Washer isn't working paid over 300 even bought own parts .... prefer refund of my money or for it to work .....

This past weekend my Whirlpool dryer stopped working. I called Gene at Hesters TV and Appliance on Sunday. He showed up with replacement parts and fixed my dryer for $120. I highly recommend Hesters for appliance repairs. I'm glad I didn't need to buy a new dryer. read more

I'm not sure if ownership has changed but this business was always reliable in the past for my parents. However, we recently contacted them to come and repair our washer and scheduled them to come out but they never showed up. We called and they apologized and scheduled us for the following day between 12 to 2pm, 1pm came along then 2pm came long but no call or no show. We had to reach out and get their estimated time of arrival they apologized once again and said that they were running late ( a courtesy call would been nice). They finally made it out around 3:30pm provided us a quote to repair it but advised us that it would be in our best interest to replace it due to the high price of the repair it and that they had a used one if we were interested in buying one for $250. We turned down their offer and then they tried to overcharge us for their fee to come out. Initially they quoted us $69.00 dollars to come out but tried to collect $99.00 instead. We paid them what they originally quoted us and told them to take a hike. They are very unprofessional and we definitely will not use them again. If I could give them less than one star I would. Do yourself a favor and please we urge you to refrain from using this company. read more

My first communication with Hester's TV and Appliance was by telephone. Gene, Jr answered the telephone within a few rings. He was very polite and professional. He was able to schedule me an appointment for the afternoon. Prior to coming, I received a call that he was enroute. He showed up timely. He diagnosed what the problem was within 5 minutes and repaired it with 20 minutes. I am very pleased with this business and would recommend to to all. read more

The man from Hester's went above and beyond to fix my gas fireplace. He searched for a part that wasn't overpriced, took the "innards" of the fireplace to his shop and returned the next day to finish the job. They only charged their original estimate despite the extra work. It's hard to find a business with old fashioned values like Hester's. Highly recommend. read more

After using my washer just six times, as of December, 2020, hot water will no longer arrive in the washer. From what I can tell the fill valve has crapped out. Even though my 90 day warrantee expired on 8-23-20, I call Gene and tell him that my washer will deliver cold, but not hot water. He agrees to "waive" the service fee and will come over "in the next two hours", which would have been between 12-2PM. At 8 PM he calls, "i can come over now." OK. How about a call telling me you'll be six hours late?? His inept assistant is with him. I have the machine detached from all hoses and in doing so notice that the case of the washing machine is Admiral, but the control panel is Whirlpool. He sold me a frankenstein washing machine. He brings a used replacement fill valve. They install it, but I ask them to do no more. COVID. I ask him to give me another 90 day warranty on this used valve. "NO, I won't do that". Now I know why.... The next day I hook up all the hoses and guess what? Yet again, only cold water. I call him and say, "Come pick up the washing machine. I want my $250 back. You can fix the machine and resell it." He states, "Read the receipt. I want nothing more to do with you. " and he hangs up on me. I have now wasted $250 on a machine that doesn't work as promised. Do not EVER, EVER, EVER buy anything from this fly-by-night business!!!!!!! Gene has zero interest in customer service and should be put out of business immediately. There is a saying, BCBT. "Buy cheap, buy twice" What a scam business. Gene you need to close your business and stop ripping off people. Ethical business practices is completely lost on this guy. What a scammer. read more

Awful experience with this company. Needed a new heater, brought it in and installed it leaving marks all over the walls, an employee complaining about the job saying he wanted to smoke weed after work, grown men arguing in front of the customer, overall VERY unprofessional. Turns out, the heater is not functioning properly. It makes terrible noises heating up/cooling down. We all know heaters make noises, they even admitted the noise was not ok especially at 2AM when my baby is sleeping. Long story short, they came back 5x "checking it out," even a no show 2x. The owner had nothing to say; no help whatsoever. After several weeks there has been no resolution. If you want non functioning appliances go ahead.. waste your time and money. read more

I've been trading with Gene and his father for 20 years. They always gave me honest value for money. Recently bought a used Maytag washer which they delivered, but installed it myself. Then I couldn't get any cold water during the fill cycle. Gene Jr and his assistant came over and discovered that i had left the water tap closed! After many apologies and a box of donuts to their shop next morning, I found that the machine really did not admit cold water! I called, left a message, and they replaced the fill valve a few days later. Nobody is perfect, least of all me, but these guys are pretty great! read more

