Been going here for a bit, but today I went with my 16 year old son. He had right above shoulder length long hair. He said "don't cut it too short. Take an inch off". The guy cutting his hair used (probably) #3 clippers on him. My son is too shy and nice to speak up. This idiot cut off his long hair! My son was very upset. It's unbelievable how nonchalant this man was when I confronted him. Never going back and will make a point to warn everyone when I'm at that shopping center to avoid. read more

On two separate occasions I have gone to this establishment for a haircut, each time asking for a different haircut, and not only were my requests pretty much ignored, what I ended with was the same attempt of mirroring a picture on the wall. There were two different barbers, I asked for two different haircuts, and somehow I walked out of there with the exact same disappointment on my head. If I could wear hats at my work it would not be a problem but I have to sport this garbage around for the next month. I showed the lady several photo. She said she could do it and she proceeded to buzz my hair so short. Not even alittle short, I mean very short. It was not much of a fade, it just goes from really short to longer all of a sudden. And it was NOTHING like the picture. She was more worried about getting other business and return business than she was about doing a good job. She asked me to refer her in order to get more business, I don't think I will. Been bringing my kids here for a year. Highly recommend Quang- he is excellent with kids and gives a great, quick cut. They put Nickelodeon on the TVs for kids, have a free drink cooler, and give lollipops at the end if parents approve. SO MUCH CHEAPER than cartoon cuts, and for a better cut! Hi Barber is run by a rotating cast of Vietnamese family members after a couple of years of getting my hair cut I know to constantly maneuver to avoid the older ladies who both take interminable phone calls in the middle of hair cuts and can while away an hour while they snip at your hair. The men however are uniformly quick and very good. They offer a few touches that are really unusual and well worth a stop. The hot towels are nice and hot and they make a real effort to get all the bits of hair off your face. The massage is a nice touch as is the straight razor shave along the sideburns and the back of the neck. I believe it is $14 for a haircut, cash only, and that is a real bargain. I love seeing the Hair Cuttery next door consistently empty while they have a wait on the weekends. Side note: I like to come in to check on the little Buddhist shrine in the corner which always has fresh offerings and is well maintained. I am also mesmerized by the posters of hairstyles that dates from around 1989. Especially because all of the men sport the same heavily gelled bouffant that is the antithesis of what they do at this barber. read more

I agree with the previous review. Anna is the best at Hi-Barber and she is also the owner. This is a family business that provides the lost art of hospitality. The atmosphere is closer to two stars. The shop is very clean just a little dated. The magazine selection is above average while you wait for a chair to open (5min). The barbers are great though. The price for a cut is $14, beard trim $9, and a shave is $14. I think they should offer a combo haircut and shave for $25 which would really expand their business. After the haircut is where Hi separates from the pack with a hot shaving cream straight razor cut on the back of your neck and sideburns. A nice mild after shave is applied which leaves you with a numb sensation. The hot towel from the back of the shop is brought out and then a head and neck massage follow. The price is right, the service is great, and I'll always go a little out of my way to support a nice family business. read more

Hi Barbershop is the nearest barbershop to my residence. My boyfriend -seriously- needed a trim, so there wasn't much to lose (except his hair). As I walked into the barbershop, there was a sign that read "Free Hot Towel and Massage". Sweet. (Don't think you're getting spa treatment. The hot towel and massages were nice extra touches though.) The barber did a good job on my boyfriend's hair. He actually spent several minutes working on it. From what I've experienced, barbers tend to rush sometimes. He used a straight-edge blade with foam to clean up my husband's neck and sideburns. Normally other barbers use electric razors. That was a welcomed experience. My quip: The barber left a few times during the hair cut to answer his mobile phone. That wasn't professional. To pay $12 for my boyfriend's extremely handsome haircut, I'm satisfied. The man who cut my hair was very patient and particular but was almost completely clueless!! He was very aggressive and rough with the clippers. He finished my hair cut, which is very basics short back and sides. and then decided he needed to do a bit more to make it even but made things so much worse. They even over a hot towel massage which is very unique 'extra' one can receive here rather than at any other hair cuttery or barber shop. Lee did a great job with my medium length cut. He listened to my instructions for a scissor cut. He took good care going over his work at least 4 times making sure he didn't miss anything. A fantastic experience. I stopped by the shopping center to go to the Hair Cuttery, but I like to support small businesses so I gave Hi Barber a try (just two doors from Hair Cuttery). I believe I got Henry for my haircut. While it was a simple haircut, he treated it with care and attention. The straight-razor shave and towel massage was a great bonus. Couple this with a free water or soda while you wait and this is a top-notch place. They also have TVs so you don't have to listen to whatever terrible music most places play. Got caught with an old viet lady and completely messed my hair game up. From my experiences, elderly asian female barbers are the worst. They never listen to what you request, always work just one side of your hair (your do turns out uneven in the end), and will get sidetracked easily with chatter. read more

I've lived in Burke a long time and this is where I usually go to get a haircut. The place is neat and clean and they always have plenty of barbers, so I've never had to wait for more than a couple minutes. I'm not big on patience, so I usually jump into the first available chair, instead of waiting for a particular barber. They all do good work though. The cut includes a straight razor trim of the sideburns and neck with warm shaving foam. You also get the hot towel and a brief back massage, which is nice. The price is now $13 and for those of you keeping score, I tip $5, assuming all goes well. If you find a barber you prefer, I know you can call ahead and make an appointment. There are a couple cheaper places in and around Burke, so price is the only thing keeping these guys from 5 stars. read more

My hair cut is very simple, I get the standard buzz cut. But nonetheless, the barbers here do a great job. They taper it off in the back and even get out the scissors towards the end to get the random hairs that the razor doesn't get. Like any good barber should, they use a straight edge razor along the back of my neck and around my ears at the end. The price is decent ($14 as of this writing for me). Several of their barbers have cut my hair and I have never left unsatisfied with my hair cut. Hi Barber is a family run business managed by Anna, who shows hospitality welcoming each customer as they walk in. Found this barbershop a few months ago after my cousin, who worked at PR Partners in Tysons moved out of state. So I was pretty spoiled at getting quality cuts at a hair salon. I was wolfing pretty bad so I just took a chance and went to this local barbershop, and was very happy. Kimberly always does a great job. My fades are always nice and even, and she takes her time.
