This is, without a doubt, the best auto repair shop in Hillsborough County...and I've been to many of them. We have four vehicles and each has over 100K miles so we are, unfortunately, fairly regular customers. Hi Tech will see us on very short notice, the work is always done right the first time, and prices are incredibly reasonable. Here's an example, last week just before Thanksgiving my Toyota Sienna developed an intermittent electrical problem. Hi Tech got me in the repair queue on very short notice. Because it was only 30 minutes before closing I had to leave the vehicle overnight and for various reasons, I would have to wait about two hours to get a ride home from family. When the owner heard that, he personally drove me 15 miles home to my neighborhood. Beat that service at your local dealer. P.S. Problem diagnosed and fixed the next day before lunch. Bad Battery which was under warranty but they didn't even charge me for labor to diagnose and replace. read more

I have been taking both of my cars to Hi-Tech for over 1.5 years to support a local business. This last time I took my car because there was a neon green liquid leak. I called them, spoke to Becky, and she opened a slot for me to take the car in for an inspection and maintenance since it has been awhile. I also told her the brakes were squeaky, wipers have to be replaced, and to let me know if anything else needs to be done. I wanted to take care of all of these in one visit. I dropped the car off on Tuesday, they were going to look at it on Wednesday, and possible pick up on Thursday. On Wednesday, they called me and said that they don't see anything, no leaks, and that they will have another specialist look at it and will call me back before end of day. It's 5pm, so I called since no one called me and they said that they did not get a chance to look at it but will do it first thing in the morning (Thursday). Becky call me on Thursday around noon to let me know that they looked at it and nothing is wrong with the car. However, someone hit the car in their parking lot (not sure if it was one of their employees). I asked for more information on how it happened but they were scrambling around to get me answers. No one knew what happened, no one knew who was inspecting out the car, it was complete chaos. Becky promised to cover the cost of my visit and to fix the fender bender but it will be ready for pickup on Monday (she told me this on Thursday). I told her it was fine and, again, asked that everything was inspected (wipers, brakes, tire rotation, etc) and again, Becky said yes, they had to replace the wipers but everything else was good. They covered the cost of the wipers and the fender bender. On Monday, I show up to pick up the car. Becky drives the car from the lot across from them to the front door. I started driving away and after a minute I notice the AC is not working. I had to bring it back and they inspected it and, magically, find the neon green leak. So this tells me that no one actually worked on the car nor inspected it to make sure the AC was working. They told me it will be $850 to fix it. I told Becky that she told me that she was going to cover the cost of my visit but she insisted that she was just talking about the $30 dollar wipers and the fender bender that happened in their property. I took it to this place since I was trying to support a local business instead of taking it to my normal place, Nissan. After my visit with Hi-Tech, I called Nissan to inspect the car because I lost all of my trust in HI-Tech. My mechanic that I've known for years at Nissan confirmed that the tires were not rotated, brakes were worn out, transmission fluid was to be replaced, among other things. So again, why wasn't this done at Hi-Tech? were they trying to get out of covering the cost of these items since they promised to pay for my visit? It is very shady. The service at this place has gone down tremendously. Apparently, the guy who calls you to pick up the car when ready, is not the guy that works on the car. Because I showed up, asked for him, and he said he needs to go look for the person that worked on the car. Becky also didn't know. I talked to about 4 different people and they didn't know who worked on the car. They had my car for over a week to only find that wipers needed to be replaced. That's ridiculous. I will not go back to this place and I will warn everyone I know to not go to this place. read more

