Electric Vehicle Reservation Disaster at Hertz Highland, IN I reserved an electric vehicle and even confirmed by phone that a Tesla would be available. When I arrived, I was told no EVs were on-site due to A/C issues--no email, no call, no courtesy notice. They tried to give me a gas car instead. When I asked why EVs were still bookable online or if another location could help, the staff gave no real answers. The employee was rude and refused to provide his name when I asked to file a complaint. Completely unacceptable experience. I expected better from a major company like Hertz. Every single time I come to town, I rent from this hurts. I think only one time I didn't have a car that was what I had really envisioned but the staff and this team has always been stellar and their selection of vehicles has always been great as well. My company booked a long term car rental a couple days ago as supplemental until my company car is available. Apparently they don't have cars available and was not informed until I reached out to them. Their only recommendation was call them back each day at noon or call other locations to see if they have availability. Completely unprofessional way of handling a "reservation" that their system accepted from my company. The recommendation was basically for me to figure it out. read more

If I could give 0 starts I would....Came in here this morning for my car rental that my insurance supplied me, I spoke to the lady named jayme at the front desk after walking in. She told me the vehicle isn't ready just yet even tho my car insurance sent me here to pickup a vehicle. I sat and waited 20 minutes for them to tell me it's going to be about an hour wait. When I asked why the lady she caught an attitude even tho the pickup for the vehicle was supposed to be at a earlier time (50 mins ago at this point). Shouldn't I be the upset one ? They told me the vehicle wasn't ready yet because they had to "clean the vehicle" I do not recommend this establishment to anyone who is seeking to rent a car as they are very unprofessional and seem to do things last minute. rented a vehicle from this location through my insurance , after returning there vehicle . with more gas then it originally had at time of rental. needed a ride less then two miles up the road. i was told we don't give rides only to and from body shop . WORSE HERTZ RENTAL LOCATION EVER. HIGHLAND, INDIANA. I reserved a full-size car online and when I got there they didn't have any full-size cars only SUVs. They tried to make me pay $100 for an upgrade. The guy behind me was returning a full-size car so I asked if I can rent that one. I was told I could, the car just had to be washed. The lady working there made a few phone calls then 5 min later told me that the rental was unavailable because the plates were expired. I said so the plates expired after the man returned it and the lady said yes, with a straight face. I went outside to check the car and she lied to me. Plates expire at the end of the month. 6/2021 the day was 6/8/2021. My girl also went there for a rental and they actually ran her credit. Hertz have good prices but this location is the worst. I dropped off my rental Monday evening and left my wallet in the cars center console accidentally.. didn't realize it till Wednesday night when I needed my wallet so I called them on Thursday to check the car and was told nothing was turned in the person on the phone went to check the car and came back and told me he checked the car again and nothing in it.. I asked if he checked between the seats he told me he checked between and under the seats back seat etc etc so I asked him if he's sure that's the right car? Can you check the system? "Our system is down right now" so I said ok no problem I'll call right before you close to see if you can verify it's the right car.. "our system is down and won't be back up till Monday" yes exactly what he said.. on Thursday at hertz rental car a national car rental place their system is down and won't be back up till Monday... I wasn't in a place where I could do anything about it I'm in town for training and don't have a ride to get to them so I said thank you and hung up, next morning (Friday) I call and ask to speak to a manager and the person on the phone says he's a manager I explain the story and what the person on the phone told me and turns out it's the same guy I talked to last time and get this... "oh you mean the car you dropped off a week and a half ago?" Lmaooooo suddenly Monday evening to Friday is a week and a half ago and mind you I called Thursday as soon as I could What a joke but it's ok karma exists even if they didn't take the wallet telling me their system is down till Monday on a Thursday? And telling me I dropped the car off a week and a half ago? On Friday? Whatever dude they couldn't even tell me if the car was rented out between the time I dropped it off and the time I called in about the wallet.. read more

Fast, friendly service. It seems like they gave us some misleading information at first, in regards to who could pick up the car. But once we got that all straightened out, everything was perfect. In fact, it was a minor glitch, and had it not occurred, I'd give them 4*'s! The glitch was that we rented the vehicle online. No biggie, everyone does it. Then I found out that the date of pickup, I'd most likely be at work. Initially I was told that I either had to go back online and switch my reservation to my wife's information, or I had to pick the vehicle up myself. They said they couldn't accept someone else's reservation, other than who made it online. When my wife called over there and got someone else, they said it was no big deal. It turns out that I was at work, and she went over and picked up the vehicle with no issues whatsoever. When we returned the vehicle, we were in and out in about 5 minutes. We dropped off the vehicle, my wife went in (again, because she had to use her credit card because she picked up the vehicle), and that was it. They came out, looked it over, confirmed no damage, and we were on our way. The vehicle was clean, inside and out, and only had a few thousand miles on it. I needed to rent a car because my mother was in hospice and didn't have long to live. We needed to drive out of state to see her. Now I normally rent from Enterprise without any problems. Enterprise on Indianapolis road was booked solid. So I made a online reservation with Hertz since they had cars available. Secured it with my debit card. Called to confirm the reservation. Everything was good. My wife and I arrived, gave the young lady our name. She ask for my drivers license and ran it through the card machine. I asked her if they offer any VFW or Veteran discounts. The young lady ask another lady in the office in the back. She came up, and wrote something and gave it to the young lady. I assumed it was the Veteran Discount. after about a minute or so, the young lady tells me she couldn't rent to me because I was using a debit card and my credit score wasn't high enough. I said WHAT? I ask her why she did she run my credit score without my authorization, and why was everything good to go online till we arrived. Now i'm a retired army Veteran and a member of the VFW, so I been around the block a few times, I can spot profiling when I see it. That being said, I called enterprise 800 number to ask them the next location near us that had cars available, They said Gary. The Enterprise customer service booked the car, I gave him my debit card. He said since i'm using a debit card, they would have to hold 50.00 over the reservation cost. We said no problem. We drove to Gary, they had the car ready and I was able to see my mother. Hertz was horrible, I will never try and do business with any Hertz because of their profiling. Horrible way to support the veteran and military. If you need to rent a car, go to enterprise not these guys. read more

