My friends and I came here on a wim and we absolutely loved our time here at Wilma & Frieda's cafe! From the moment we walked inside we were welcomed by the manager on shift and had no wait time (we were all very hungry so we were thankful for no wait) and we were greeted by our helpful and attentive waiter Jonny. Jonny welcomed us with smiles and laughs and immediately asked for our beverage of choice and if we were ready for food. We all ordered the freshly squeezed orange juice they offer, very refreshing and had us looking forward to our meals! We ordered and shortly after our food arrived! I ended up getting the Christmas enchiladas and they were an honorable mention!!! The pairing of both green chile sauce and red mole was to die for, definitely had me missing my abuela! Overall, the ambience was calm, the food was immaculate, and all servers, food runners, and the café staff inside were busy like bees! As someone who used to serve, this restaurant clearly values community and communication within their staff

Service was friendly and attentive. We got a chance to sit with friends who were already seated and had ordered. The staff was super accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are plenty of places to be seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the breakfast burrito bowl and a scramble with kale. The food was delivered promptly. We were even offered refills on our coffees to go.

This was our second visit to W&F, with our last visit maybe 6 years ago. We visited on Father's Day weekend so the crowds were already packed by 11am. The wait itself to be seated was 10 minutes. The host at the front seemed to be either having a bad day, or was improperly suited for that position. After we got the text that we were ready to be seated, we had to almost "bother" him to get him to notice us. Once we got to our table, the menu jumped out and we knew we had to share a Sky's the Limit. We placed our order, and then we proceeded to wait 40 minutes for our food to be brought out to us. Another couple seated before us ended up walking out as their food never arrived. While the wait itself was bad, once our food arrived we were able to finally enjoy the place we had remembered from years prior. My big complaint was that the bacon for our meal arrived entirely overcooked, almost burned to a crisp, and was not edible. We had to flag down another server to help take care of this for us, and while the replacement bacon came out right away, it too wasn't great. Maybe bacon just isn't their strong suit? The waiter for our table also seemed to disappear after our order arrived, which was a bummer, but it did not distract us enough from the quality of our meal. The biscuit was perfect. The chewy and tender mix was exactly what we wanted and overall made for the highlight of the meal. The Blackberry custard French toast was also the perfect amount of sweet paired with the meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, tables do seem to be scrunched together. It is not a big place after all, so just be mindful of where you sit. I ended up losing count of the number of times my feet were bumped, and my right shoulder/arm tapped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All those issues aside, we enjoyed our visit and will return again. Maybe the fault was with us for being there while on Father's Day, but that was unplanned. Overall, good food (minus the bacon) and good way to end our vacation.

The food was excellent, and the service was just as wonderful! I absolutely loved the homemade cinnamon Pop-Tart, and the French toast was divine! There are so many delicious options on the menu, and some dishes are definitely large enough to share. Overall, great food, great service, and a wonderful dining experience. I'll definitely be back!

I have never ate breakfast or lunch here but the cinnamon roll is SOOO GOOD!! The cinnamon roll is nontraditional as it comes looking like a cake slice and the frosting is dripped over the sides. The roll itself is so fluffy and even with it sitting on the counter for a few hours (it was already 3pm when I picked up the roll.) It was still so fresh, the frosting tasted like it had just been whipped with cream cheese and it wasn't dry at all. The server stated to place it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds but it honestly didn't need to be warmed because it was so fresh, perfectly balanced and just the right amount of cinnamon. Yes, it was $8 but it was so worth the price tag given I ate the roll for two days and it was still great. The sides were a little hard on day two but it was sitting out.

We had such a great time here! While visiting on vacation, we stumbled across this spot thanks to Yelp and I'm so glad we did. It was absolutely jumping for Saturday brunch. We waited about 30 to 40 minutes, but it was well worth it and there wasn't an empty seat in the house, which is always a good sign. Our table ordered a little bit of everything, but my favorites were the spiked chai, the churro waffle (my first and now I'm hooked), plus a side of fruit and bacon. Let me tell you, the bacon was SO good. Thick cut, slightly sweet, almost candied but not overly so, just perfect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One surprise was that there isn't a bar, which I didn't expect for such a lively brunch spot, but honestly it didn't take away from the experience at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff and service were phenomenal, friendly, attentive, and kept the energy going despite how busy it was. This place is definitely a must try if you're in the area!

