As I was going through the car buying process I get to the end and find out the car was incorrectly listed at $12,800 and the correct price was $15,750. Unfortunately they figured this out after doing a hard credit pull. I hope this is just incompetence and not a bait and switch scheme. To the person getting ready to purchase a car from here, just know there is at least one instance where the car price has changed between you agreeing to the price and finalizing the sale. We have used Hertz 3 years in a row when visiting LA, this was our first time using this location. It's a very small lot making it difficult to get in and out of. The office seemed to only have 1 person working at both pick up and drop off, but we are quickly attended to. The first car we were set up with was very dirty, the hub caps were cracked, and the body had some damage. We went back in and got another car, thankfully it was in a quite a bit better condition. It does appear they do not clean the cars, they also had removed the floor mats which was odd to me bc they are there to protect the carpet and make it impossible for the renters to shake off anything the might contribute. The staff were understanding and easy to work with. No issues and we will consider renting from here again! read more

I have rented from this location several times, although prior to today, the last time was 3 years ago. Even then, my experience was good. So, today, having reserved a car for 5pm, their closing time, I arrived a little we early and there were several cars available. Dean, the representative, took me to each and let me chose which one wanted to rent. He shared with me that one had not been cleaned, but offered it anyway. He was super professional, friendly and he had a welcoming sense of humour. I say humour because it is always nice to me when included with professionalism. While going through the "technicalities" of my rental he asked if I wanted to add an additional fee of $25 on top of the coverage I had, to be fully covered. He did this with a no pressure demeanour. Went to drop off our rental....we made sure to look at the charges and I'm glad we did. The guy was charging us for an additional day saying we missed the deadline to bring the car in by...we had a screenshot of our previous charges with another representative to show him we are supposed to get charged $200 less. Also...we dropped the car off 7.5 hours earlier than the so called deadline. We also made sure to take a photo of the gas tank amount since we filled it up beforehand in case they wanted to charge us for that as well. Kept saying what we had was incorrect and it's $200 more. We fought it but I'm sure this happens all the time. Not a pleasant experience nor a friendly one. I wanted to test drive an electric vehicle and also take a small vacation during Thanksgiving weekend. I chose Hertz, and applied for Hertz's membership and received a great deal on a one-week Tesla rental. When I went to pick up the vehicle that morning, I met Steven and Nancy who were both very professional and friendly. Steven gave me the VIP treatment and showed me how to drive the Tesla Model Y, since I had never driven one before. His patience and knowledge while teaching me about the Model Y made me want to buy one on the spot! Unfortunately I had to return the Tesla one day earlier as I had to work. Upon returning the Tesla, Hertz representative Julio was also very professional and patient as he broke down all the costs involved (Tesla saved me about $100 in gas!). Rented a car from this location because my car was getting fixed. I dropped off the rental car at the body shop my car was at on the date it was due for return. They said hertz will pick up the rental car from there. Great, very convenient. A week later I got charged $190 because hertz picked up the rental car way after the due date. I had the receipt from the body shop with the time and date on it to prove them I returned it on time so I can get my money back. The guy said it'll take about a week for my reimbursement. 2 weeks later, still no reimbursement. I call hertz to see what's up and the guy says, hmm that's weird, I'll email the reimbursement team and update you again. A week later, still no upate nor my money back. I guess I will try calling hertz again for like the 6th time to see what the heck is going on. I'm pretty sure I'll get the same old answer, the "hmm that's weird!". Another thing I want to complain is that the lady there working will pick up your call but will put you on hold and forget about you. Had that happen to me twice. I got into a fender bender not long ago, and I was using rental cars to get around town while I waited for my car to get repaired. Since the guy who rear-ended me was honest, I was able to get a rental car through his insurance. This took me to Hertz in Torrance. I walked in and told them what I was looking for. They were able to set me up with just that, and had me on my way in not time. Their drop-off procedure is as seamless as their pick up. The folks here were friendly and energetic. This place gave away our reservation on Thanksgiving weekend! Their online reservations say nothing about the 2 hour limit we were told about. Then we were told the only thing available was an Infiniti. When I said, "We will only be charged our original rate right?" She said ,"No, I'll have to charge you for them upgrade." Since I sold my truck a couple weeks ago, I have rented two cars from Hertz and shockingly, it's been a fantastic experience. I haven't rented a car in years and last that I remembered, it wasn't a quick or even pleasant experience. My insurance, AAA scheduled the car rental for me twice and it's been a quick and painless experience. I chose this location to pick up my car, because of its a central location to my home and the overall South Bay Area. The first time that I arrived, I was already feeling like I was going to walk into a "car dealership" type of atmosphere, but fortunately, they were very pleasant and