Finding an automotive mechanic that you like, trust and know is fair on pricing and who consistently does a great job fixing your vehicles is hard to do. I'm writing this review for everyone out there who wants to avoid getting scammed or ridiculously up-charged by a big auto mechanic chain owned by a rich guy who lives on his 80 foot yacht and never has to look his customers directly in the eye and shake their hands. My Kia Sedona broke down and wouldn't hold a charge even though we had replaced the alternator twice and battery once. We had to have the car towed to a shop so I did some research and Hi tech got rave reviews on my neighborhood Facebook page. We decided to call them. They towed our car to the shop and said they would included the tow in the bill. I am always hesitant of mechanics because they have a bad reputation for scamming and overcharging customers. I am happy to say this is not the case with Hi tech. They worked so hard to figure out the problem and order the part. When the part was wrong they even researched nearby junkyards to find the part for a fraction of the cost. The bill was a fraction of what I had imagined also and we left happy customers. I have been using Hi-tech auto for many years now. Joe and the crew do a great job and the best part is that they are super honest. Unlike other shops, they don't get paid to create issues. They get paid to find and fix the issue you have. I have had several friends come here on my recommendation and all of them have said that Joe and the mechanics were kind, honest and professional. You can have "Good", Fast, Cheap".... pick two.... Unless you go to Hi-Tech... then you get to pick Zero.... ( the number "0" ) These guys did a huge repair on a old truck. ($1500 repair).. that in hind sight was not needed. Plus:Plus.. The engine ran like crap ( it sounded like a motor boat) after they rebuild the cylinder head too. the original problem was that : I noticed a little smoke coming out of the tail pipe, and only at start up.. the repair was to rebuild the whole damn top end... $over 1500.... And the whole truck was only worth $1000.00. Therefore I was not happy with the big bill on my old truck, and chanrging a huge price. And I dont make a lot of money... I would have like'ed the service adviser to let me know.. He sould have said " Hey, I wouldn't throw away 1500 buck on a old 1000 truck." They probably will remember me, I was the guy who complained about the nuts, and bolts they lost when the reinstalled the cylinder head, and the air-cleaner. ( 1997 Nissan Pick up). Conclusion: You can have "Good", Fast, Cheap".... pick two. So, it actually Ran Worst than it did before they worked on it...so thats not good. ( and they could have said...Mr Smith, you really will not get any thing out of this repair... Fast...it took longer than they said.. (over a week) so thats not Fast..... and Cheap... nope... not cheap, they charge 100 dollars an hour like most garages this days. so it was 1500 dollars, no including the rental car for over a week. So The action I would want the Reader ,and the Next customer to take would be to ask or think about: 1.Will this be, or does it have the Potential to be a "Good Repair" ? ( will the car run better or worst, after the repair? ) 2. How long will this take? the repair...In this case, it took over a week? 3. Ask for a estimate, and relise its going to be 75 to 100 dollars an hour for one mechanic, plus parts... really adds up. ( people I know make less that 1/5 th that much). Spence read more

Moved here recently and had to leave our trusted mechanic of 20 years so we were nervous about finding a mechanic. We were so lucky that we were referred here. They are honest and did great work. We also had to drop in for a tire repair that they did for no charge, wouldn't accept any payment. Great crew and would recommend them to anyone. This business is another unfortunate example that a handshake and a person's word just doesn't mean what it used to. I was very disappointed with my experience at Hi Tech Automotive. I took my truck there after purchasing it primarily because it had a brake warning light on. 3 weeks later I was charged $3000 dollars and got back a truck with a brake warning light on. Not only that but my dashboard was broken into pieces, the stereo no longer worked, and the "new" A/C they installed made a loud squeaking noise when I turned it on. I have no stereo and get cold air with a headache. Not to mention my steering wheel wasn't put back on straight so I have to lean to the left to see what speed I am travelling at. It clearly states on my invoice that "vehicle is leaving with a brake light on dash. Instructed customer we will call when part is in and Hi Tech will handle the problem." It has almost been a month now and I haven't gotten that call. This is not how you treat customers.... read more

I took my 1998 Toyota Camry in for a routine oil check. The car has less then 100,000 miles on it and ran perfectly fine up until this routine oil check. I have taken my car to them on several occasions without any issues in the past. When I took it in they told me I had an oil leak, was a surprise to me as I wasn't leaving oil stains anywhere prior to them changing my oil. I never had a reason to doubt them so I let them take a further look. They came back and told me that my valve cover gasket needed to be replaced. I let them replace it and then when I got it back I began leaking oil pretty quickly, about 3 quarts every 2 weeks. I did not trust taking my car back to them as I had begun to hear people not happy with their service anymore. It used to be a good shop but now it seems they have gotten extremely lazy and I had to pay over $200 for them to give me an oil leak when I never had one to begin with. Now I am stuck trying to find a reliable mechanic that I can trust again. read more
