Had a day off today so I scheduled an impromptu facial here at Heyday! I was able to book an appointment right on their website, which was easy and quick to complete. They have membership and non-membership services. I got a customized facial with a red light therapy add on. My esthetician, Kamala, did an amazing job. She educated me on my skin status, recommendations, and made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. The staff there were super nice and accommodating! Skin GLOWING for Days!!!!! I've been coming to Heyday for years, and I've been going to the 19th Street location since after the lockdown. My last facial with Jackie, on 4/19/24 was AMAZING!!!! Today is Tuesday 4/22/24 and my skin is still glowing! I love getting microdermabrasion with red light therapy. Jackie helps me maintain my skincare routine and results, in-between appointments with recommended products. Then she did the facial explaining every step and what she recommends for me. She did a great job with extractions but wasn't able to get everything due to the time limit. At the end of the facial, I received an email with products she recommended. I've had the best service and facials with Lilibeth. I have gotten plenty of facials in the past, but no one has actually made me feel safe and comfortable enough where i fall asleep. I fell asleep twice! I felt super relaxed and calm. Lilibeth is very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. She has great energy and her technique had my skin glowing for days. She recommended products for use which has kept my skin in check months later. My skin feels more hydrated and less congested. I tried to combine the yelp coupon, didn't work :( Ambience: Upon entering, the area is bright and clean. On the walls they have skincare items covering the shelves which are for sale. Think of it as a mini Sephora! Checking In: There are two desks. They will ask for proof of vaccination - get your vaccine cards ready! You are then offered water and to wait for your esthetician. Once your esthetician comes out, you are led down a hallway where other estheticians are working. It is closed off by a curtain for privacy. Time: Had a 5PM appointment, which I booked last minute. Literally the hour before. Face Type: Normal Esthetician: Kari has over 15 years of experience working with faces. She was a makeup artist prior to working in the skincare industry. She cleansed my face and took a look under the light and explained that my face was well hydrated and I only needed minor extractions. She didn't push any additional products or any add ons. Very straight forward in terms of my skin and said if I wanted to I could add the gua sha add on, but made it seem that it was very unnecessary. After the review and recommendation, she then proceeded to do the double cleanse and the rest of the process which adhered to my skin needs - vitamin C Enzyme, facial oil, etc. I nearly fell asleep in her hands, because the face massage was on point. She also gave me a nice shoulder massage while one of the masks was setting in. The face massage she did was the right pressure for the right areas. For example, in the eye area it was light pressure to not tug on the skin too much. The only part where it was a little rough for me, was the extractions. She used her hands and I did tear up a little. She did ask me to speak up if it was too painful at any given point. She definitely mirrors the person in terms of chattiness as well. No awkward moments, but definitely could keep holding a conversation if that is your preference. She thoroughly answered any questions I had regarding my skin. "How do I prevent congestion and black heads on my skin?" "How do I speed up healing of the hyperpigmentation process?" Etc. Afterwards: Received an email of what Kari focused on for this session and what her recommendation is to add to my skincare routine. I love this place for facials. It is a chain as there locations all over Manhattan and also in California. It is a no frills type of place and definitely not a spa. In the front they sell products and they have a couch. There is also water but that is it, definitely not a spa. In the back, there are no rooms but spaces separated by curtains. Although there were no separated rooms, it was not very loud. I was surprised by that. The music is not the typical spa music of nature and instrumental sounds. The music instead is modern, indie rock type songs. I had the classic 50 minute facial which was perfect. Had a super great experience getting a facial here with Jacquelyn/Jackie :) I know pretty much nothing about skincare and Jackie was super helpful giving me an analysis of my skin type, potential skin goals based on my skin, feedback on baby steps I could take to improve my routine, etc. She was also very nice when answering all of my kind of silly, basic questions (do I have to wait after putting on toner?? Do I apply moisturizer to my whole face or avoid the eye zones?? Why is eye cream separate from face cream???) The facial itself was super relaxing while also being informative. She used a ton of products, I got probably the best face massage I've gotten in a while, and minor blackhead extractions. It also felt very catered to my skin personally, and she was proactive in informing me what she was doing and why, which I found super helpful. I've had facials at other places where the aesthetician doesn't talk to me the whole time, or I feel like I'm bothering them by asking questions, so this was a nice experience for me. I read other reviews that people could be pushy about add-ons or buying products, but I did not ever feel like I was pressured to do add-ons or buy anything at the shop afterwards. You get a 20% signup discount for the shop if you register for a membership, and it's honestly a pretty good deal if you plan on picking up a lot of skincare products afterwards. They carry a wide range of high quality brands. The receptionist was also super nice and helpful!! The follow up was also super nice, you get an email with the products/treatments they used, and recommendations of focus areas for next time. The one thing I'll note is that this definitely isn't your standard "spa" experience, so I wouldn't go in expecting that -- you can hear people talking in the background and the music was pretty muted. I looked up Heyday per a friend's recommendation and found an appt at noon at this location. The inside is a small storefront with lots of popular skincare brands and check-in was very easy. The facials area is separated from the store and divided up into multiple semi-private "pods" . The experience is meant to be casual so I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a spa-like setting. Still, the ambience felt relaxing enough for an afternoon break. I had an amazing facial by Milly . She took a lot of time to understand my skin and made recommendations to improve my experience. I never do this but I have to say this was the worst facial I have ever had. First the music was very loud and certainly not spa like. It was a 50 minute facial but I don't think anything much was being done. Hardly any massaging. The last 12 minutes was some blue light thing which was a total waste which meant no massaging. There was talking and laughing going on between the curtains which again was not relaxing. She does not do your neck or chest which i was suprised. First time at Heyday Spa. Super clean space, warm and welcoming staff and a really good facial. Was warmly greeted by the host and offered water upon my arrival. Completed the electronic first time questionnaire which only took a few short minutes. My esthetician Romanka, met me in the the lobby, introduced herself and escorted me to the treatment room. I was offered a blanket which was a nice addition. The space is brightly lit and music a little louder than I'd prefer but it was still relaxing enough. Romanka was an amazing esthetician. So professional and knowledgeable without being pushy and trying to sell me anything and my skin felt great at the end. She is super nice and make excellent recommendations for improving my skin at the first session, I took her advice to heart and noticed a huge improvement in my skin quality. Her extractions were gentle yet effective, and I love the natural, beautifully lightly scented products that they use at this spa. Overall the ambience is clean with no frills, which is relaxing and appeals to millennial aesthetic. I love the educational aspect of this spa, a bit different from facials that I've had elsewhere, the tips were solid and non-intrusive to a relaxing experience. The extractions were not very thorough but I did really enjoy their products and actually bought their vitamin b enzyme cleansing oil which I have been loving. I really wanted to like this place and to have a nice relaxing facial, but unfortunately that was not the case. She was pressing and squeezing SO HARD during the extractions that I said "is it normal for it to hurt this much?" and said "can pressing this hard cause broken capillaries?" and "ow" all while grimacing and flinching in pain. Despite my multiple clear indications that I was in pain she did not stop, and did not ask if I'd prefer to skip extractions. In a client service business I think it's important to listen to the client, so it's really frustrating that she didn't listen to my clear expressions that the pressure was too hard. After the facial I went straight to the bathroom and saw an enormous red lump on my forehead. It's been about 7 hours now and I still have a massive inflamed irritated lump on my forehead from where she was squeezing. read more

