Where to begin. Back in the day - 80's, this place was the bomb for pizza. When I moved back to town in 2017, I had to have my wife try it. Well, things changed for sure. Cheap ingredients, I slice of pepperoni per square of pizza. The "cuts" were undercooked and cold when I got it. I've tried it again since and got much of the same. very disappointed with the customer service. I wanted to like it. The pizza is VERY good. Been there 4 times and even brought a friend to try because the pizza was so good. Unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to continue to patronize this shop anymore no matter how good the food is. Every single time the owners/managers are rude and unprofessional. Always in a bad mood. Complaining about being over and sick of each other to customers they don't even know. They don't say hello or thank you. They just give you a look holding their pen and pad to take your order. I don't like the negative vibe you get as soon as you walk in the door. Always loved this place but lately dough is hit or miss and sauce is sometimes really heavy! Sometimes the dough is much thicker than it used to be and sometimes undercooked. When the dough and sauce proportions are normal, the pizza is great! When it's not, it's mediocre. read more

Okay, here's the deal. To the vast majority of locals, Hi-Way Pizza is awesome. It brings back great memories, the smell makes our mouths water, and the taste just those you back to high school parties. That said, I have yet to find someone who didn't grow up with it who likes it. The pizza is simple. Rectangle cuts of pizza on a soft yeasty crust, tons of cheese and one pepperoni slice on each cut. This has been what has kept them in business for 40 years. You can buy individual cups of canned mushrooms and hot peppers for .90 cents apiece. In recent years, they have expanded their menu to include wings, strombolis, subs and cheesesteaks, but their original pizza is what most people crave. Why 4 stars instead of 5? They don't take Credit or Debit cards. Typically I do not patronize business that don't. This is the one exception, AND they actually have a sign that says "Stop! We do not accept Credit/Debit cards" right on the front door. The wait. When they are busy, you can wait 45 minutes or so to get your pizza. They make everything from scratch, so once again this is easily overlooked. The service. The owner is a wonderful polite man. He is just the nicest person you could ask for. The lady who's been there for years, not as much. She is always cranky irritable and downright rude at times. I understand that yes, it is hot there, but everyone else is nice, she can be too. To sum up. Great for locals who grew up with it, chancy for imports or people new to the area. read more

My wife's family is from this area, and I can remember the first time I had Hi Way Pizza when visiting the area. My wife said something to the effect of, "oh, we have to go get Hi Way Pizza" I said, "oh, ok. Is it really good?" "I wouldn't go that far" she replied. I truthfully think the pizza is tasty. Like, how the pizza was tasty in the roller skating rink where you had your sixth birthday party. You know, nostalgic but not necessarily really good? Yeah, like that. This is a pizza staple in Philipsburg! Delicious pizza that can be ordered by the slice or in a round pie. They have also greatly expanded their menu with many other options ranging from Stromboli to wings. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

April 7 I ordered a stromboli and how are you to know if your order is messed up unless you eat some of it. I called in and I complained about it. The owner was the one to answer the phone. He was very cocky when saying the order was messed up. He asked with an attitude well how do you want me to fix it. I said make a new one. Then he said bye and hung up on me. When I went in and asked for the owner. Asked who picked up the phone he said me. Right off the bat he then started giving me a attitude again. I said you were totally disrespectful on the phone and now. They made a new one and as I was trying to be civil he kept running his mouth. By then he peeved me off, then I said keep the d*** thing. He tells me to just get the f*** out as I walked out. I'm like well since your being a d*** about it now I'm never ordering from here again. read more
