If I want something refreshing, I get the coconut Matcha inside the app. It'll tell you what exactly is customized or not. I noticed that some drinks don't allow you to customize certain things while some others do. Went to hangout with my friends at HeyTea today and we came during their BOGO promo. It was pretty cool because we didn't expect it but the line was crazy long . Luckily we got there early, before 11am, so the line wasn't too bad. The parking lot was super packed but there's extra parking around the back, it has signs for residential and retail parking but you can still park there. So no worries! The service was slow as you can expect with a huge line but they put a lot of effort to make the drinks, just the wait can be boring, especially if you don't get a seat inside. We lucked out and found a seat but otherwise you'd just stand outside. I got the Matcha Coconut drink -- it's a really pretty looking drink and has a coconut flavor. I could taste grapefruit pulps. I was able to adjust sweetness level too. I also tried their Brown Sugar Milk Tea. The tea is strong but the creaminess complemented it so it's a good combo. Boba is also soft. They have kiosks to order and it will give you your order number, which you can monitor the status on the tv screen display. Prices are on the $7-$8 range per drink. Until today, I tried the Yingde black milk tea with light sugar and boba, it changed everything. It was one of the best milk teas I've had in a while. I thought there was no way it would take that long, and I got there around 20 minutes later and I had to wait another 15 minutes. It did take that long. The store had so many orders. The Coconut Mango Boom and Coconut Cloud Matcha are sooo good and pretty! I'm picky about coconut drinks and thought there's tasted fresh and yummy! Our group got 5 drinks total; they put the perfect amount of ice, sago, coconut, and cheese foam in our drinks. They also offer extra matcha without extra charge, but it wasn't clear on the kiosk if that means matcha powder or matcha cheese foam (more about that in the next section..) The only thing I would change about my drink is the amount of sugar. Even though I selected "mildly sweet", they were both a lot more sugary than I prefer, and they felt heavy. There's only one self-order kiosk and no register so I felt a bit rushed to order since I was with a med-sized group and there were people waiting behind us. I also that the placement of the menu on the counter (see pic) is awkward if a lot of people want to view it at once. Putting the menu up on the big screens makes more sense imo The kiosk experience was was doable but not super intuitive (they nested boba under Extras so it was harder to find compared to other boba shops that surface the "Add Boba" option more accessibly. They also don't go by the typical sweetness levels that most boba shops do like 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% which made it confusing to choose the lowest sugar option- It wasn't clear if I should choose Less Sweet or Mildly Sweet. The ambience is nice but nothing too impressive, it's pretty inside with minimalist decor and a light color scheme, LED lights which felt modern and relaxing but it's kind of loud on side since it's busy and they leave the door open. Talking 1 on 1 is easy but in a group setting, you'll have to strain a bit to hear people sitting further from you. Customer service was friendly and helpful but it felt a bit awkward to stand at the counter to flag someone down when we had a question about the menu while using the self-order kiosk. I've had Heytea in China before, but I was excited to try it in the US for the first time. I love their fruit teas and slushies, but it's on definitely on the pricy side. Also, this is more of a takeout spot as there's not much seating. I came with some friends Saturday afternoon around 3:45 pm and it was PACKED. There were probably 15 people behind the counters, and they were churning out SO many drinks. There was a short line to order. They have machines for ordering, but I think they turned them off because it was too busy. We placed our order with the cashier. Their menu doesn't have any description of what's in the drink, so I blindly ordered the green grape boom for $7.49 and hoped it would be good. They have some interesting options like mulberry strawberry boom or yumberry bloom that I'd love to go back and try. They have a TV screen that shows the status of your order, so you can check and see when they start working on it and when it's ready. It took ~15 minutes for our drinks to be ready. I really loved my green grape boom! It was a very refreshing grape slushy with lots of small grape chunks at the bottom. To be honest, I'm not even sure whether there was tea in there... I think there was? I really enjoyed my drink, though I do think it's a bit pricy for what it is. I'm glad Heytea is opening up lots of locations in the bay. The setup here makes you feel rushed as you spend a long time figuring out how to place your order on the ONE kiosk in the store. There's a lot of time spent scrolling while everyone tries to decide what to get. They really should have 2 ordering kiosks. Line to order can get long with this avoidable bottleneck. You can also scan a QR code to place your order, if you don't mind looking at your itty bitty phone screen. Drinks didn't take too long after placing orders. However I couldn't hear anyone call out order numbers. The room is echo-y inside and on the loud side, so it would be difficult to hear them shout out anything. You have to keep an eye on the screen mounted at the back wall, which will show when your order number is ready. There is bench seating along the long wall on the left. No tables along this bunch. There's only a few small tables, barely enough room for everyone to set down their drinks. There's also one table to the right of the entrance, for wheelchair access. It's all very minimalistic and not very inviting. We ordered a Passion Fruit Blast and 2 Cloud Mangoes. One cloud mango had "minimal" sugar while the other had "less" sugar. It was a very small difference between the two. The drink with "less" sugar was just a teeny tiny bit more sweet. Both were delicious with their strong mango flavor and mango fruit bits in the drink. So refreshing! The Passion Fruit Blast had a good tanginess to it, plus a little crunchy texture from the seeds. This drink had white pearls, which were hard to see due to the color of the drink. The drinks here are high quality and taste fabulous! However this shop is also on the pricey end of the scale, with most drinks between $7 and $10. The