Heyday's vibes are great. I used to love Heyday because they opened my eyes to products that have made my skin so much calmer and healthier (even when i tried so many products from sephora). They recently hiked their prices and after this price hike don't seem to include a neck, shoulder or scalp massage even WITH the purchase of a 75 min facial. It makes me sad that Heyday is turning its focus away from its clients and upping prices while diminishing the experience. I used to go every month but now go only every 3 months max. Heyday is not a relaxing environment: it's in a warehouse that's drafty (I ended up asking for an extra blanket and the aesthetician said that it gets cold in there). The chair for facials is definitely more like a dentist's chair, not a bed where most facials take place- it's not a comfortable place to be for an hour. Last, the lights are bright, almost florescent- not soothing at all (other facials I've gotten have been in dimly lit spaces, to let you drift off for a little.) They also only do your face- a lot of facials do your neck, as well. The best part of the experience was the facial itself- the aesthetican was great! But if you're looking to enjoy a facial in a relaxing environment, this isn't the place to do it. read more

Originally heard about heyday from a friend - if you get a referral, $10 for both you and person who referred. Spread the word! I came in on a Saturday around 12PM with a previously made appt for 50 minute session which includes extractions. They're very attentive and ask quite a few question on the iPad for an intake mostly around skin sensitivity, routine, allergies, and goals which is later kept on file in case you return. They also offer water if you're thirsty filling that out or waiting. I came in with "no therapist preference" and was assigned to Jane Lee who is an absolute doll and skin guru herself. During my facial, we kept a friendly conversation going and we reviewed all the products I use daily and at night - I basically use a lot of skincare products, and she told me to be aware of potentially over exfoliating my face with acids. My main priority was getting extractions which we did for my nose, lower cheeks and chin area. Throughout, she gave advice on potential products I should consider incorporating and I snagged a small sample of vitamin c serum and physical exfoliating cleanser. Moving forward, I think I'd definitely be back and in to see Jane again! They also offer consultations about enhancements such as chemical peels, but since I already use exfoliating acids in my routine, she advised against it - it's always an option at a slight additional cost. read more

I was a bit disappointed here. There were long periods were the facialist wasn't doing anything no massaging of neck or hands..I also never heard from the facialist what products were being used. They do really push for the upgrades, which I declined. My facial started 5 minutes late not because of me, I showed up 10 minutes prior to the facial start time and then ended slighty early, so it was really more like a 40 minute facial. The front desk when I was checking out did say that I could try someone else next time when I voiced my concern, but the approach seemed way too casual when a customer is voicing a concern...not their fault because I understand the business model is to charge less for the facials given the space is just curtains but I was not able to relax because you are overbearing other people's conversations like that one of the facial neighbors went on vacation to Mexico etc.. read more

I committed to six months and made it to 5. I attended the Reade Street location after work around 7pm. I didn't another location in Chelsea and had a pretty nice experience. The cause for the 2 star review is this: I finally splurged after 4 months and in November 2019 added on a gentle peel. As I've requested the same aesthetician my expectations were set. I asked before we proceeded of I needed to remove any makeup before I arrived and was advised that all facials in the package I purchased began with a thorough cleaning. Imagine my fortitude after the treatment with add on peel I go to the restroom you'll myself together for my commute and find my lip gloss smeared on my chin and eye shadow fully still on one eye! A lot of places greenwash their facials but if you begin to look at the ingredients of the products they use, they actually contain toxic ingredients full of cheap fillers. Heyday uses natural products of the very highest quality, and I was so excited to discover a facial place I can really trust! I love that during a busy week I can swing by for a shorter, refreshing facial, and add on something more intensive if needed. The variety of lengths, prices, and add-ons allows me to customize my facial to my schedule, current skin situation and budget, and the variety of locations makes it even easier for me to find the time to come in for some skin case.
