Rented a car with the fuel option (with a full tank of gas) When I picked up the car, hertz said the car wasn't full with gas. I put in more gas than it had when I returned it. The store refuses to take off the fuel option. And I'm a President Circle member. This is absolutely the worst business of any kind. I will never step into this place again! read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would. Made an online reservation weeks ago and they called us the day before to let us know that they were having difficulties finding our rental choice but would call back to confirm. We never got a call back so decided to call instead and they confirmed they would have the car. Wouldn't you know, we get there today to rent the car and they didn't have it. Total waste of time at this location. Manager does not even care that he and his staff are providing such horrible service. Spare yourself and don't rent from this horrible location. I also should have checked reviews. The car was filthy inside - actual gooey substance in cup holder. And the price was ridiculously high for a one day rental. I would never rent from this location again. The only positive was the location with respect to hotel locations - easy pickup. I called to request a call back from management and never heard back. Corporate Hertz should not allow franchisees to function in this manner - no wonder they have filed for bankruptcy - horrible service and product. read more

They did not have car that was reserved. They lacked customer service. Both the man and woman working disregarded us. It was 10 Minutes before anyone even said anything to us. They offered no other solution and did not even take time to talk with us. read more

This is a class zero facility. First of all they put you in a car that is inaccurate based upon what you ordered. Then they put you in a car that smells like urine and feces and refused to change you to a different vehicle. They don't even markdown that the cars been in an accident and the back and has marks all over it. This place needs a total renovation of management and employees. In my 18 years of renting vehicles it is probably the worst facility I have ever been to. I know management does not care about the people they are serving in the community. During my posting of this review, to be fair to the company, they did allow the urine and feces smelling car to be returned in place of another vehicle. The newer vehicle did meet and exceed all expectations. They did up-charge the newer vehicle at $7/day as it was a different class of vehicle per management. Unfortunately, the next day, the tires were all low prior to departing Jacksonville and required more air to make it to the destination. I am unsure of the policies that are in place for maintenance on these vehicles but I would think a routine oil change, topping off fluids, and a multi point inspection routinely would at least be performed. I am unsure if this facility performs such service on their vehicles otherwise the lower pressure monitoring system may not have alerted us of the problem. read more

The car you reserved, WILL not be available. Tiny lot with nothing but "we don't have the car you reserved available" SUV style cars. Customer service was truly below poor when there is phones ringing and people talking to you about your car rental... its like a constant phone ringing background that gets annoying after 5 minutes while you're trying to tell then you wont pay extra for the unsolicited upgrade. Talk about under staffed.honestly... i would rather pay Avis DOUBLE and you still go out better just because they don't TRIPLE your car rental total charge your credit card without authorization for three times the agreed amount. Made an online reservation. The reservation summary gave men one price but when I dropped off the car, there was a much higher price charged. Awful customer service. Gave our rental away because our thought was delayed. Refused to rent us another car after we asked a simple question about charges. Bad attitude and basically kicked us out. My car was rear ended in an accident. State Farm said they could give me a free rental while my car was being repaired. They suggested hertz. I called Hertz because I wanted to clarify a few things before I even did business with them. I asked them their policy when the insurance company is paying for the rental. They still charge me $50 and run a credit background check. "Soft credit check" is what The man on the phone said. This honestly disgusts me I would never do business with them ever. Waited a while but finally got the car for a one-day rental beginning Friday. Returned car early, on time, on Saturday morning. No one was there, though I hadn't been told to expect that when picking up the car on Friday. Used the form and key dropoff box. Monday started getting calls that the car was overdue. Called the local office and they said it was a computer problem and an automated message. They confirmed they had the car. Then about 10 days later I get a credit card charge for $80 more than the agreement. Tried calling the local office but got waylaid to a national operator. She would not fix the problem, said she'd have to confirm with the local office to check their cameras. That would be the office that had already confirmed it and was not answering their phones. Meanwhile, the national operator did not even transfer me to a supervisor when I asked. Said I'd have to wait 48 hours. How Hertz is still in business with this kind of customer service is beyond me. Why should the customer have to go through all this grief when the company has made all the errors? Try Enterprise for your next rental, as I will. read more

Avoid this Hertz! The other 1 stars review should have been a clue for us. Unfortunately we prioritized the convenience of the location over our better judgement. We booked a toddler car seat for our son in our rental car. When we arrived they gave us a booster seat intended for children twice the weight of our son. The women at the counter refused to accommodate us and claimed that she was only obligated to provide "a car seat" and not a specific type of car seat. For any parents out there, you know how atrocious and dangerous this is. She would have told someone with a new born baby to use the forward facing booster seat intended for children 40lbs and above. Disgusting and irresponsible. We were left stranded and I had to go run out and purchase a toddler seat. We'll need to discard this seat after our 4 day rental and the Hertz Agent at his location refused to reimburse the cost. I intend to escalate this to Hertz corporate when they reopen on Monday. This is disgusting and incredibly dangerous behavior from a corporate chain. AVOID read more

Rental was not at rental location when I arrived to pick it up. No apology. Was told I could wait for rental to be driven over or drive to another location 20 minutes away to get it. The excuse given was "typical Monday". Drove to new location and still had to wait for rental to be cleaned. Rental rate was not rate quoted in email confirmation so had to wait for that to be sorted out. Again, no apology for inconvenience. When I asked about discount for my inconvenience I was given a $15 discount. Upon return, no agent was at return location and I was asked to wait for an agent to drive over to receive the return. read more

I would like to echo the comments of the earlier reviewer. This is a franchised Hertz facility, and I think that they are inherently dishonest. STAY AWAY!!!! I don't think you can generalize to Hertz because I'm currently working with the corporate office to rectify the problems I've had with the Jacksonville Beach branch, and the corporate customer service has been fine. We'll see if they will refund the additional $400 I was charged by the Jax Beach location. We did have our 10 pound dog with us. He was shaved before the trip, but his white hair was on the seats. This facility charged us $200 for "detailing." There was no other issue. The dog did not mess in the car. We did not spill. Vacuuming was certainly necessary, but don't they vacuum after every rental? What about the crumbs, food products, dirt and garbage that is left in a car? Moreover, the manage told me that i had violated Hertz policy because they don't allow pets. I called Hertz, and not only do they allow domestic animals in their rentals, but they say that a maximum of $100 can be charged for pet hair. I told the manager this, and he dismissed it. Not wanting the headache and at the end of my rope, I said that I'd pay the ridiculous "detailing" fee if he'd please refund the other $200 in charges that were OVER AND ABOVE my written estimate.
