This is still the candy store to end all candy stores. Always worth a stop. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

Le King's is a must visit in Galveston! I went during Memorial Day weekend and it was absolutely packed wall to wall with people. I tried the strawberry cheesecake ice cream which was smooth and creamy. The ice cream was such a large portion for the price and definitely worth the visit!

It's been a while but La Kings never disappoints. I even picked up doggie treats for their pet section. Taffy pulls throughout the day to wow candy lovers. This place is like stepping back in time! There's tables for dine in or take it to go. Very large location/showroom and every kind of candy you can think of. Coffee, homemade ice cream, shakes, and malts! All the workers are friendly and ready to serve you. Parking can be tough because it's mainly street parking but if you park down the street a walk down the strand can be a fun adventure.

A visit to Galveston wouldn't be complete without the experience of passing through La King's Confectionery on The Strand. The history of candy-making here goes way back to Jack King's father (Jimmy) who started making them in Houston back in 1927. The Confectionery opened sometime in 1976 in the old Victorian building that you see today. It's definitely more than just an old fashioned candy shop. The candy does seem endless when first entering the shop. There's saltwater taffy in the back, and an area where you can see it being made. We didn't get to see the taffy pulling demonstration during our weekday visit, but we did see a huge variety of ready-made flavors for sale. They even had seasonal ones such as Eggnog. This is also near the Purity ice cream counter. A brand that was founded in Galveston around 1889 (before the Great Galveston Hurricane). They happily offer samples to help you decide on a flavor. I must warn you ahead of time. The portion sizes of the ice cream are massive. We ordered 2 scoops apiece. It was more like 4 huge scoops. It may have been a whole pint. It was packed into the large cup (no air pockets whatsoever). I would have just selected one scoop had I known. It's definitely worth the price. I really enjoyed the Banana Walnut and the Coffee Bean Flake flavors. I think my husband had different flavors that he also enjoyed. I was too focused on the huge pint in front of me. We didn't purchase any candy to take with us since we were leaving on a cruise ship. The Chocolate Sand Dollars were calling my name. I would have liked to try the Milky Way latte. Yes, there's a coffee counter as well as fresh roasted nuts and popcorn. This place deserves many more visits. I kind of wish we had more time in Galveston. It was definitely a feeling of being a kid in a candy store. An overwhelming selection of sweets! It's too nostalgic to pass this place up. Highly recommended!

I may be lactose intolerant, but ice cream is number one on my favorite dessert list.So I have tried a lot of it , and I can confidently say that this place is definitely top three on my list! Texture texture texture. The creaminess and smoothness of this ice cream was perfection. And the amount of pecans was crazy. I wish I could have had more of the flavors because of the ones I tried. Everything was delicious.

What makes this place so special and a must see when in the area? The fact that it has survived and fortified itself against change and when you walk in you are in a Time Machine and see a bit of history before your eyes. It's so original to its original time from the counter space and even the machinery they use to this day for the taffy is of period. The ice cream Sunday was made with real fudge featuring their home made ice cream (mint chip) and the hubster got a strawberry milkshake he just couldn't put down. They have everything you want from chocolate, to fudge, to their world famous taffy and if you miss it... they ship! The service was good ol' customer service that's so rare. The gentleman that helped us was so kind and patient explaining how to order. I can't wave enough. Come visit if in the area, it's a tourist destination!!!!

Fantastic candy / chocolate / ice cream shop. Something for everyone. And everyone is there. We've walked thru a few times and got ice cream a couple of times. It's always busy and it's always loud. The ice cream is worth it. I had butter pecan and hubby had cinnamon. De-lish. We will be back.

Such a charming place for a little sweet treat. They have everything from ice cream to candy, quite literally something for everyone. There's cotton candy, taffy, popcorn, chocolate and chocolate covered everything, every candy from your childhood, every gummy candy imaginable, ice cream, ice cream floats, water, and an array of other unique drinks. Sometimes they do taffy pulling demonstrations which is so fun for both kids and grownups to watch! Honestly mesmerizing and sometimes they'll give you free samples of said taffy. It definitely gets crowded on the weekends but what place isn't? The only issues with that is that there's sometimes very limited indoor seating and the bathrooms can get very dirty quickly.