wait was so long, they turned off both the online/app ordering as well as the ordering kiosk inside. Wow so many great drinks here, tried the Mango Grapefruit Boom, Strawberry Mulberry Cloud, and Green Grape Boom! All drinks were ordered with minimal sugar, but they were still quite sweet from the fruits and toppings, especially the drinks with added brown sugar boba. Also tried getting less ice on the Mango Grapefruit Boom with boba and the drink wasn't cold enough and the ice melted quickly, so I recommend getting normal ice for the slush drinks! Mango Grapefruit Boom with Brown Sugar Boba (5/5): Great combination of flavors and I would personally not add Brown Sugar Boba as the drink had lots of toppings in it already and the hot/warm Brown Sugar Boba was quickly warming the drink and melted all the ice. Slush turned into a smooth drink. Strawberry Mulberry Cloud with Sago (5/5): Lots of fruit and tea flavor and the Sago was an excellent add-on to the drink! Strong Mulberry taste and refreshing. Tasty fruit slush I would recommend. It was more of a fruity drink compared to the Mango Grapefruit Boom which tasted fruity as well but more on the dessert side. Green Grape Boom (3/5): Strong grape flavor, but even with the minimal sugar it was just sooooo sweet. Tasted just like the Korean green grape bonbon drink. If you aren't sure what that is, just search "korean grape bonbon". It was tasty, but just too sweet for my taste. Ordered 5 drinks total, 4 were ready but the Green Grape Boom took forever to come out so the ice in the drinks nearly all melted on our drinks. I've only been to the North San Jose location before, but both are of comparable level in terms of quality and service. We came here around 3 PM on a Sunday after a late lunch and the line was still out the door! We ordered a large crisp grape boom and a regular strawberry boom. The fruit flavor was so refreshing and tart, definitely perfect for a summer day (even though it's currently winter!) The flavor of the tea really comes through and the fruit adds enough natural sweetness, so I went for a minimal level. The employees are all wearing standardized beige and grey aprons and uniforms and the inside has a very clean and chic feel. This milk tea originates from China so claims to not really be categorized as boba milk tea despite offering the ingredients that are found in boba milk tea or so I've heard. Regardless Heytea offers a variety of great drinks. Every drink that I've enjoyed every drink I had tried from there. Their grape drink had me skeptical but decided to try it and it was refreshingly delicious. This time around I tried their mango coconut slushie with sago. It was the perfect blend of sweet, fruity and delicious. The texture of the fruit and sago weren't too mushy. This place ranks in my top 5 of milk tea places. I do go here for specific drink types opposed to other places. I do go here specifically for their cream top tea drinks as well as slushie drink items. Can't necessarily provide an opinion on their milk teas as of yet. Some may say depending on the drink. it's not as tea forward as other places, but they do pride themselves on their cream top beverages. My first time at Heytea and was just so amazed by both the beautiful modern space, their artwork and that the drinks made from all natural ingredients! Note tea wise- they primarily use jasmine tea and specialize in their cheese cloud topping and fruit tea drinks. Was skeptical at first because I haven't had much luck with chinese milk tea chains, such as Wowtea and Molly Tea as I have noticed chinese milk tea chains tend to make drinks where the tea taste is very mild, with a very thin diluted consistency... compared to drinks at taiwanese milk tea chains, but that definitely is not the case with HeyTea! We ordered the Matcha Cloud Jasmine Latte and the Matcha Bobo Shake. Both had a nice creamy consistency, both not too sweet and the latte has a prominent jasmine tea taste. I also like despite using jasmine tea as the base, the drink was not too floral tasting, and balanced well with the matcha and cheese foam. I think my bf and I ended up liking the latte more because we loved the taste of the jasmine tea. Though the boba in the shake was very fresh and chewy! The staff here are very kind and efficient, as a first timer they also let me know they are known for their cheese cloud drinks and their Grape Boom drink. Service was also very fast and you order on the kiosk or through their own HeyTea app. For my second visit, I ordered via the app and they give you a 15% discount on your first order and then you can you order here to earn rewards/future discounts. I also loved how the app showed a breakdown of the drink components so you can really understand what is in your drink. I think for the whole overall experience it is worth the 8$ price tag and it is a hip place to hang out with friends, but not sure if I would go out of my way for the drinks specifically. read more

Originally when this location opened, I would have given it three stars for their poor layout and customer service. They've since moved where the order/pickup lines are, and it makes such a huge difference. I think the service has improved as well! They messed up my order but were quick to fix it. I had ordered the matcha in the special promo Yayoi Kusama cup, but they gave me the regular cup. When I pointed it out to him, he poured it into the smaller promo cup and dumped out the remaining matcha, which was kind of wasteful :( but other than that, service has since been quick and efficient. I've also gotten the triple supreme matcha latte from this location, which was good but honestly I preferred their matcha jasmine (which I don't see anymore??) or maybe just a regular matcha latte. Triple matcha just kind of all tasted the same so that I couldn't even taste the matcha jelly, only noted the texture since it was all same same taste. This location also used to be the only one that offered the strawberry peach boom, which was a refreshingly fruity drink. Their crisp grape drinks are still great though! I never thought I was a grape drink person until heytea came along! The fresh grape is just so refreshing and juicy. Parking can be hard to find here since it's a busy plaza, but on the bright side, if you're waiting for your drink, you can wander around Trader Joe's! We rolled up on a Saturday afternoon after pounding a buncha beers at a buncha different places, which is really the best way to be spending any Saturday, amirite?! Yeah. Duh. Cuz when you start your day out right, you end up ending your day right, and that's just the way to things.