Waste of time. Called Hester's several days ago to have them look at my washer. It took several phone calls (no answer/no answering machine) but finally was able to make an appt. It was a little sketchy though as the guy didn't seem to understand what I was telling him. I was so nervous about the guy showing up that I called earlier that day, Thursday, May 17, 2018, to check on my appt and whether we were still on. No answer. I stopped by the store itself to ask about my appt. Nobody there and only cell phone numbers on a note on the front door. I called the cell phone numbers - no answer and the voice mail box is full. My appt time is 2:00+ so I wait until 2:15 and call again - no answer. 3:00 - no answer. 4:15 the guy says the technician is out but does not have his cell phone so there is no way to find out if he's going to stop by or not. They do not "close" until 6:00 PM so I decide to wait a little longer. No show. No call. No nothing. I took half a day off of work for this appt for what ended up being just a waste of time. CONS: 1)They do not answer their phones and store is unmanned so no way to communicate, 2) When they do answer they are kind of rude and of no help at all, 3) They do not let you know if they are going to be late or just not show up at all, 4) Horrible customer service, 5) Very disorganized, 6) No idea where their technicians are or when or how to make an appt, 7) No answering machine so if you don't reach anyone, you're out of luck. . PROS: Nothing at this point. Bottom line: Save your time and money and go with someone else. NOTE: Look for false reviews on the other repair places. Most reviews are out of state. read more

Was referred by a family friend. My washer leaked water from underneath I called Hester's. They came over, said it was the water pump. When they left it worked for a few months then the same thing happened but it was worse. I called to see if they can take a look at it without payment and they said we were out of warranty/ days. So they would charge again. I asked over the phone for some advice but the man on the phone seemed impatient and didn't want to take the time to at least HELP OUT. Business thrive off customer service and CARING. This man didn't care. I would not recommend. After paying 300+ for a water pump and check it should not of happened again. read more

I wish I could give them no stars. They have moved to a warehouse style building they repair appliances in the parking LOT and leave parts scattered all over the parking lot. These are probably the same parts they use to repair the busted machines. Every single appliance in the showroom looks like garbage they picked up on the side of the road. Great place to get parts needed for appliances. They have save me a lot of money. Once for my washer which they explained to me how to do repair and the part needed was only $5 and today my dryer stop working and they had the part I needed and was able to fix myself in about half hour and the part was only $20. read more

Be careful. I was referred to call Hester's. They said they are quick, good and reasonable. They made me an appointment for the same day. I rushed home and all was good. They started on my dryer right away. They never told me what was wrong or how much the cost. They left came back... and gave me a bill. I was sadly surprised. It was so very high! I looked up a part that they said they replaced at it was so much lower than they charged. I was also charged service charge and labor. I don't feel so bad about that... but the parts! It was an average price on line for $6 to $12 dollars. They charged me $80. I don't know if because I am a woman or that I live on F street that I thought I was not so smart or made of money. Maybe I am not so smart because for the repair it was way over $200 for a heating coil. I was going to call them for fridge repair... NOT NOW... read more

They were really nice on the phone and had the exact cook top we needed. The guys came on the time frame agreed upon and were very pilot. My one complaint is that the stove was VERY dirty. Yes it is used and I paid about half of what a new one but I feel in that we did pay $350 to have a used cooktop installed (a new one same brand from Lowe's would have been $600) they could have at least detailed it. After many attempts and "lines are busy" I called to have a dryer picked up and the cranky guy on the phone said he'd send someone the next day. We dragged the dryer out and no one ever showed, and good luck trying to get a hold of ANYONE to begin with. Not good customer service. read more