As many yelpers have already stated, this is one of the highlight stops on the Strand. Ironically, it's in very close proximity to the Rocky Mountain chocolate shop just a block away. This place has a lot more than just chocolate, you can get coffee, ice cream, popcorn, and soda fountain drinks. It is very large and spacious with some indoor seating with restrooms at the rear. Dozens and dozens of different chocolate and candy choices, including gift boxes. I decided to let the pictures and video below speak for themselves.

Stop by for the experience! There is taffy pulling at certain times of the day. Samples are given to the crowd So many delicious treats to choose from. I even think they serve coffee? I was so mesmerized by the candy i hardly recall the rest. I do know they have ice cream too. The place feels like you walk into a time warp. Instant good feels when you walk in. Worth it.

Stopped by this popular sweet destination on a Sunday afternoon with family this summer. The store was very lively and packed full of children, exploring all the different types of sweets, but I stayed mostly towards the front and tried out the coffee menu. My aunt and uncle got the vanilla frappe, but I got my usual at other coffee shops, the caramel frappe. It was sweet and packed a moderate caffeine punch. I always appreciate when coffee shops offer blended options.

Second time back here, and now I am certain that I will need to stop by every time I visit Galveston. Very lively and popular spot when we visited so a bit competitive to find seating inside. The desserts are worth it though! This time we got a single scoop of cookies n cream in a cup. The server really packed it in the cup so honestly it came out to more like 3-4 scoops of ice cream, which was perfect for sharing! One of the smoothest, freshest, and tastiest ice creams I have ever had. Next time I am aiming to try the brownie sundae. Root beer float and Taffy here is also amazing.

This dessert shop has it all! Chocolates, saltwater taffy, ice cream, a plethora of coffees, and even a section of treats for your pup. I am pretty sure they have been around since i was a kid. Obviously they are doing something right to be able to stay open when so many other businesses are struggling or having to close their doors.

We traveled to Galveston to visit the store and restaurant firsthand. For years, we followed Ronnie Maceo's story and were saddened by his passing. Thankfully, his daughter, Concetta, has continued the family legacy. We were fortunate to meet her during our visit. She was incredibly gracious, and spending time with her made the experience even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, and we couldn't leave without stocking up on spices and sauces. It's amazing how much history, culture, and tradition are packed into this one place. The gumbo roux is the perfect rich, dark color, and the flavor is everything you hope for--authentic, hearty, and reminiscent of New Orleans. Concetta also shared the weekly specials, giving us even more reasons to return. Needless to say, every future trip to Galveston will include a stop at Maceo's. I highly recommend adding Maceo's to your bucket list. See you there!

My only dislike about the Muffuletta was the meat and cheese portion is small- it's very bread heavy. There are tables to sit it (very hole in the wall style) and the market has some great items to look/shop! The turn around time for my order was quick and I was in and out. I finally made the trip from Katy to visit during the full moon before closing. I absolutely loved the vibe and concept of the store. The mysterious energy was so intriguing and welcoming. Even though I was short on time, the team member did a beautiful job helping me and sharing recommendations for beginner witches. I knew I wanted to start a crystal collection, choose a pendulum, and pick up a few spiritual items. Normally, I like to research books before committing, but I purchased a couple on impulse. my only disappointment was learning afterward that BOOKS are FINAL SALE. I had been under the impression that unopened, non-creased books could be exchanged (not returned) within 10 days. There is a sign displayed, but the wording could be clearer. Had I understood that all books were FINAL SALE, I definitely would have compared prices before purchasing, made a different selection, and purchased only one book. I admire how they place bookmarks inside the books of purchase. The bookmarks double as their business cards, such a smart way to consolidate promotion & usefulness. I adore that unique feature. That said, the friendly service was amazing energy made for a wonderful experience. Witchery has definitely earned a spot on my must-visit list whenever I'm on the island.
