Great advertising rag. Not so much in news stories. Definitely needs a new editor.

Gustavo I actually…read moredon't remember my experience here but I was going thru my drafts and I rated it 5 stars & the only thing I wrote was "Gustavo", Was it an appetizer? A dish? My server's name? No idea, I really don't remember but if my old self said 5 stars, I believe it. LOL

I have been coordinating our nonprofit organization's board meetings for almost a decade and every…read moreyear we do one big group dinner. And when I say big, I mean 30+ people, all with their own preferences, dietary needs and occasionally very specific requests. Wrangling that many people for dinner is not for the faint of heart. I do everything I can to make life easier on the restaurant. I reach out well in advance, make arrangements ahead of time, pre-order appetizers and try very hard not to descend upon an unsuspecting restaurant on a Saturday night with 30 people and a dream. But we do have some quirks, including needing individual checks for alcohol, and I know firsthand that accommodating a group our size while also running a busy restaurant is a LOT. Lulu's California Bistro made it look effortless. From the beginning, working with Chanel to plan our dinner was an absolute dream. She was kind, responsive, professional and completely on top of everything. She helped me figure out which appetizers would work best for the group, answered every question and somehow never once made me feel like I was being a bother. When you are the person responsible for coordinating 30+ people and a restaurant responds to your various requests with some version of "Absolutely, we can take care of that," instead of making you feel like you have ruined their entire week, you remember it. Chanel made the planning process unbelievably easy. Then we arrived and I was honestly blown away by the setup they had created for us. It was PERFECT. We had a wonderful space for our enormous group and everything was ready and waiting. So let me say this very clearly for anyone frantically Googling "Palm Springs restaurant for large groups": THIS IS YOUR PLACE. The menu is also fantastic for a group because there is genuinely something for everyone. I especially loved that Lulu's has entire gluten-free and vegetarian menus rather than treating those guests like an afterthought who should simply be grateful someone removed the croutons from a salad. When you are planning for 30+ different humans, that kind of thoughtfulness matters enormously. And then we met Ramon. RAMON. I genuinely do not know how one person takes care of a group our size on a busy Saturday night and somehow remains friendly, funny, patient, professional and incredibly attentive, but Ramon did it. He was an absolute angel from beginning to end. He handled our giant table, our questions, our various needs and all of those individual alcohol checks without ever seeming rattled or making anyone feel like they were asking too much. More than that, he was just a wonderful human being. He laughed with us, took care of us and somehow managed to make a table of 30+ people feel like we were his favorite table of the night rather than the table that might make him reconsider his career choices. That is hospitality. Ramon is an extraordinary representative of this restaurant and I hope the people who run Lulu's know exactly how special he is, because our entire group certainly does. And thankfully, all of this wonderful service came with genuinely delicious food. Everyone was raving about what they ordered and considering the size of our group, I am fairly certain we collectively sampled dang near the entire menu. I kept hearing some variation of "this is SO good" from different ends of the table all night. I am sure Lulu's is wonderful if you are coming in for dinner with two or four people, but if you are trying to find somewhere in Palm Springs for a large group, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have been coordinating dinners like this for almost a decade and this was hands down the easiest and one of the best large-group dinners we have ever had. That does not happen by accident. It happens because people care. Chanel made everything before we arrived easy. Ramon made everything once we got there wonderful. And the entire Lulu's team gave 30+ people a fantastic Saturday night in Palm Springs. We will absolutely be back. And that is in no small part because of Chanel and Ramon. Please give these two all of the flowers. They earned every single one.

Great brunch spot! We were visiting from out of town and were looking for somewhere to grab brunch…read more I checked Yelp and found Wilma & Frieda's and liked the reviews I read. The location was easy to find, ample parking too. The restaurant itself is kind of small (it's kind of more like a coffeehouse with a decent-sized table-service area), but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table on our second visit. (Yep, we liked it enough that we went twice during our trip!) The servers and staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was hot and delicious, and the portions were generous. And there were a good variety of savory and sweet brunch items to choose from. They also serve lunch and have a bakery counter, but I didn't look too hard at those parts of the menu because I knew I wanted the short-rib scramble as soon as I saw it on the online menu, haha! And the biscuits--oh my goodness, they are so good. They taste perfectly homemade and are pillow soft yet just the right amount of crumbly without being a dried, cracking mess. Across my 2 visits, I had the short-rib scramble (yum) and the Meany (basically eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a biscuit--yum), and my daughter had the biscuits and gravy, which she said was great. I highly recommend Wilma & Frieda's and will definitely go back on future Palm Springs trips.