professional. I handed them my ID and AAA card. Because I'm a premier member, AAA pays for one day free, which is a huge help and then I pay for any remaining days that I need. Either way, I was in and out of there in less than 10-15 minutes. The car was already ready and I was given the keys to a 2019 Toyota Carolla. It was such a fun little car. It had been a really long time since I drove something so small. I've been driving a Chevy Tahoe for years and I was used to the height and feel of a truck, but this little car ran well and I had no issues with it. I thought I'd be scared to be in something so small, but it was actually fun. Returning the vehicle was also easy and I was in and out just as quickly as when I rented it. Today, I had AAA reserve another car for me. Again, first day is free. I'm paying for an upgrade (just $7 more) and an extra day. They reserved another economy, but I asked for a midsize. The girl easily switched it for me and gave me the keys and I was on my way in a 2019 Kia Optima. Another nice car. So until I decide on what I'd like to buy, the reasonable prices here, coupled with the quick, friendly and efficient service will do just fine whenever I need to borrow a car. DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION!! I had an 8:30 a.m. reservation. I show up on time, but my car isn't there. I am told that it is getting washed and that it will be there very soon. 30 minutes later the car finally arrives, and 4 people get out of vehicle. Apparently they were using the car as a shuttle. Anyways, that is fine, I just want to get the car and leave now. The driver says that he needs to take the car to get it washed and put gas in. He says he will be right back. WTF. I wait another 40 minutes and finally he comes back with the car. By this time I am extremely late for my family trip and I need to leave. I step into the car and immediately notice a strong stench of what smells like someone vomiting after drinking a milkshake. The smell is absolutely horrendous. I tell the associate about the smell. He tells me that they don't have any more vehicles this size (I rented a large SUV) and that if I wanted a different vehicle they would need to see if another location had one but that it would take time. I did not have time. The car showed up an hour late already. I just take the vehicle hoping that I can air out the stench on my road trip. I wasn't able to air it out. The car smelled like vomit all weekend. After I returned the car, I of course complained. The sales associate there told me to call me customer service about the issue. She told that she was "giving me a break" on the gas though, since the tank was being returned 3/4 full. I told her that I received the car with the tank only 3/4 full and I confirmed this with the other associate when I picked up the stinky vehicle. I called customer service the same day. They said that it takes over 24 hours after I return the vehicle for my reservation to show up on their end. I haven't called back yet, but I will. Let's see what happens. I've used Hertz twice this year so far, and so far they are 0 for 2. The first time (early Feb) they gave me a car that had a small tire puncture and was losing air. I didn't realize it until I was driving. I went to a tire shop and paid to fix the puncture myself. I asked Hertz for reimbursement but they initially refused. I asked them to actually talk to the location (different location from this one) that I rented from instead of automatically rejecting my reimbursement request. Got a quote online, and the charge ended up being 150$ above. Was told he almost cancelled my rental, glad he didn't. But then I got on the road, and the car had 0 oil!!? It had an auto-off feature and shut off at a stop light, wouldn't turn on after driving 20m. And then I got an alert that the car had 0 oil. So I call this location, and there's no answer. There's actually no answering machine either. So you just can't contact anyone. Going to try calling tomorrow to complain, but I doubt he will answer. So I had to get an oil change, and I have no idea if I will get reimbursed. I would not reccomend this place or Hertz from this experience. read more

Oh my goodness. This is the worst hertz I ever been to. They open at 8am to 6pm. And at 8am they had no cars are ready or clean. They start washing then. They only has 1 representative and her name was Gwen who had 6 people waiting. I finally got a car and the person asked me do I have 10 minutes, so he can wash the car. I said ok. My daughter inspected the car before he started washing and said the bumper are sticking out on each ends. (mind you it's no cars here ) I was like oh! my. So the person who was washing the car said, this car was in accident let the representative know. As we drove off we notice check engine light was on. I called and she said call her later it may be some cars to trade out. I was frustrated I went to lax after I called customer service. I talk to local Manager and he said you should never had a car with 41,201 miles on it. I explained everything else and can I said can I get a discount. Debbie the manager needs to be fired for running a business so poorly! This place is ridiculous. I arrived at 12:05 and there were 6 people ahead of me all complaining about the customer service and how slow this process was going. Only one person (Alex) was working the register. She was running back and forth trying to take care of customers and answering the phone. I even heard Alex tell the person in front of me that she needed to go clean his rental car really quick and to give her 10 minutes. After realizing that was a bad idea she instructed the customer to go down the street and get it washed. I saw another man in the back who clearly was an employee and he wasn't doing anything. I'm not sure how Alex deals with the lack of help After waiting 65 minutes it was finally my turn. I'm not exaggerating. You would think a company like hertz would be able to hire a few more employees to work on