Popped in here around 11:00 AM for brunch and got the last 4 top inside. Big standout was all the staff were on top of it, accommodating and friendly. I do wish they offered a kid's menu, but my kids split the French toast and it was a good sized portion. They just had a hard time agreeing on one dish. I got the short rib Benedict which was amazing. My hubby got chilaquiles and it was also really tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor was good, vibe was a little loud and the there was only 1 bathroom-toilet for both men/women.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On top of it the bathroom didn't lock which made an awkward situation happen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Our group made a slight detour on our way home from California to stop here, because I remembered them having fantastic cinnamon rolls that I had tried a few years back. And they did not disappoint! Even after being left in the fridge for a few days, they heated up beautifully and tasted delicious (still moist with yummy cream cheese frosting). My only qualm is that they are not prepared onsite (a bakery delivers them), so you can't get extra frosting. The counter service was wonderful though. The employee who helped us gave us helpful heating instructions and included silverware to-go for our whole party. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were comfy chairs to sit in near the front while we waited for our order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was on the second floor of the outdoor mall, so it was a bit hard to find.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love this place! I've been here multiple times. The breakfast is always fresh and delicious. The service is great too. There is always a wait to get in, but they are very efficient at getting people in and out, so it's never really a problem. Definitely recommend it if you are in the area!

Yes the biscuits are worth coming for!

Our friend said we need to go for the biscuits and we loved them. The 6 of us ordered a variety - am omelette, a salad with strawberries, a couple scrambles and a waffle. Everything es delicious, definitely the biscuits!

Stop the car !!!!! We shared everything... we ordered : Sky's the limit Eggs Bacon (thick cut and cooked perfectly) Sausage (standout) Biscuit (this was also excellent) French toast Hash browns And our water (Jonny) recommended the cinnamon roll , we reluctantly ordered ! Omg he was soooooo right ..:life changing ! I must shout from the rooftops ?! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was AMAZING ![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I harassed the patrons who were walking in ... ORDER THE CINNAMON ROLL!!! It was Just the PERFECT amount of sweet and savory !!!

I heard this place was a great breakfast spot, however it was lunchtime when I arrived, so I ordered their burger. They noted the burger patty was made with ground chuck and short rib meat and I was eager to give it a try. Because the patty is on the larger side, I was told it would take about 20 minutes to cook. We weren't in a hurry so that was fine with us. The burger arrived and looked very juicy, but the taste was underwhelming. It lacked flavor and the meat was not as tender as I imagined it would be. This location is in an outside mall with indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were very kind and attentive. I would like to come back and try their breakfast as some of the other guests had breakfast platters that looked really good.

Ask the Community - Wilma & Frieda's Cafe

    Elevator or escalator?

I believe there are both elevators and escalators at the shops on El Paseo

Is there outdoor dining set up with heaters at the Palm Desert restaurant during the winter season?

    Yes, absolutely.

    Do they take reservations?

Hi Dahlia, For brunch we are on a first come first serve basis. We do take reservations for dinner…

Hi! Do you guys offer bottomless mimosas still? How much is it?

Hi Angela, we do not offer this. However our neighbors at Brickworks, Pinocchio’s and Zin bistro in Palm Springs do.

    Do you guys take reservstions?

We take reservations for dinner at our Palm Springs location. For brunch service at both locations we are on a first come first serve basis.

    Open for memorial day?

Yes we are open 9:30-2 at PS and PD 8am-2

Do they have a kids size churro waffle?

No I’m afraid we only have one size waffle.

Says online opens at 8am for take out is that still true?

    I am not sure.

Are small dogs allowed outdoor dining ? Planning vacation outings . Thank you

Yes dogs are allowed at both locations on patio. I have taken my dog, and on other occasions as recent as two weeks ago seen dogs there on a leash.

Do you guys offer bottomless mimosas on saturdays?

