Long story short - their head mechanic didn't know how to check oil properly on her Nissan crossover? (name escapes me) Three times in the shop and they tell her the oil is over full. I go in, act dumb and ask if they could show me how to check the oil since I got blamed for it anyway "your dad is over filling it" Stooge pulls dip stick and proclaims "see overfill again by twice" Me - "flip that dip stick over" Dude had no words because the other side had NOTHING on it because they drained 5 quarts the day before because "it was overfilled" I promptly asked the gentleman "if you toss a stick in a bucket of oil, is it possible to only get oil on one side of said stick?" Note: these cars/engines have an oil drain back hole directly above the dip stick which covers it with oil several inches up the stick, on one side. Even a moron knows to wipe the stick and reinstall to check and look at both sides. A not-so-certified village idiot should know these cars are best checked after they have sat awhile, regardless this poor village idiot was happy to run out 5 minutes after we arrived and check it without ever having a towel in mind. Way to go imbecile. Needless to say, it never left the place and the motor was hammering because they told her to run it and I want putting oil in it again for them to blame me for overfilling. A few days later we stopped in and find in an attempt to get the warranty co to pay for a motor, they blew it up. The one lucky actually told us what they were doing. Obviously totally oblivious to the fact he was saying they were trying to commit insurance fraud. Good luck if you go here or if, like my kid, AutoMax sends you here because their shop is backed up. These geniuses will fix your vehicle right up like Dewey, Cheatum & Howe, attorneys at law would fix you up on legal issues. Well, that statement isn't fair. One was from a major car dealer who basically told me that the used cars are "as is" and whatever I find wrong with the car is my responsibility. This was after I purchased the car and on the way home the check engine light came on. I was furious and knew for sure that I had been scammed. But couldn't do anything about it and they didn't even want to check to see what was wrong with the car. Long story short, the car had major oil leaking problems and water coming inside the car every time it rained. I was never going to buy another used car. But I saw a Facebook post for a particular model of Mini that I have always wanted. I went to just take a look and so I drove all the way from MD to PA. Upon getting there I met with Todd who is one of the owners of the Sports Car Center and he explained how he had done a long list of repairs and maintenances on the car. "Yea right, sure..." I was thinking. The car was beautiful. But of course it was hard to believe and trust another person who was trying to sell me a used car. But Todd seemed really honest and genuine. I also met his father who started the business and kept it going all these years. Obviously they would not have been able to do that if they would have practiced dishonest business practices over the years. After a test drive and reading a few other reviews online, I decided to get the car. For at least a week I was on the edge, every time I would find something not quite right or hear a funny engine sound I would call Todd. And EVERY SINGLE TIME, he returned my call promptly and explain things and worked with me to make things right or to give me assurances that there is nothing wrong with the car. It has been an incredible experience considering the Mini was 13yrs old. Everything could have gone wrong and a terrible disaster. But now, I feel very comfortable and know that I purchased the car as described and promised by the seller for the first time in a long time. I would buy another car if I need to at Sports Car Center from Todd. And I would highly recommend anybody to buy a car from Todd at Sports Car Center or get repairs done knowing you really can trust this Shop. I know that people can double pricing, but i really wasnt expecting those high prices. the labor and balance of services sounded fair. but the pricing mark up really rubbed me the wrong way. the big kicker was i took the car in because it wasnt starting all the time. i had some work done on it including a fuel pressure something or nother, vaccum hose and a sensor. they test drove the car, everything, ran well. happy camper. two weeks later my car didnt want to start. i asked the mechanic if they can look at it again (for no charge) to see if it was related to the work they did (and obviously i knew this could be a new problem, because i have an older car). the mechanic brought up my paper work and said that they had done x, y and z on the car, didnt mention the fuel pressure. and said that what was happening to my car was that it wasnt getting fuel or didnt have a spark. but they did not offer to take it in and look at it, saying that it would've been a different problem. when i mentioned the fuel pressure thing, they said 'oh, well we did those things not because they were causing the car to stall (originally) but because they were the only things that stood out as need of major repair.' I was disappointed because i wasnt asking them to fix the possibly new issue, but i felt like they were being shady. and then i asked (to gage the situation) what it would cost to get my car's oil changed. they said (paper work in front of them) that depending on my car's filter it could be $50. i got my oil changed a more local mechanic's for $30. i guess i couldnt help but feel that... they werent being upfront and honest with me. when i told my friend that recommended them, she said that they should've at least looked at the car again. that would be the professional thing to do. having this single experience with them, i would not go back again nor would i recommend the place. I would like to have more experiences to judge them on, but i dont want to risk spending more money or having more related issues with my car. :oP