Fridays to take care of their customers in a timely manner. I finally got out of there after an hour ands half. Debbie, the manager, walks in and sees a room full of customers. She simply goes to the back and does nothing to help. Another customer ask why they don't have employees and the employee said to ask Debbie! When she finally decides to come back out she looked at the monitor and asked if anyone needed a ride. I have rented at this small Hertz location since 2006 for weekly business or daily repair purposes. It's a great neighborhood location with personal service. They have at times picked me up and dropped me off for free after returning the car. I always make a reservation online via AAA or Hertz AAA to get the best price, and I am a member of their No. 1 Club. They treat me well here. Keep the following in mind if you rent here: This is NOT a large staffed airport location with an automated car wash and full time cleaners. It's a tiny strip shopping location with spaces for about 15 cars. Counter employees will go out to a returned car with a spray bottle, bucket and portable vacuum to clean. (Picture cars pulling up all day at your apartment and you have to clean them right there quickly. )Their standards are lower than mine for cleanliness. I have found that I usually have to touch up the cleaning, have found sticky stuff sometimes in the car consoles so I could not put my stuff there, hairs, smelly interiors, dirty mats, dirty seats, etc. Expect that here! The cars Hertz sends to local rental shops are usually higher mileage than at the airport. Also, because it's small, expect not to get the car you reserved--they will always give you the car class that you reserved or better--but again--they have such few cars, be happy with what you get. Sometimes you reserve a compact at a great price and end up with a big boat sedan for the same price. If you want more selection, go to the airport. You cannot drop off after hours at this location. Be on time. Ask them where you can drop off if you are late. Last, and this is the only comment not involving renting a car: Can someone in management get these employees some decent seats to sit on behind the counter. Last time I was in, one guy was sitting on a rickety old stool using the rental computer and there was an old dirty broken seat near the other terminal and the employee had to stand while using it. read more

My Husband and I just came back from an awesome Road Trip! And today, My Birthday I am spending it trying to get some type of compensation for our pure disappointment with this rental and the location. We don't usually rent from this location. We tried something new, but after today never again! This place and their customer service has much to be desired. My Husband and I witness one of the employees answer the phone while on their cell phone and asked the called to HOLD. Then walked back into the back office. Never asked us if we needed assistance.We were just standing there until my Husband started banging on the counter. When he returned he sat down at the desk and proceeded to help a customer. Just horrible. But my real reason for this review is because of the car they rented us. When we picked up the car we were in such a hurry we didn't really look at the car. Neither did the young lady who put us in it. She never asked us if it would be acceptable, just told us this was our car. After getting to our vacation spot we noticed a few thing that didn't seem right 1) The dome light was in the glove compartment. Since we hadn't traveled at night we didn't even notice that the dome light didn't work. Which I believe is a safety issue. 2) There were wholes in the upholstery on both doors. 3) Stains on the leather seats. 4) Some kind of sticker on the dash board & the window on the driver's side. 5) The navigation GPS on the dash is a pain for the passenger with any kind of height. This was the worse rental we have every picked up. I have pictures to prove every single claim. I was even willing to let it all go if the customer service was good. But NO. The customer service was even worse. I am so disappointed. I have never been one to tell someone to choose another location. This location is by far "the worst" Hertz location I've ever experienced for my past 20 years of car rental experiences. I am a Hertz Gold member for past 15 years with Amex Platinum Card always attached to my the rental agreement. This location rents out car without washing it and with 0 fuel. (Yes, meter shows 9 miles to empty tank when I got the car....really). And the bad news is when you return the car, they will make YOU clean their car's interior close to spotless (yes, you hear me correct) they make me, their Gold status customer, clean the car for them or they technically "threaten" to charge me $300 for a few debris under the doormat. (I spent 20 mins cleaning the car to the condition that are actually better than my own car...see pictures. And they seems still NOT satisfied......really????). This location is very under staffed and the representative are extremely rude, their facility is far worse than the Enterprise or Avis a few blocks down the road. Completely ruin the Hertz's golden trademarks. None of the customer service meets the lowest mark of Hertz's checkpoint list. (Actually far worse than any car rental companies out there I have ever experienced). I honest do not know why Hertz still keep this location open! I hardly miss my flight after cleaning the car for them to rent out to their next customer. I mean... which car rental company makes their loyal customers clean a few dust of doormats and toss a couple of empty coffee cups? Seriously... Please avoid this location. The staff that I've encountered at this location have been helpful, courteous, and friendly. However, my 3-star review is pointed at management. This location is SEVERELY understaffed. When I went to pick up my car on Monday morning, it took an hour for the overworked staff to get my car to me. There were two other customers in the office, and only one lone employee trying to check them in and answer the constantly-ringing phone. When I called today to extend my rental and change my drop off location, the poor man on the phone sounded totally overwhelmed. He told me that he was in the middle of a contract with a customer at the desk, and I could hear another phone ringing off the hook somewhere nearby him. Ultimately, I had to call the 800 number to be assisted. Stop running skeleton crews! It is seriously affecting your service, and your employees are only human! read more

