Oh my goodness! This place is a fabulous find! They have the best ice cream I've ever eaten! We got to taste test flavors and there wasn't a limit to what to try! My kids loved it, the adults loved it and Anna Lisa was fabulous! She went above and beyond and made each of us feel special! They have game machines, plenty of seating inside and out and a little area for littles to sit as well as games to play! You can also view the inside of their kitchen (where they make their fresh ice cream) from the sitting area, which is cool! You must visit! read more

May 7, 2022 5 stars for the ice cream ONLY ice cream shops are exciting, no?!! The front window even says, "ice cream makes you happy!!!" I'm 60 years old and I still get giddy when I eat it whether at home or out... especially out though! It just makes you smile, right?! I mean..."he likes it, hey Mikey?!" But, I digress...the reason I'm disappointed is the youngsters, Robert (owner) has working for him...NOT impressive. And the asethetics of the inside is blah. Nothing like the photos of when it first opened. The Galveston staff is more engaging but, this girl today...she had 1 person checking out when be we walked in and then never acknowledged us when she was done. Just waited for us to order, no verbal engagement. My friend (a lifelong resident in of Galveston co) had never heard of this place...soo, heck yeah, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! Let's get it! I moved to Galveston from Houston in 2013, and shortly after when this place moved to Post office Street (in galveston) is when I started keeping up with this small business. I told my friend the background story about the owner (Robert's dad, Mike) following his passion after leaving his profession and how he started making creative versions of this creamy goodness in his garage in Idaho...how I met Mike several times when he first opened. (what can I say, when I love food/dessert I learn the stories!) Anyway, this location has a smaller selection of ice cream and toppings...and, no cookies or brownies here either to buy (boo) My friend was excited and impressed because I was excited...I created the magic NOT the employee. This girl knew from overhearing us talking that my friend had never been here before but, meh so what. No offer to try one or any communication at all from her. THAT is a pet peeve of mine. Can y'all tell?!! Anyway, my friend got cake and brownie batter scoops in a waffle cone; she's in love with Mikey now! And she will tell her people and bring her grand kids... WHY? because, of the wonderfully rich ever flavorful...ICE CREAM PS: tidy up as the day goes on because the display glass was cloudy from not getting wiped down throughout the day AND, the restroom? If you love ice cream and you want to support a local business come to Hey Mikey's. The ice cream is homemade and flavors changed daily. My aunt lives on the island and took us after dinner one night of our visit. My husband and sons chose to have their ice cream as an ice cream sandwich. They have cookies they pack with your choice of ice cream. My favorite is the creme brûlée' ice cream. We make sure to stop by every visit. You can also purchase pre packed containers of ice cream in a pint or quart. Fortunately for me there was one last pint of creme brûlée one night when it wasn't on the daily menu for a scoop. I have to admit I did not share any either. As an added bonus they had color changing spoons if you opt for a cup rather than a cone, which was fun. read more

My first time going here. Awesome awesome business. The nice lady that was at the counter was very polite and helpful. She informed me of a few ice cream flavors I had questions about. I got one scoop of the Cookie Monster ice cream and one of the green apple in a waffle bowl. They even went and made me a fresh made waffle bowl to enjoy my ice cream in. The green apple was very good. It taste like a gently sweet green apple. Not a sugar rush of flavor. But rather a smooth flavor that wasn't overpowering. I enjoyed it very much. The cookie monster is vanilla ice cream that's blue, and it has cookies mixed in. Was good as well. Their ice cream is very special. I mean that in the sense of it's very different then ice cream you'd buy at the store. It's a good thing. It's got a thicker consistentcy to it. Also it seems to melt slower. Really it does seem to be the case. Was pretty cool. No pun intended. It's a family owned place that has several interesting flavors they rotate occasionally from what I understand. Great ice cream place now in Texas City. We've been going to the Galveston location for a while now but decided to go to the new Texas City location since we saw that they had the Summertime flavor (my son's favorite. ) This location is nice... very clean, and brand new. Plenty of street parking. Line got a little long after we sat, but seemed to move pretty quick. Friendly folks there, just as friendly as the galveston one. We'll definitely be back as it's a bit closer to our home. The only downside, is there really isn't much to do in this area like there is in galveston. But if all you want is ice cream it's great. read more

Pick up goat cheese and fig ice cream today since it was in a 4.5 oz little container i sat and try to eat first and the flaavor is sooo different thatn before. I was planning to buy most of the cups till i try it. It doesnt taste like goat cheese theres no taste of it i can taste the fig but thats about it. I drive all the way from my place about 1 hr just to eat this flavor as longnas they have it but i dont think will do that again. Price is also expensive. read more

Hey Mikey is very nice. The managers are very friendly and are happy to let you try any of the ice cream and sherbet flavors before you make up your mind which one you'd like. They make the ice cream on site and the store is spotlessly clean. There is plenty of on-street parking and it's a perfect location on 6th street for any of the art walks, farmer's markets or car shows on weekends. Sit and people watch :) I highly recommend the ice cream. It has that rich home made flavor that you just don't find with chain store ice cream. They have sugar cones, waffle cones, sundaes and to go containers. Stock up or have them make you a milk shake to take with you. Well worth the trip downtown to try out. read more
