I took my new to me old multi-disk desktop CD player in for service following the recommendation of other stereo shops in Tucson. I suggested he was a guy who looked forward to a challenge and with a smile he then went to work and was able to remove the two jammed up CD's from inside within 5 minutes. Formerly reliable. Just had someone else repair a "fixed" multi-channel amp that had a crushed wire; not tested by the technician before returning it to me. I hadn't powered it on since the repair and it immediately failed. New tech said wire was crushed during re-assembly; also felt I had been vastly overcharged per the notes on the Hi-Fi Workshop receipt. New owner probably did the former repair. read more

I have a Bose Music System IV my husband gifted to me a couple of years ago; as he passed in 2025, listening to music on that system has left me with some wonderful memories! I started to have issues with it recently, and after calling around to see who fixed these system, I found that Bose no longer made them. I found Heavy Rotation who said they did have someone who worked on this type of system; I dropped it off a few days later. When I took my 2 receivers in he told me he was very busy and it could be up to 6 or 8 weeks. Fine, no problem. Please, let me know...[[HIGHLIGHT]]12 weeks later I stopped in and he said he had called weeks ago but it was my cell phone was busy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My cell phone works just fine and I have it with me 24/7 for health reasons. He added that he doesn't want to even work on one of the receivers because it is just too much work but, he could work on the other. 12 weeks I waited, thinking I was doing him a favor because of his work load. After researching it appeared that Hi-Fi Workshop was one of the only vintage stereo repair/sales places in Tucson. I went in to see what they had for sale, and left with a receiver, turntable, and speakers. Justin was amazing! So patient and helpful. He stopped whatever he was working on as soon as I came in, and spent nearly 45 minutes answering my dumb questions, and showing me what they had in stock. He even rearranged things in the store just to let me hear a system play a record before I ever agreed to buy anything! Hi-Fi Workshop takes customer service to the next level of "phenomenal"!!! My home theater subwoofer needed repair. After calling around, I finally reached John at Hi-Fi Workshop. I liked his style from the start. As such, I took it in for repair. A couple of days later, I received a call from John, informing me that the equipment was beyond repair. He gave me a quote to build one for me, but before doing so, he suggested that I shop around to make sure that I would be getting the best value for my hard earned cash. That impressed me! So, I requested that he build one. When I took it home, I had some questions about my receiver. I called John and he spent almost 40 minutes on the phone with me, assisting me with my questions. This is really the only comprehensive workshop for stereo and even vintage turntable repair, but since John and Justin are so honest and helpful and also reasonable, I'd recommend simply buying directly from them, if you're looking for quality WORKING second hand audio equipment. I have an Infinity DSP Switching Amplifier, this was the first Hi-Fi digital amp, they were high end and few were built in the late 70's iirc less than 200. Schematics were never public, neither any service manual. It was working OK until few weeks ago, well almost perfect, it produced a low humming sound when no input was fed but it was hard to hear, but one day I could not get any more power. Knowing the age, design and no schematics I was very skeptical that I could ever have it running again. I live not too far from Tucson so I searched for places that repair High End Audio and after visiting few places one of them told me to go to the Hi-Fi store. John (owner) , took his time and find out the initial problem (no power) and also told me that he found another area that he could repair to get the amp back to "normal". Today I took the amplifier home, price was more than reasonable, I just hooked it into the system and not only works but also the humming that I noticed before the no-power event (btw I never told John about it, he found it) is gone. You can not believe how happy I am, not only this great and unique amp is working again (kind of a collector's piece) but the cost was so minimal. John works in any piece of Hi-Fi. What a great place this is! I didn't have repair work done, but only because Jason helped me figure out what I thought was a dying CD carousel player. He said my symptoms were odd for a player and advised me on doing some more trouble shooting. It wasn't the player, but rather an old patch cord.
