Omg. This is some of the best ice cream I've ever had! I loved the vanilla cornbread though I only had it as a taster. Scoops are more than generous so I would stick with one unless you are sharing with someone. Milk comes from a dairy in Kemah.

We were in Galveston for a girls weekend and had The Milk Bar on our must-try list. We were so excited after seeing all the cute photos and reviews! Originally wanted to stop by for coffee before the beach, but they don't open until 10, so we came back after lunch for dessert. The place is super cute--the cow wall art is adorable, and there's a little table out front for kids to enjoy their ice cream. We were greeted right away by a really sweet lady who came around the counter to explain all the pastries. Great customer service! We ended up getting a few pastries to try, but honestly, we were all pretty disappointed. The chocolate fudge cake slices were dry and hard, like they'd been sitting out too long. For $9.50 a slice, we expected something way better. The muffins were okay--not as dry--and the ice cream was just alright. Overall, it's a super cute spot with great service, but the desserts didn't live up to the hype. Glad we tried it, but probably wouldn't go back for the sweets.

This place is obviously a cash grab. We got a milkshake that was probably around 8ounces for $10. (It wasn't anything special) the service was fine. We weren't greeted but we did get our stuff brought out at a reasonable time. The brownie mousse had a days old texture. Great for pictures though!! Art gallery was not open. P.s. Business Owner does not take criticism well.. lol

What an experience! Cool Cow Creamery is a MUST while you're on the island. Not only the delicate treats, the phenomenal customer service, but the atmosphere and art! The fresh pastries made by a German baker are divine! The ice cream is so smooth and delicious. It's very kid friendly with lots of art on the walls, abundance of selection of snacks/sweets, and a cute cow coloring station. They also have some snacks like fresh popcorn and pretzels. A huge case of cold drinks, and a beautiful coffee bar. Next time I'm getting a coffee and a danish - the perfect pair! They also have a punch card for a free ice cream after your 10th order. What a perk! We came late so the upstairs art gallery was closed but I can't wait to explore it next time at an earlier visit.

By far the best ice cream while visiting Galveston! I wish it had more hours, because we had to wait until day 3 to try it! We sat outside to eat!

I was nervous when I walked up because the sign said closed but we saw people in there so we went in and asked if they were open and they said yes, glad we did! The employees were very kind. We got key lime pie, sugar cookie, petite fruit pie, almond twist, pistachio muffin, strawberry cream cheese muffin, caramel latte, and vanilla latte. We had our whole family with us if you can't tell! Lol The only thing I didn't like was the almond twist, wouldn't recommend that! I had to go back for something else to eat, hence the pistachio muffin. They didn't offer any gluten free options so I had my son get a cheesecake and just not eat the bottom crust. But a GF option would have been nice. They do serve ice cream! Steph, the part owner, took us upstairs to show us the studio and art gallery which was so amazing and I can't wait for that to be up and running! We wish y'all the best in all your endeavors! I really hope this places grows and blossoms!

I've been driving past the cows on Winnie St for a while, so when I found out that they opened a coffee shop/ice cream parlor here I was super excited to check it out! Very cute interior and very friendly staff. I got the Cow Patty Crunch ice cream and I liked it a lot! It was a mix of cookies n cream and Rocky road. I loved the pecans in it, really added a good taste! I'm excited to come back and try their coffee and study here!

I got a t-shirt too that I wore for years until it was ultimately retired. I actually wrote a Yelp review about it that I deleted. In it, I said "The smell of the waffle cones filled the place with smiles and enjoyment. I knew I wanted a waffle cone." What a terrible critic. He will never be Yelp Elite. I haven't been back to Hey Mikey's since then, just because I haven't really been back to Galveston in some time, but my memories of the unique ice cream flavors and toppings remained. Heading back to Galveston for a cruise, I wanted to try and make a stop there again for nostalgia's sake. Instead of heading to the Airbnb, my girlfriend and I drove straight to Hey Mikey's as our first stop in Galveston. We got there around 8:45 pm, which was 15 minutes before they closed (our fault). This is no diss to Hey Mikey's, but almost everything else on The Strand on a Thursday night closes way too early, so it felt like everyone was at Hey Mikey's. The line was extensive in front of us and behind us even after it closed. After waiting through the line for quite some time, I got a waffle cone with their cereal milk ice cream, which had Fruity Pebbles in it, topped with Lucky Charms. They gave it to me with a temperature-changing plastic spoon that turned from yellow to purple when cold. The ice cream was sensational. What an incredible flavor. The only downside was the waffle cone being a little stale, but I fault that to it being a waffle cone ordered right at closing time. The next night, I returned with my cousins and ordered a cup of cereal milk ice cream with Cocoa Puffs as the topping instead. Fantastic stuff. Once again, being there too close to closing meant we had to wait, and we didn't get our ice cream until 9:30, a full 30 minutes after they closed. It was nice that they still served us though! One thing I did notice, which I don't know if it's a normal thing, is that since Hey Mikey's is the only ice cream shop open past 8 o'clock on most weeknights, they seem to get a lot of foot traffic after that time. Their menu is pretty large in its offerings. If it were just scoops of ice cream, the line would move fast, but so many people were ordering shakes, which are a lot more labor-intensive and removed a staff member from their assembly line to focus on the shake. I don't have any advice on how they could easily move the line in the later hours of the night, but man, those kids are working their butts off for everyone to get their late-night sweet treat. Hey Mikey's, you are just as good as I remember.

My boyfriend got their sandwich that was similar to an Italian sub, which comes with the olive spread on it. He liked his sandwich, but felt the olive spread was overwhelming and scraped most of it off. He later said that had there been less of it on the sandwich it probably would've been better for him. My stomach was a little upset, so I was looking for something milder. So I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich off of the kids menu. Maybe it's just me, but a grilled cheese sandwich is American cheese on white bread, grilled. Here, apparently children eat cheddar and Swiss on a grilled roll. I asked to hold the Swiss, and went with straight cheddar as American was not an option. It was OK, but nothing to write home about in my opinion. Apparently this is a popular spot, as the tables were full both before we arrived and after we left, but unfortunately, we did not have an overwhelmingly positive experience.

The interior of the restaurant is small, but interesting. The pizza making portion of their kitchen is visible from the tables, so you can watch them as they make the pizzas. Our waiter was super friendly, and the service was excellent. We started off our meal with the fried mushroom appetizer. Usually, when you order fried mushrooms, you get an entire mushroom dipped in breading and fried. Here the mushrooms are chopped into chunks before breading and frying. It came with both marinara and ranch for dipping sauces. We loved having the smaller chunks, because if you've ever eaten fried mushrooms, you know that when you bite into them , the juice can sear your mouth. By using smaller chunks, it was much easier to eat, especially when piping hot. But then our meat lovers pie came to the table and I understood. I can't quite describe to you what made this pizza unique, but there was something different about it. I think it might simply be that the crust was airy. Whatever it was, I really enjoyed it. Granted, that magic flavor tended to dissipate as the pizza sat and got a bit soggier, but I still really enjoyed it.