Hi, no we do not have bottomless mimosa’s. You might try Pinocchio’s for them. Thank you for thinking of us.

Is the to go menu the same menu when dining in?p on Easter in Palm Desert?

Hi! Yes we are open for Easter Sunday 8am-3pm. Unfortunately we have had to discontinue carry out. Our kitchen is very small and we are not able to accommodate the dine in orders along with carry out. Thank you very much for thinking of us.

How far is the walk from the parking lot and is there an elevator that leads to the second floor where you are located ? I want to bring someone who cannot walk long distances or stairs

Both have elevators. Palm D. has an escalator, but you can park on 2nd floor and walk 150 feet from handicap parking.

Do we have to make reservations for the weekend?

Hi Dina, we are in a first come first serve basis for brunch. I’d there is a wait we take your name and cell number and text when your table is ready. In our Palm Springs location we are open from 5-9 Thu-Sat for dinner and we do take dinner…

Will you be open Easter Sunday? If so, what hours? Will you take reservations?

Hi Shannon, Yes we will be open from 9am-3pm at both locations.…

Are you open for outdoor dining again?

Yes our El Paseo store is open daily from 9-1pm for outdoor dining. Our a Palm Springs location will reopen, Friday Feb 5th. Thank you for thinking of us!

Is there still outside seating or only takeout?

We are only open for take out, but there are seats and tables in the center where people are enjoying their meals.

We can't get through to your PD location and door dash is also saying you're closed. Really confused as to what's going on and if we can even support your business?

Hi Christian, I am so sorry we have missed you. Our PD location is open daily from 9am-1pm. Were you calling after those hours maybe? Let me know and I will look into this further. I so appreciate you supporting our business. (More than you…

Is there a better phone number to call to place an order? We have been trying to call for over 2 hours and each time we received an "All Circuits are busy" message.

The best number to call is 760 773-2807 for Palm Desert and 760 992-5080 for Palm Springs. These numbers are connected to two other lines. I will check to see if there is an issue

How are you operating during COVID-19?

We are open daily from 9am - 1pm at our Palm Desert location. We have patio dining, as well as carry out or delivery.…

Does the palm desert location do pick up drinks to go?

    Yes, 9am - 1pm daily

Golf course was closed but we were still able to see it. It's a big property. Lots to do. Do like they allow dogs since we had ours. They had multiple pools which we liked. We didn't use it but near one. Neither one looked too busy which was nice. Once we got settled into our room we went to go see Pinz and Pints since they had arcade games, including a duckpin bowling. My son was really excited about that. When we went they had a complimentary drink and candy bar. Drinks they offer are limited but still decent. We did get some food there as well. We got their nachos, Mac and cheese, and chicken tenders for my son. Both the nachos and Mac and cheese were really good. Love nachos and wanted to keep eating them. The next morning we went for breakfast at Pinzimini. They have a buffet option and also have a standard breakfast menu to choose items from. My husband got their brioche French toast and I selected to do their buffet. I know he liked the French toast. I liked the items offered in their buffet. They had a mix of mini pastries, cooked items, fruit. I primarily stuck with their pastries and fruit. Overall it was a nice location. Golf course is big. The resort fee also felt hard to justify. The included amenities did not seem to match the extra charge. The two complimentary drinks were limited to Truly canned drinks or a small pour of hard lemonade or iced tea, which felt underwhelming for a resort of this caliber. We did enjoy the range balls, but as early risers, I would have appreciated access to the spa or pool earlier in the morning. Unfortunately, the room itself left a lot to be desired. The bed sheets had what looked like an oil or grease stain, the closet door was broken, and the overall furnishings and finishes felt worn and dated rather than well maintained. This is very much a family resort, so that is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Even at the adults-only Paloma Pool, children were jumping into the water and splashing guests' drinks while parents appeared unconcerned. That made it difficult to relax in what was supposed to be a peaceful setting. On a positive note, the entrance walkway, lobby, and open-air courtyard are beautiful and make for a strong first impression. Unfortunately, that charm does not extend to the guest rooms, which are clearly in need of a refresh.
