Great place to get your hair cut. I was used to spending too much money on stylists. I was looking for someone who could give me a mullet, a modern mullet, and was honestly having a hard time finding a stylist who was trained to do this type of cut. I walked in to 153 Barber Shop and showed the lady what I wanted, asked if she could cut it and very confidently said yes. Short summary: Worst haircut I've ever had anywhere. Barber was very rushed and imprecise, and frankly callous. I was left with a bowl cut and I'm left to recover until a more skilled barber can restore it. Note: I've only tried one barber here (a male) and this review applies to him only. Have you ever had a barber so rough and imprecise that he basically hits you with the shavers? Have you ever felt your scalp sting due to small cuts left by the barber stabbing your head with the tools? If not go ahead and get a cut with one of the male barbers here. Not only that, but he left me with a bowl cut and uneven sides. He was not skilled with the tools and was very rushed. If you have very short and simple hair it would be ok but this barber definitely does not have the skills or understanding to cut anything beyond a buzz cut. Unfortunately I've had to reevaluate my experience here. I've been going here for a number of years, getting outstanding haircuts... ...until the past few months. The weren't terrible, but not great; not the same fine attention to detail. This last time, I asked for a little more to be taken off... the lady did (more than I wanted) but only after applying gel to my hair and THEN cutting more off. I'm not sure if she was having an off day or what, but when I got home I noticed it was cut shorter, and much higher than normal and looks uneven... thankfully my hair grows pretty quickly so it can grow out and be fixed, but in the meantime I'm stuck trying to make it work with gel and some creative comb work. I'm going to have drive further, but am going to try out a different barbershop. read more

Worst hair cut in 34 years. She spent a whopping 6 min on my head. Had me looking at mirror on opposite side of the wall to ask if it was ok. When I got home I realized why. Asked for a fade, and got nothing close. Nothing was trimmed correctly. Hair was laying a full inch on the side of my head and I look ridiculous. Hair around the ears, fade was anything but that, and nothing trimmed to include bangs. I'll have to get it done again. Never recommend anyone that doesnt take the time to ensure it's done right. We used to live right across the street so my husband used to get his haircut here frequently. Our dog had to get surgery which is right next door so after we dropped her off, we came in so my husband can get his haircut. They were open right on the dot at 0900! The place looked very clean and they had plenty of chairs but there was only on lady working the floor. He was the first one there and the lady was able to get to him right away. I was waiting in their lobby while he was getting his haircut watching a Ryan and Kelly show. Their waiting area was nice. They had a few couches and a large tv mounted on the wall. There were a few nicely stacked magazines if you want to read. I typically read stuff on my phone but I decided to watch some TV while I waited. while two other gentlemen came in for their cut. They really know how to cut men's hair! My husband got 3 on the top and 2 on the sides. His haircut came out really nice and they are so affordable, we also ended up getting $2 off for being an early bird which we gave as an extra tip to the hairdresser. Excellent service and great haircut! I am military and Cindy does a first-class job every time. I have watched them cut childrens' hair as well and they do a great job with the kids. Their facility is very clean and bright. They do a fantastic job handling all the social distancing, safety and personal hygiene protocols (face masks and shields, lots of hand sanitizer for them and you, single use pens for signing credit card charges, and so on...). I usually get an OK haircut here, maybe a 3-4 star rating, but today I had my hair cut by Sunny, and she butchered my head. She cut a straight back instead of the requested tapered/faded, and one side was not as even as the other; around one of my ears the hairline has notch in it; but the icing on the cake is that, without my permission or my request, she took it upon herself to surprise me and try to trim my beard and I now have a a good chunk of my beard missing. Problem is, their mirrors are so far away from your head that it's hard to see if they have done a good job. I had high hopes because my husband went here and got a very nice military cut. I took 2 of my sons here that didn't want a military cut and asked to have their hair left a little longer (like a teenage style) and both women cutting their hair said ok. Well, they walked out the door with very short, military-ish hair cuts. My boys were not happy. The place is clean, they do use proper techniques and if you want a short style I would recommend them. I've been to a few barbers in the area and frequented Andy's Barber shop in Vienna for a few years and I must say this is probably one of the best haircuts I've received. Look elsewhere, I received a very rushed haircut and straight-blade shave from Cindy. I left the store and minutes later realized that my neck was nicked in multiple places and I was still bleeding. I went back in asking for a refund, which I got, but not a single apology or acknowledgement of unprofessional service. Cindy's excuse was that my beard was too thick...as the professional, isn't it her duty to either refuse service or do a proper and SAFE job if she does do it?