The car was brand new and had the trunk space I needed for a stroller and a couple suitcases. The hertz location is getting more popular so you have to show up at your scheduled time or risk not getting a car. The weekends are really busy and they schedule pickups and returns to close in my opinion (but it's ideal for business I guess). read more

Worst experience ever. Never working with this company again. Not only were they unwilling to stay open TWO MINUTES PAST 6, they were rude and uncaring. I rushed after work to get there to sign a form, when my mom had already informed them I would be AT MOST 5 minutes late, and just as I pulled in I see the open sign still on, but the doors locked. Another man sat in the parking lot as well and we both looked at the time and it was 6:03. He said he was there at 6:01 and they were already locked. I even tried to call the place and the service numbers provided are utter crap. Attempting to get a hold of anyone even on customer service is a joke. I'd rather spend the extra $20 and work with Enterprise down the street. People save your time and work with a company that cares about their clients. read more

I filed a claim through my insurance and was direct to this location. Long story short, there cars are dirty, and poor quality. The manager is an asshole and treated me like garbage when I called to inquire about extra charges. He argued with me telling me what another employee told me when he was not present to hear it. He then agrees to reimburse me the extra charges that was taken out of my account. After a week or two later realizing I never been reimbursed I was then talked to rudely again.. hung up on then told I hung up( how sway when I'm the one who called back) then left me on hold which I am currently waiting for him to get back on the phone just to be rude to me again.. little do he know I write reviews.. alot of reviews.. my advice go to Enterprise, I never had this many problems with them and for me to already be distressed because of an accident just mad this experience that much worse. read more

I made reservation with Hertz over a month ago. Yesterday I called in to the customer service number and was given the wrong information about pick up. The first time my boyfriend goes in and he was told that he couldn't get the car even though we were just told this yesterday.The young lady helping him refused to give her name when asked.I called in later to see if we could still pick up the car and while I was talking to Ben on the phone he hung up the phone. I had to call back to find out his name and it was Ben.It was time for him to leave so he just hung up the phone.I was also told that if we wanted to add a driver to the rental we would have to go to another location to do.I have never had such bad customer service. The staff was very rude, imcompetent and unhelpful. I called the customer service number after talking with Peter (The only person who was able to give me a straight answer and also good customer service) to see if we could pick up from another location and was told that the price would be almost a hundred dollars more.Now my whole trip will have to be canceled because the wrong information was given out. read more

Hertz was the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I rented a car with a bad tire. On my way to Chicago the tire completely shredded leaving me stuck on the South Side of Chicago. I spent 5 hours trying to figure out how to get it fixed, called multiple times trying to request a tow, and resorted to calling my insurance company so I can get out of the unsafe neighborhood I was in. I ended up paying out of pocket 100+ to buy Hertz a new tire for their car and a tow. When calling Hertz that following Tuesday, after Labor Day weekend, Peter answered and was completely rude to me and pointedly told me that they will not help me. I asked Peter for his name and position and at first he would not give it to me. I called the manager, Jeff, the next day to explain what happened to me, how the tire service said they most likely filled that tire up with too much air, and how RUDE Peter talked to me on the phone and he stated that he will handle it and give me my refund on the tire. I called Enterprise in a frantic thinking I was renting under them and they were so willing to help me. Upon returning the car the girl at the front desk said that she could not take the receipt without the manager present and that I had to come back on Monday so they can refund my card. After I went out of my way to return the receipt Peter told me to call the manager. When I finally talked to Jeff he said he could not give me a refund, after he promised, because we didn't return the receipt to him the day we were giving back the car. JEFF never disclosed this to us and his sales team turned us away upon turning in the receipt. It did not phase Jeff that I told him I'm taking him to small claims and getting my lawyer involved. He was very rude and yelled at me on the phone. I'm already letting my family, friends, and coworkers know never rent from Hertz. Better yet my coworker was sitting next to me overhearing how rude Jeff was speaking to me and he said he will definitely go to Enterprise over Hertz. I had a horrid experience with this branch and I will never recommend them to anyone. read more
