We had a hole situation with them. A few minutes later, there was a shirtless boy who picked up my eight year-old cousin. He was yelling NO NO NO! So the boy threw him. Staff did nothing about it. This is ridiculous. Tried joining a parade. Kathy said she saw us go on 2 wheels. If we did we would have flipped over on golf cart. We didn't. I will say don't go here and don't waste your money. Their office is has friendly staff to help you check in and out, serve ice cream, and they also have plenty else for sale including swimwear, camping gear, etc. The summer weather certainly made for some thunderstorms and a mix between partly cloudy and outright scary weather, but the camp staff was nimble and allowed for the kids to play in the pool and lake as long as there were no nearby thunderstorms, so they just had to take a break anytime the weather started moving in. We had not planned to come here, but didn't have a great experience elsewhere and located this place at the last minute. Somehow they had plenty of excess capacity and we were able to get a couple spots up front. Unfortunately, anytime another RV came in between our travel trailer and the office, our Wi-Fi would not work. To get around that, we just went outside and found a place within line of site to the office and it worked fine. The last night we were there, we moved our rigs down to right next to the lake where we could watch the kids playing on the huge inflatable things in the lake and the Wi-Fi down there was excellent.

So hands down we had the WORST EXPERIENCE trying to stay some where else today, a place we booked months in advance when planning this trip. So rather than beat ourselves, our camper, and truck into submission we called it a day and left. I called Jellystone it was less than 10 miles away, and they had openings. So I walked in the door and must have been a delightful hot mess, I think the very sweet woman behind the counter took massive pity on me and I am GRATEFUL!!!! She tried to give us the best site in the place, but when I advised we didn't have kids, she totally heard my brain and was like let me get you to a more quiet area of the park. With staff like this its easy to see why people come here and choose to come back. We are only here for a night but for the money and btw was completely reasonable you GET OH SO MUCH!!! This place is very resort like and I'm sure by design. If you have kids I don't think you can go wrong with Jellystone. We didn't use the facilities or playgrounds or pools but this place is not lacking entertainment for everyone of every age. And most people seem pretty respectful of quiet hours. I will say that the only mildly bad was the sites seem pretty stacked on one another : ( The sweet lady from the front desk knew me so well that she even came and checked on us and let me play with her therapy pup when she came back after work to walk her dog. That is what you call SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

That's what happened to us with Happy Acres! Originally we were scheduled to stay for one night but at the last minute had to change to four and the staff was wonderful about accommodating our request. Check in was a breeze with confirmation emails, informative texts leading up to our arrival and when we finally got there our registration packet was waiting for us by the office door. Our site (#71) was super easy to get to and was a pull through which was mostly level for our 33' trailer. I spoke with two staff members; one over the phone when I had to change my reservation (Matt?) and another (Sidney?) when I stopped by their very cute camp store to buy a couple of shirts and they were both extremely pleasant and polite. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is also a pool and dog park on site. The only negative we found was the very loud, ever present road noise. Happy Acres is right alongside highway 69 which makes it super convenient to access but noisy. Luckily we were running out AC or fans every night which mostly drowned it out. We work remotely from our camper and both our Verizon and TMobile signals were very strong. However TMobile was the speed test winner regularly showing d/l speeds of 200+ mbps. We come to the Midwest every year or two and Happy Acres will definitely be on our list of campgrounds to revisit. We heard that they are expanding the # of campsites towards the back of their property and if they are full hookup we will be sure to try to book one of those. Thanks Happy Acres!!!

The Tobaggan run definitely makes them stand out from other Indiana state parks as one of the more winter-friendly destinations. It was certainly hopping during our chilly January visit. Given the park's popularity, I was surprised at how much TLC the inn could use. The nature center is fairly simple but worth a visit. They have a trail that runs out the back door and easy parking. You'll also find Nordic skiing trails, homes along the lake and a simple restaurant at the inn. The toboggan run was a hit with our four year old. I cheered overhead with our two year old and I have to say that watching is quite enjoyable as well

But this year was our worst experience and we will not be going back. We reserved 4 of the basic cabins, along with a campsite. We all arrived Friday night. By Saturday morning each of our cabins toilets were clogged. We tried everything to unclog them. By Saturday night we had poo (yes extremely gross!!) coming out of the bathroom sink every time we flushed. The campground knew about the problem but did not call in anyone to fix the issue until Monday (one of the staff told us it was more expensive to have the repair done on the weekend!). On top of that one of the cabins coffee pots was missing the inside plastic filter. The family in that cabin had to just put the paper filter in the basket and hope it would make coffee. They were accused of stealing it when they checked out and the cabin was inspected. When they said it was like that when they arrived the staff at the front desk said no way and you owe us $20. When our family member said he would contest the charges they said "well we will just charge you another $20" and they actually promptly did that! My family member is now disputing the second charge with their credit card company. But just last night they got a threatening email from the campground saying they would turn them into collections if they didn't also pay for the fees associated with the contested charges plus any other fees! I know from being a business owner that it is totally illegal to charge a customer's credit card without their permission. That second charge was illegal, and even though they took it off within 24 hours, it doesn't change the fact that their staff did something illegal. Beware of this campground's practices. They do not care about customer service.
