I had borrowed a gray Model 3 and had an amazing experience. The person who had greeted me explained how to add the rental to my Tesla app. Told me it was in my best interest to note the condition of the EV by taking pictures or a video to document whatever blemishes, etc. I found prior to leaving the lot. And when I returned it, another staff member was just as kind. Even offered me a ride to the repair shop to pick up my Tesla. At that time, I returned the rental car with a state of charge (SOC) between 75-78% and there was no issue. The Hertz website specifically says "You are only required to recharge the battery level at the time of pickup - but you never have to bring it back over 75%." Fast forward to a few days ago, when I chose this location to rent from, only this time I did not have pleasant interactions with the agents. Different people staffed from a year ago. Upon entering the office, one of two agents asked for my ID, gave me the valet card and then told me where the car was. In and out in less than 2-3 minutes. Did not ask me if I had experience driving an EV. No pleasantries like "good morning" or "how are you" or "have a nice day." If positive interactions mean anything to you, then that is not what I experienced. Definitely not what I was expecting given how nice the people were last time. I reserved their red Model 3 for two (2) days. Added the EV to my Tesla app (see picture). Upon returning the car, the other agent tried to charge me $20 for not returning it with the same SOC as when picked it up. When I borrowed it, the SOC was 87%. The agent claimed it was 92% and the receipt I received afterwards said it was 100%. Such discrepancy with what the SOC was when I borrowed the car. Good thing I took a picture to document what it was. Note: there is no way you can return an EV where the SOC will be at 100%, unless you charge it a few blocks away before returning it. I brought it back with 77%. At first, the agent said that 75% amount only applies to vehicles borrowed from airports. Nowhere does it say that on the Hertz website. I proceeded to say that I have borrowed a Tesla from the same location before and I did not have to pay a "recharge fee". Then she changed her tune and said because I have "Gold Plus Membership" I will not be charged for returning the car below the SOC it left with days prior. Whoever worked here a year ago, please bring them back. The two experiences I have had here are like night and day.

I would advise purchasing the extended warranty, but they will lower the price with some pushback. As soon as I got home with my car, one of the headlamps was not working. Turns out to be a technician fault, as the connector plug was removed during the engine cleaning process before putting the car on the lot. Always ask questions for a full demonstration of all mechanical and electronic systems. These are fleet (rental) vehicles, so their history is unknown, but they do a good of servicing while in their possession. Once you purchase a vehicle, you'll be directed to a 3rd party provider for service. They won't tell you this until you have an issues and request support. I'm not disappointed with the vehicle, but honest up-front should be a priority.

I recorded all their info and brought it up with two people - one guy, big black dude who clearly goes to the gym regularly. He brought his manager over, small little white dude. Little white dude starts scraping at the "damage" with his fingernail and the scuff comes right off. He tells me there's no issue so I leave. Well today I get an email from Enterprise threatening to sue me if I don't give them my insurance information because the car was reported as "damaged or a total loss". Well guess what, shitheads? I have pictures of this "damage or total loss"! Nothing more than a scuff that again came off when the little white dude scraped his nail across it. You guys want to do this? Fine. Then we'll play the hard way since I told you jerkoffs I had the other person's information and recorded the situation. And to top it off, they threw away my dog's stepstool. She has bad hip dysplasia so I made a custom stool for her to get into the car with. I accidentally left it in the trunk, and when I went back to retrieve it, it was gone. This is a joint Budget/Avis Rental Car Agency and I had expected them to be busy. Very thankfully, on a Saturday morning around 11am, I was in and out quite efficiently and the staff was kind and helpful. Usually renting a car takes forever and the person helping you is as dumb as a box of rocks. I wanted an all-electric and I had a choice between a Tesla Model 3 for about $60 plus tax or a Kia Niro for $40. Since I had a cap that Stellantis would pay for, I chose the Kia Niro and I am quite pleased with it. The car was clean, in good condition aside from a few noted dings and such and super fun to drive (man, it has some real get up and go!). Overall, I had a good experience here and would recommend it if you need a rental car between Torrance Blvd. and Del Amo on Hawthorne Blvd.

I told Ashley that I've done this at several Avis rental locations and this is the only one that won't allow it which is strange. I decided to call customer service and they told me that it's allowed and not sure why they won't allow it. Ashley mention that it's their policy and every location is different. I also, tried to show her one of my previous reservation where I used a secondary form of payment but she refused to even look at it. Not sure how someone can be a manager and they don't know their own policy.

The representative Josh, told us he didn't have a car for us and was waiting on 3 people to drop off and another representative was driving a car over for us. She finally showed up at 8:30am in a Toyota IA (very compact car) and he said it should be cheaper because it wasn't a full size sedan. Then he charged our card $122 and said "oh no" that's wrong and fixed it. He finally said it will be $86 and the $122 should be refunded in 2-6 business days. We left. We returned at 5pm two days later when they close at 6pm. The representative Josh, was missing. We waited awhile. Another lady came in and could tell we were frustrated, so she made a phone call once she heard how long we were waiting. The guy on the phone said, "he was on his way back," which was very vague. At this point it was 5:50 and still no show. Finally at 5:57 pm he showed up and I let him know I had been waiting an hour and he didn't even give me a simple sorry. I asked for his managers number and he seemed so careless that I was frustrated. I definitely don't recommend this Avis/budget at all!!! Oh and too add to all this. There was a can of soda with ants pouring out of it. It was disgusting.