I had the worst customer service ever... I called on a Wednesday made appt for Thursday @4:30 and NO ShOW. I called they said they forgot so we made another appt for Saturday first appt and No Show I called at 9:30 and they said they would be there 2nd call .....nothing at 12:00pm called and again didn't even realize I had appt and then told me they would not be here and make appt for Tuesday. Its hard to find a good appliance store these days. Good family owned business, been around for 40 plus years. Old school knowledge still means something to me. They fixed my microwaves turntable, fixed it right for a fair price and now all is right with the world. Thanks guys. Be very careful if you purchase from these guys. If you are buying a major appliance (we bought a washing machine), you may end up losing money and having to buy another one anyway. I suggest you thoroughly examine what you are purchasing and, if it's a washing machine, run it through a cycle once BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They sent us a picture of the machine before bringing it over and I noticed what looked like mildew. When we asked them what the dark spot was, they said it was dirt and that they would clean it. They brought it over, they were very friendly, very professional, they hooked it up, and hauled our broken machine, but I should have checked the one they delivered more thoroughly before I paid them; I really regret not doing so. Now we have a washing machine full of mildew stains, it smells awful, and after running it through one empty cycle we found specks of mildew that came up from inside the machine. We're now, of course, having trouble getting a hold of them to get our money back despite the fact that they very adamantly told us to call them with any problems and that it comes with a 90-day warranty. read more

Washer wouldn't operate. Made terrible noise when turning it on. Water wouldn't drain. Called Gene at 10 am. Technician was here at 2 pm, and quickly assessed that the transmission was broken. Washer was ten years old, so it needed to be replaced. We went to their shop, purchased a new washer. It was installed and operating before 5 pm. Great service by local technicians who've been in the business for over 40 years. I would definitely call them again. Sure is better than calling the 800 number and talking with someone who doesn't know anything about washing machines. Everyone in Oxnard, Port Hueneme or Ventura should be using this company. Their storefront is not the most attractive, but I figure that what they're saving in rent ends up saving money for customers. There was no charge at all for the service call, just the $25 to remove the old washer and install the new one. Great service! read more

Ever find yourself in a bind and need to haul away large appliances, these are the guys to call! I inquired about their services last week but never set up an appointment and needed a washer and dryer hauled away asap as we have new tenants moving in tomorrow! I called them yesterday they said they would pick them them up today and would give me a courtesy call when they were on their way. They did just that! They were prompt, professional and careful not to damage any property on the way out! I will definitely call them again! read more

I have a refrigerator that started heated up and not getting cold. They came and checked it out, told me they had to order the part only took a couple of days and charged me exactly what he quoted. Very professional and courteous, something you don't see much of these days. I also bought a used dryer from his shop about 7 years ago for just a little over a hundred dollars and it still running great! When they didn't come, I called and after 28 rings someone answered as if they just woke up and didn't know anything about my appointment. They said they'd have "them" call me back. They finally called the NEXT EVENING, after I bought another refrigerator!!!! When I complained about their total lack of customer service, they said it wasn't their fault that my refrigerator broke!! I never said it was their fault. At that point they also advised that they contract out someone to come to your home!!! A small matter that they didn't bother to mention when they scheduled me!!! They said they'd have the owner call me back and after a day and a half, she hasn't yet called me back. I invite her to respond to this review. I bought a very used refrigerator from Hester's. They not only delivered on time, but delivered it early. I had mentioned that the door hinges needed to be switched from right to left. Hester came a couple of hours later and switched the hinges. I have no clue how long the refrigerator will last. It's making a high pitched sound. I'm hoping for at least a year. But the service was pretty amazing and unusual. read more

No one ever answers phone, rings and rings. Called for service and after two days, someone finally answered, took my name and number and said someone would call to set up appointment. After two days, no one called and couldn't reach anyone again. Used to be a great place, but there are plenty businesses out there that really want the work, wouldn't waste my time on Hester's anymore, should have a -10 rating. read more

These guys are good. I needed my dryer fixed on a Saturday and they were able to get me on the schedule. The issue was fixed in under an hour; no parts required. The rate seemed high; $125, but maybe that's normal for appliance repair on the weekend. read more

Wash machine wouldn't drain so I youtube'd it and found my drain pump was broke. Called Gene at Hester's and he was able to make a apart he had in the shop work! Super thankful for people who know their trade and encourage you to do what you can to fix your own appliances. Why spend a bundle on a new washer and dryer that sits in the garage?? This morning I bought a washer at 9:30am and was doing laundry by 11:30am! How's that for service?
