance required light. I was told it was serviced and needed nothing. On my way to work on the parkway I had a flat tire...and needed roadside assistants which I paid $70. The office showed no responsibility, compassion, nothing.. to top it off it was dirty and my daughter picked up an e cigarette from the second row..
