I have mixed feelings about the staff who work in this location. A year ago, my Tesla needed repairs at the body shop up the street. I had borrowed a gray Model 3 and had an amazing experience. The person who had greeted me explained how to add the rental to my Tesla app. Told me it was in my best interest to note the condition of the EV by taking pictures or a video to document whatever blemishes, etc. I found prior to leaving the lot. And when I returned it, another staff member was just as kind. Even offered me a ride to the repair shop to pick up my Tesla. At that time, I returned the rental car with a state of charge (SOC) between 75-78% and there was no issue. The Hertz website specifically says "You are only required to recharge the battery level at the time of pickup - but you never have to bring it back over 75%." Fast forward to a few days ago, when I chose this location to rent from, only this time I did not have pleasant interactions with the agents. Different people staffed from a year ago. Upon entering the office, one of two agents asked for my ID, gave me the valet card and then told me where the car was. In and out in less than 2-3 minutes. Did not ask me if I had experience driving an EV. No pleasantries like "good morning" or "how are you" or "have a nice day." If positive interactions mean anything to you, then that is not what I experienced. Definitely not what I was expecting given how nice the people were last time. I reserved their red Model 3 for two (2) days. Added the EV to my Tesla app (see picture). Upon returning the car, the other agent tried to charge me $20 for not returning it with the same SOC as when picked it up. When I borrowed it, the SOC was 87%. The agent claimed it was 92% and the receipt I received afterwards said it was 100%. Such discrepancy with what the SOC was when I borrowed the car. Good thing I took a picture to document what it was. Note: there is no way you can return an EV where the SOC will be at 100%, unless you charge it a few blocks away before returning it. I brought it back with 77%. At first, the agent said that 75% amount only applies to vehicles borrowed from airports. Nowhere does it say that on the Hertz website. I proceeded to say that I have borrowed a Tesla from the same location before and I did not have to pay a "recharge fee". Then she changed her tune and said because I have "Gold Plus Membership" I will not be charged for returning the car below the SOC it left with days prior. Esp the African American girl will accuse you of smoking (WHEN YOU DON'T SMOKE) to charge you $400 cleaning fee. See, what they do is they heavily cover their car's interior with strong cleaning solution to mask the underlying body odors and sweat and smoke. They threw out our garage key! It is our responsibility to check and take everything from the rental car but it is also Hertz's responsibility to check before cleaning out the car. I booked a reservation for this new location and a family emergency led me to modify my reservation as instructed on their website about 5 days before the trip. When I arrived, the manager Humberto was rude, not at all helpful ( no troubleshooting), and implied that I'm a liar because "his system doesn't make mistakes." Yes, he literally said that. I canceled my reservation and I will not be using Hertz. I called customer service, although much more polite, not helpful at all. Car was expensive for what it was (Chevy Malibu), old and clunky to drive, very dirty with spilled coffee, and smelled like cigarettes. And then they tried to charge me a cleaning fee when I returned the car in better shape than I received it. I would suggest Enterprise in Hermosa over this Hertz location. read more

I had rented a car back in January of this year and recently just received an outstanding bill for unauthorized extra charges to my rental agreement. When I 1st rented my vehicle they had no vehicles within my insurance's price range, so I was offered an upgrade. I advised I didn't want to pay the extra charge so I would come back the next day to get one within my price ranges. The agent then advised it would be complementary, I advised I can come back the next day to switch it out but he insisted that it would be complimentary the entire duration of my rental period. I thanked him and again made sure I would not be getting charged. I received an email of the agreement showing the charge so I called back and the man reassured me that I would not be getting charged. I went to return the vehicle after my rental agreement was up and another agent advised me at checkout that she sees a charge for an upgrade and would have to charge me. When I advised that was supposed to be waived she said if that is something that was told to me I would have to speak with the agent that helped me. I got a call from said agent the next day sounding a little annoyed and he said we had already spoke about this waived upgrade with me. I agreed and advised that's where I am confused because if it is waived then why is it on my bill. He advised he would remove it and we were okay to close out my rental. Now 7 months later and I found out my bill has been taken to collections and Hertz is not able to help me. read more

