First off, I've been going to Kingstown Barbershop for about 20 years. Please keep in mind, it has had several different owners. The new owner "Yong" Is absolutely an incredible barber, and stylist. Very few people are as picky, and meticulous about their hair as me. When she took over, I immediately posted a review on Google about how incredible she was and I even included a picture of my hair. She takes her her time and makes sure it's exactly what you want. If you are a new client, she will even ask you to hold the mirror to be sure she's getting it just the way you want it. There are two Korean ladies who have cut my gair for a few years. I've had consistently very good haircuts since i've been a customer.

I recently brought in my son with special needs. I'm guessing our experience there has some relationship to that. The woman who cut his hair was pleasant in her manner with him and skilled. My issue, and the reason I would not go back, was that there was not in anyway an earnest attempt to find or carry out our wishes. She started taking first cuts without ever asking me what we wanted! I did try to intervene to express my preferences, but honestly she cut very quickly and it was hard to stay ahead of her. We wound up leaving with a cut that was very different and much shorter than what we wanted and what I tried to very carefully describe. Additionally, there is a sign outside indicating they accept Visa, but they no longer do and because I was not carrying sufficient cash, was charged an additional fee. Disappointing! read more

Brought my 86 year old dad in for a haircut and both of us were completely happy with the haircut and the shop. Yong was great and gave him exactly the haircut he was looking for. Highly recommend this place! read more

I went in for a trim, I showed the lady a picture and told her what I wanted I was then cut off saying "I got it" they then proceeded to take shelves off the sides because " it was to long for me" and because I couldn't finish telling her she took way to much off the top. she wouldnt listen and I'm pissed off read more

I have been going to this place for 35 years, since back when Jerry owned it and then his son Rusty took it. It used to have wait times but since folks are working from home more, economy, styles, etc. the haircut is not as popular an item for most men anyway. A very nice new new lady has the shop now and she really knows her craft! She has 2 fine stylists with her. As a weekday customer, I have yet to wait to be served. The shop is still reasonably priced and very clean. Great location and easy parking. read more

(Written by Curtis) Anytime I am going to a new barber shop, I get a little nervous about trusting someone I don't know with my hair. But then I tell myself that it's just hair and it will grow back (hopefully). When I first walked into Kings Park Barber Shop (after driving around the professional building complex trying to find it), I felt pretty confident about my choice. Upon walking in, I was very pleasantly greeted by several barbers, and though the place was far from empty, I didn't have to wait to be serviced. I sat down in the old style barber chair, the kind with the ash tray built into the arm (though I don't believe it's been used in years), and away my barber went. Everybody in the place was very talkative, and I admittedly, felt a little out of place. It seemed like a familiar crowd chatting about everything from marriage and funerals to high school football, Old Country Buffet and even Viagra. A first I thought, 'what a nice little, "small town" barber shop.' Very similar to the one I went to as a young boy in Pennsylvania. After a few minutes however, I longed for some peace and quiet. I didn't really care about any of the things I was hearing, and had absolutely nothing to contribute to the conversation. As far as the actual haircut, the end result was not too bad as Jade's grimace implied. I've had better and I've had worse. My barber was relatively slow (not that I want him rushing), and I was a little discouraged that he used the electric trimmers more than the scissors. I didn't like the fact that I could not see myself in the mirror as my hair was falling onto my lap, but that's not a huge deal for me. He put way too much gel in my hair, but shaved the back of my neck with a straight-edge, which was a really nice touch. All in all, he cut it a little shorter than what I had hoped for, but it sure beats Hair Cuttery or some other soulless chain. For $17 ($15+ tip), not a bad cut, but I think next time I'll be trying someplace new. read more

Russell is the man. Kings Park Barber Shop is a great place to get a haircut at a reasonable price. I don't trust many people with my hair on account of multiple bad experiences, but I'm pleased to report that these guys know how to do it right. Big plus: If you're a Burke local and have been here a while, you're in for some great conversation. Overall very happy with haircut and the awesome service here. I was very specific on my plain haircut; haircut with hard part, trim the part. Started out great until the end when I asked him to trim the part and he said "he" doesn't do that. Since when is it up to a service provider to decide for his customers what they get? I didn't ask him to do anything illegal, immoral, or unethical. Simply cut my hair the way I want it. The barber gave my kid an extremely uneven haircut, really the worst my kid has received. I should have checked the haircut closely, particularly how even the hair on the top of my kid's head was, prior to leaving. However I am accustomed to trusting that a barber/stylist will not allow us to leave with such an uneven haircut. The haircut I received from the barber was slightly better, still the worst I have received in years. Barber said almost nothing during the haircuts, not very friendly. I do not give a one star review lightly, the service and results were just that unpleasant. read more

I am absolutely appalled by the service I received today.I got a haircut here today ,I was clear that I wanted a number 2 haircut.We got to the end and I ask the barber to trim my sides as there was no visible difference in my haircut. His response was "Go back to where you've been going" I don't do that, which is no way to treat a customer.This is very unprofessional and this kind of behavior explains why the majority of barbers have left this establishment. read more

This is my regular barber shop for several years now. It's old-school, simple, and reasonably-priced. You still receive a blade/shaving cream finish. Russell might be the only barber working right now, so you might have some waiting time. I receive a perfect cut every time. read more

Great consistent haircuts (I get a trendy curtain cut or side-parted pompadour) and very friendly staff. Only complaint is the asian lady cut my ear with the straight razor, so I just avoid her now, but the rest are quite skilled. Almost no waiting time, accepts credit, and very reasonably priced. read more

Been going since '97. Great haircuts. Traditional, TVs and radio keep it entertaining. Not sure what's going on with high turnover which they've lost some quality barbers. Which now increases wait time. read more

First of all this is a one barber shop, not six. In my opinion he has the personality of brick. I watched him give a cut to another customer and the first thing he did was grab the clippers and zip zip. Ten minutes at most. I asked if that was his standard cut (he lists 7 or 8 styles) and he said it was that customers style. Then he said if I want one of those fancy salon styles, there's one of those around the corner. Maybe he didn't have his Tuesday morning coffee, but his "if you don't like it go somewhere else attitude" was enough. I said apparently you don't want my money ($23 for business man cut), and left. Finally, the Web site needs to be updated to show one barber and correct Saturday hours. I don't recommend unless you want a military cut! read more

They used to have great barbers. Ones that would take their time and give you a great haircut. They have all left and only the previous owners son is left. I barely sat down and he was done. The other barbers used to ask if you'd like your eye brows trimmed for example. They took pride in their work. Don't waste your time and money going here. read more