The lady worker was not courteous at all and needs to be trained on customer service if she wants to work in retail. I've rented a couple of times from here before only because the dealership down the street pays for the rental while my car is getting serviced. Even though the dealership pays for the rental, i always like to pay for the insurance because i don't like to use mine. The last time I rented here I was charged for 4 days even though I only had the car for 1 day. I called and they said they made a mistake and charged me extra days. They said they had processed my refund and it could take up to 21 days for a refund. I waited over a month. Called to follow up and they continued to say they were working on it. Took my name and number and offered to call me back but they never did. I had to call every two to three days to follow up. Finally, they gave me the number for the corporate office and said to call the billing department. When I called the billing department they had no idea of the claim. Fortunately, the customer service person from corporate told me they would refund my money in 5-7 business days. This particular location wasn't helpful at all and just kept lying and prolonging things for me. I wish I would have called corporate sooner. read more

As long as nothing goes wrong I would give this facility a solid 5 star rating. We have rented from them numerous times and their process is efficient, never an issue with pick up or return. However, this last rental we had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, spent hours on the phone with their emergency roadside service; as my husband had already put the donut spare on - the only thing emergency roadside service could offer was to take it to a tire repair or drive no more than 50 miles an hour. It was Easter Sunday and so our only option was to drive no more than 50 miles per hour and hope the tire held up. We telephoned Hertz Monday morning and explained the situation; they informed us the tire would be our responsibility as we didn't take their LDW coverage. We said ok , if we incurred the flat, well then we should incur the cost. However, upon taking it too our mechanic, he filled the flat tire with air and the seam started bubbling up with a blue white liquid. He informed us that the tire had already been repaired with one of the cans you get at a gas station. We called Hertz and explained the situation and felt that since the tire had been "jerry-rigged repaired" we didn't feel it was our responsibility to incur the cost. We were met with a comeback of "that is why you get the LDW coverage". After trying to explain again that had the tire been in tip top shape to begin with we would incur the cost - however this situation was not our responsibility. All we got back was "that is why you get the LDW coverage." I believe the boy's name was "Oscar" and he spent the conversation trying to out talk me. Was this considered Customer Service? I got heated. When we arrived at Hertz "Oscar" behaved in the same way - cocky I guess would be the right word. There was no compassion, no customer service and frankly I will never use them again. I asked "Oscar" so if I rent a car, the battery dies, and I get a thoroughly used battery with little life life - the next customer who rents the car has to incur the cost of a new battery? Friendly enough... but it's literally the bare minimum in expertise. Ended up driving down the 405.... and then that 'toll road in the OC that, if it were here in SF, would be a mockery', yep, that would be the Toll Road 73. (Built in 1997 but probably won't pay for itself until 2050?) Heading south, signs seemed to reassure me that I could pay my toll within 5 days of taking the road if I had no Fastrak on board. Little did I know that rental vehicles are a caveat to this, in a way. Went to thetollroads.com website and the site said I should contact the rental agency. Called Fastrak a day after I traveled the 73, but they were not helpful. I called Hertz Torrance. 3 times. Was on hold for a total of 40 minutes. Never got a response, since the one person I spoke with didn't seem to understand my situation. And then was put on hold again. I hung up. My concern was that I would be issued fees in addition to the toll fare, if payment was not covered in a timely manner. It was all resolved... but with no help from Hertz. No one seemed to be able to answer my question and I ended up resolving it with The Toll Roads peeps. read more

Hertz Local Edition, Hawthorne Blvd - good discount, good car but be prepared to wait for them to take you back home. I tried Hertz since I was looking for a better deal on a car rental and my requirement was a company that would pick me up and bring me back home. For the pick up, I called 740 am for an 8am pickup. The guy who help me with the car rental called at 814am that he was outside. That was tolerable, I guess. For the drop off, I had to wait 1 hour 30 minutes for one of them to take me home. Also, even if you have someone with you as you rent or return the car, the counter is typically manned by only 1 or 2 people whether you are just about to rent or returning a car. Car I got was a bit dirty and needed fuel, only having 1/8 of tank isn't acceptable. They did pick me up, all in all it took 2 hours to get through the process; which is a long time. Not a lot of cars to choose from to rent. Wasn't pushed on the upsell on the insurance which is appreciated. read more