My wife and I reserved a vehicle through Expedia. When we went to pick it up, we were told they didn't have any cars unless we paid for an upgrade. We explained that it is Hertz policy, listed online, that they provide a vehicle at the booked price. The female manager stated she would not honor that, so we left. The complaint phone number listed online doesn't actually provide a number to make a complaint to Hertz and Expedia just states to go through Hertz. Definitely won't go back. read more

HERTZ CORPORATE PLEASE READ Just left this location. My sister's Hertz rental leaked oil all over my driveway when she visited. Extremely stressful. Hertz towed the car and we went in to pickup replacement and were told there "No cars. Go to the airport." It was 11:20AM and they close at Noon. I counted 13 Hertz cars in the lot with a QR code on the window. My sister and myself travel quite a bit and are gold members so I went back in to say there are 13 cars in the lot. The "manager" who said her name was Alice (I am still not sure if this is her name), said car renters are local and they picked up the keys in advance and left the rentals behind to retrieve later. For all 13 vehicles???? The gentleman there with her was worse and just kept saying "No cars available." As a test, I went online and was able to rent a car from this location easily so I said to them, "I was able to book a car through the app. If you don't have cars, how is this possible?" Alice replied, "This happens all the time and we must call the customer back to let them know we have no cars." TRANSLATION - There are 13 cars in the lot and neither of us are willing to go next door and run through gas station car wash and fill up the car with gas so you can rent it. Eventually someone pulled up in a dirty economy vehicle and returned a car. Out of desperation, we asked if we could rent the car to which she said. "I don't care at this point, I just need to get this done. You are very disrespectful." I said to her, "Do you care to see pictures of the damage the oil made to my driveway? You would be upset as well. We are the ones being inconvenienced here." To which she replied, Let's get this done so you can be on your way." UNBELIEVABLE. Now the time was 12:03 and her coworker who was equally unhelpful is there looking at the clock. It would have taken him less time to just fill up a car with gas and run it through car wash than it did to argue. They were both extremely determined to not work. Clearly evident. I sarcastically said to him, "It's 12:03, you should probably be getting out of here since you were off three minutes ago." I didn't think he would leave his "manager" there to handle us and another customer in the waiting area, but he collected his things, walked out and got into his car and drove off. I was completely beside myself at both of their unwillingness to do their jobs. After "Alice" rented us the dirty beat up economy vehicle, I said to her, "If you would had just done your job in the first place, you would have been done in half this time, but instead you put in all of this time to avoid working, you ultimately worked twice as hard in the end." To this she replied, "Goodbye Ma'am." Repeatedly as she was shutting the door on me. Renting a car has NEVER been so difficult, but when you have two people unwilling to do their jobs, it made this otherwise easy process terrible. GO TO ENTERPRISE Much easier. I normally don't waste my time writing petty reviews, but it was such an outrageous experience, I hope HERTZ CORPORATE reads this and gets some awareness about how much employees can hurt their business. Not sure why so much hate for this particular location in the reviews. I will be happy to give them a amazing review because these folks have been phenomenal every time I have dealt with them. My cars have always been ready on time, and I've always been able to get a ride home after my rental. I have always had a clean car given to me. The front desk staff are super nice. They cannot solve every issue as many are handled only online or by phone to corporate. So it goes! Making a rez online is easy and the cars are what you pay for - pay more, get a snazzier car. Horrible! There is no other way to describe this Hertz location other than horrible. I am a Hertz Gold Plus member and I have been for many years. I rent cars from Hertz airport locations all the time. Occasionally, I rent them from local locations when needed. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever encountered from any Hertz rental location I have rented from. To tell the story, my car was going to be in the shop for a couple of days so I went online and scheduled a car rental. I arrived at this location telling them about my reservation but they told me they had no cars available. They knew about my reservation but they said I would have to wait for somebody to return a car. Unacceptable! When you have a reservation and it is a confirmed reservation you should be provided with the car that is promised. The problems did not end there. Several hours after I rented the car I begin receiving phone calls from Hertz telling me that the previous renter had left a CD in the car and they wanted me to return the CD to the rental location. The problem was, there was no CD in the car. I do not know what happened to the CD so I could not return it. I received approximately five telephone calls over the next day or so asking me to return the CD. A CD that I did not have and a CD that was not in the car. Again, unacceptable! The other problem was, the car they rented me was sorely in need of maintenance. Every time I hit a bump the front wheels would vibrate violently and make a loud noise. I told them about this on one of the times they called me about the CD but they said not to worry about it as all of their cars were in great shape and needed no additional maintenance. Obviously, this was a lie. When I returned the car I presented all of this nonsense to the person working the desk. The person was completely unsympathetic to what they had put me through; no apologies, no nothing. This is completely unacceptable. This is not the way a Hertz or any other car rental business should treat their customers. Be warned! read more

Where do I begin? Upon entering the environment was friendly, clean and cozy. Agatha greeted me and asked how she can help me. Firstly, her positive energy and professionalism was superb. Her outfit was really cute btw! Anyways, I was able to get exactly what I wanted based on what was available. She did a great job to accommodate with specific features I wanted in a car. She knows her stuff! She was very polite and soft spoken. After processing my rental, she inspected the vehicle with me and walked me through the paperwork as far as insurance and policies. I had to wait 15 minutes to drop of my car. Then they wanted to charge me 50% more on my rental for being 6 minutes near a 30 minute grace period. I am a presidents club gold member. Enterprise is better in this respect, because they give Gold Club members a 1 hour grace period to return cars. Hertz asked for my opinion and I gave it to them. They didn't offer me any compensation. Can't tell if they are even listening. Hertz just sent me an offer to save 25% to prepay a reservation. I followed the link and there was no prepay option, so no discount. I tried to call to see if they are open day after Thanksgiving at this location. But they recently made it harder to call the local branch. They also don't update their business hours on Google. Their website consistently gives me trouble and I routinely have to try 3 different browsers just to make one reservation. read more

Terrible service. Literally got kicked off of a first come/first serve shuttle bus that goes to the airport after the rental drop off. We were the first ones on the bus but I guess that didn't apply to us. Contributed to us missing a flight. The bus driver was a complete prick. I emailed hertz to fill a complaint and didn't even get a response. My advice would be to use a company that will appreciate your business. read more

Dismissive staff, unorganized and did not e-mail receipts even though I have been a Hertz gold member for many years, and the hours posted anywhere online are wrong. The office closes at 5p which you may find on an 8.5"x11" piece of paper scotch taped to the front door. Booked smaller car online and when I arrived two hours later they had none of that class available but they were willing to upcharge me for a larger vehicle. This review is for this location only, not Hertz as a company. I've been using Hertz for business for over 2 years now, and as a Gold Member, I have always been 100% satisfied. For this location, I decided to rent a car over 4th of July weekend for leisure. I called the 1-800 number and made reservations over the phone a week prior. I also found out they offer a pick up service from your home/apt so I called a few days before and they said to call the day of, 15 minutes before the reservation. The day of (July 3rd), with my apt. at 3pm, I called at 2:40pm. The girl who picked me up arrived at 3:20pm. She was late, but she was cool and social. Upon arriving to the office, the place was packed. I think there were at least 9 people there tightly packed in a small area. There are only 2 desks and 2 staff helping people out, but they seemed so inefficient and slow. Most of the people were there to drop off a car, with a couple picking up, including me. Despite the number of people waiting, the staff were moving extra slow, like they had no sense of urgency. They were also chatting it up with the people they were helping, which made their sense of urgency, if there was any, even slower. I understand they were maybe trying to be friendly and helpful, but having worked in customer service before, when it's slow it's good to chat with the customer and make them feel comfortable. But when there's a long wait, you need to focus on getting the people in and out as quickly as possible. When the time got close to 4pm (yes, I was standing around waiting for 40 minutes), I just walked up to staff and told them I had a reservation at 3pm. The lady said she would help me right away, but then proceeded to walk outside like she was looking for someone or a specific car. She didn't come back, and then out from the back of the office came the girl who had originally picked me up. I asked her to help me and she jumped on a computer and got me out in less than 3 minutes. A big thank you to her. As I was leaving, I noticed there were 2 other guys who came out from the back willing to assist. They should've came out 45 minutes earlier when there was a big wait building up. SMH. I had no problems in the past with just a call ahead to check if cars were available and the prices at theB Redondo Beach location before I walked in and got a fair rate on a modest rental. my next rental was around Christmas, so thought it wise to rent ahead of time via computer to make sure a car was available , plus there was a slight discount for paying ahead. Unfortunately for me, I had forgotten to bring my customer number from the transaction. without my transaction number, the only car they had left would cost me over double my reserved cost, almost ninety bucks, and just happened to be the exact same car I had reserved and paid for online for about $45, a small and unpleasant to drive little car from Kia. most places manage a better car for that kind of fee, but if it was the only one left on the lot, and it commands a premium in that situation, I can accept that, but no one enjoys paying double by surprise. What is still mildly troubling , and the reason for this review , was the inability, or lack of desire , perhaps at managements request, to locate my transaction number with perhaps a phone, license number, or working backward from the car on reservation. And then, adding to the vexation of dropping my reservation, jacking my fee to the moon, way too much for that car, just because they can. That is my primary objection. I probably should have walked on the deal, and instead asked for the managers special, and gotten the same crap car for around $33. At three hours before closing, I doubt they hold any inventory back, just in case a last minute customer arrives. I know not every day at work is perfect, but I feel like I got screwed overrun the rate. it is the closest to my house, so might go there again, but will make sure they stick to any previously agreed upon prices, and no Kias. It also would have been nice to be shown how to work the fob to unlock other than the drivers door, and I didn't know enough to ask. read more

After I posted about this - and made a complaint via twitter, etc. I received calls from Hertz managers in the area to address my concerns. They were extremely apologetic and said that additional training would take place to ensure this does not happen again. They also sent me a certificate for $150 good for 1-year for a Hertz rental. I think i will stick to renting at the Torrance local edition in the future, as my experience was better there, but I do appreciate that the team and management was responsive to my concerns. read more

Was a little worried to rent from here due to other ratings, but had no issues at all. Renting off-airport saves significant $s due to not paying concession fees, etc. Service was fast and efficient, and they gave us a nice enough car- rented a full size, got a Toyota Camry which wasn't memorable but did the job. Return was a breeze as well, there's a gas station next door. Biggest bummer is lack of Sunday hours, and limited Saturday hours. read more

Today they turned me into full on Karen I have rented from this location several times over the last eight years and for the most part I've been satisfied with the service and the product. I made a reservation for a cargo van I went to the location prior to pick up to explain that I needed a very reliable cargo van because I was transporting my 91-year-old mother and automated bed and chair to my brothers in Wyoming. When I arrived in the afternoon to pick up the rental they told me that they didn't have the van I wanted because I didn't show up one hour after reservation time they gave the cargo van to somebody else. They didn't call me to let me know that they would be releasing the van to another customer. They have another cargo van and Nissan but needed to be cleaned and if I could come back in an hour they would have it ready. When I came back the gal wrote up the contract and told me that they most likely would have another van a post master in the morning. when I called in the morning the woman told me they didn't have any other vans I explained, that I wasn't comfortable driving this van over 800 miles it was in bad condition the tires were semi-bald the Driver seat was sunken as if it had been driven by a 400 pound driver making it so I could barely see you over this steering wheel. I was able to rent a new cargo van from enterprise in great condition when I returned the van to the Hertz rent a car I put less than 1 mile and I had per paid for the gas I had no problem paying a one-day rental fee plus giving them the $20 in free gas I was told that because I had paid on the Hertz website said they would not be refunding the additional days that I did not use the van and when I called their customer service I was told that it wasn't an acceptable reason for not taking the van And the icing on the cake was my car was towed from the parking lot. What Turned me into a Karen was the girls cavalier attitude about my inconveniences and that I shouldn't have expected better service or better product. There have been ups and downs, however, all in all, for the reasonable rental car prices it had been worth the savings. I reserved a 2017 Nissan Quest through Rent2Buy website. The date for pick up was 7/13/2018 and the car is still not ready as of today 7/30. During that time, I've placed at least 10 phone calls to inquire the status of the car. During that time, there was only same answers : the car being serviced at dealer awaiting for part.
