I had surgery yesterday and everyone on the 2nd floor was absolutely amazing. The professionalism, care, and attention exceeded my expectations and especially with Yolaine and Gina. Yolaine brought my medications on time, made sure I wasn't in excruciating pain and walked with me. She is really a gem and can't thank her enough . Javier from the nutritionist department was a blessing as well and helpful with what I could eat. An administrative staff would come by the room and ask how they were treating me and If she needed anything. They provided the highest level of care and compassion. read more

Seems that the hospital's administrators have never heard of Home Depot. Do they know what a broom, pressure washer and paint are?? This review is on how the hospital looks, the way the parking lot is falling apart and what my mom's room looked like. The staff, over all, was very nice but really, can you please clean up this hospital?? Plus, with how much they charge for parking, surely they can afford a can of paint. La PEOR experiencia del mundo la pasamos cuando este "doctor" Luis Javier Victores (Gastroenterologo) le hizo una Endoscopia (con biopsy) y Colonoscopia a mi mama SIN ANESTESIA... mi mama estuvo todo el tiempo de los procedimientos DESPIERTA Y ALERTA..... La enfermera cuando la estaba preparando le dijo "piensa en algo bonito cuando te esten haciendo el procedimiento porque vas a estar sedada pero no dormida..." supuestamente durante el procedimiento la iban a sedar (no anestesia general pero un sedante que la durmiera por completo) pero ella estuvo todo el tiempo DESPIERTA, el "doctor" hablando con ella de mala forma. Varias veces mi mama le dijo que tenia dolor y no le importo y siguio con el procedimiento, hasta una biospis del estomago le hicieron A SANGRE FRIA.... Desde el principio, la atención fue pésima, 4 horas esperando. Es increíble lo poco profesional que es, es mas, ese lugar donde le hicieron el procedimiento (Hialeah Hospital) es una CARNICERIA Y EL DOCTOR UN CARNICERO!!! Mi mama tiene 72 años, es hipertensa y le han hecho ya 2 cateterismos (o sea, ella es HIGH RISK PATIENT)... No se toman el tiempo para explicar los procedimientos de manera clara. Además, el tiempo de espera es interminable, nunca se respeta el horario de la cita/procedimiento. La consulta se siente apresurada, sin empatía ni interés real en el paciente. Le di una estrella porque si no, no me permitian poner el comentario, pero en realidad es ZERO ESTRELLAS. Definitivamente no lo recomiendo a nadie, BUSQUEN OTRO ESPECIALISTA. Mi familiar fue internado le hicieron cirugía tenía dolor, después de la cirugía no hubo nadie al pendiente para tomarle los signos vitales, ni para cambiarle nada, el cuarto muy sucio, apenas llegué yo tuve que ponerme guantes y recoger la suciedad del piso, después de dos horas le empezó a dar dolor aviso a las enfermeras exactamente se hicieron 8 llamadas, nadie se apareció hasta después de 30 minutos con suero pero nada para el dolor, paso una hora y seguían sin administrarle la medicina. Esto es una broma deberían ser más serios y contratar personal más responsable. A parte la enfermera haciendo preguntas tontas como y que cree que le causa el dolor? Went to the ER today being that I became sick and my symptoms were pointing to pneumonia or walking pneumonia. Upon being called to the back where they ask you questions , give you your hospital band, etc I was greeted by a nurse with a smirk on her face, almost as if she was on the verge of laughter from the very moment she laid eyes on me. I brushed it off and began to explain my symptoms besides the obvious ones I placed on my sign in sheet which were chest pain and shortness of breath . As I'm explaining she's still giving me the same "I'm ready to laugh" face. Then proceeds to act as if she couldn't understand what I was saying.. when I was just stating CLEARLY "I became sick a few days ago it begin with a sore throat followed by shortness of breath and when I go to vomit nothing but a brown Mucus like thing came out" and I stated when I googled my symptoms it said pneumonia. As I'm further trying to finish explaining ALL my symptoms she keeps interrupting acting like I'm not speaking clearly or something... still with the look on her face (mind you I have shortness of breath and pain if I over do it so I have no choice but to speak slower) ! The doctor who came in shortly interrupted her and ME ( while trying to tell all my symptoms even though she's acting like I'm speaking another language ) he asks me when did it start, I tell him three days ago and try to tell him all my symptoms as well. However he rudely interrupts me and insinuates that I'm saying my pain was three days ago when I was literally answering HIS very own question of when did it START and trying to tell ALL my symptoms being that he interrupted me and the nurses conversation .. the nurse then chimes in interrupting HIM, literally LAUGHING telling him "it's not chest pain, it's not chest pain". So I asked her what was funny and how does she know it's not chest pain when they haven't even checked me yet ? When I asked what was funny I didn't get an answer or reassurance from her nor the doctor...... he just told me I left me head phone on the seat...... I genuinely feel like they saw a black woman with a complaint of chest pain and tried to make me feel like I was over exaggerating or lying!!!! Which is not new for doctors towards my race !!! I have never witnessed a nurse laughing and telling a doctor what i said is untrue while in my face. They were both very comfortable interrupting one another and as I stated the doctor did not even bother to correct her or give reassurance even after I asked what was funny . This happened TOFAY on May 19th 2024 between THE HOURS 11AM-12PM. I was not able to get the nurses name because I left out before even seeing it and upon my grand mother going back inside to get their information she didn't give hers but the doctor slapped his badge up told my grandmother to take a picture (sarcastic, right) well here it is below . Until about 4 years ago I used to come to the gynecologist here. I started having severe pain in my right ovary area. I went for a check up with ultrasound but they said nothing was wrong with me. Two weeks later I was in a lot of pain and looked like I was 6 months pregnant. They did the complete same check up and said nothing was wrong with me and I was just a little constipated. I already left a review for Vitas hospice care in Hialeah hospital and their awful, inhumane practices. All I can say is, stay far away from Vitas hospice and Hialeah Hospital. I don't know how my father is alive. My father was being transferred from Hialeah Hospital to a skilled nursing facility. Miami Dade Ambulance transfer works/ is contracted by Hialeah hospital. They were transferring my dad; he went into respiratory failure; instead of sending him to Jackson South Emergency Hospital that was 10 minutes away from where they were, they transported him back to Hialeah hospital , which was 45 minutes to an hour away from where they were in Cutler Ridge. The ambulance company told me it was protocol to take him back to Hialeah hospital, because they are contracted with Hialeah hospital. Bottom line - it's all about the money. I don't know how my father survived, he is 89 years old, and suffering from global brain damage. I called the emergency at Hialeah hospital, and the nurses have less of a conscience and compassion, as that of an alligator. My dad is currently still hospitalized in Hialeah, and the doctor pressured me to put him back into the Vitas hospice at Hialeah, in which I fought so hard to save my dad and get him out from that hospice. Again this hospital, Vitas and their affiliates will do anything to keep patients in their den of thieves. The compassionate admissions director that I found that helped me get my dad out from Vitas and Hialeah hospital's evil grip helped me convince the doctor ,who is currently attending to my dad, agree to treat him and get him stabilized to be able to transfer back south close to me and my dad's family. I pray to God that my dad will be able to be reunited again with his family, and finally, will be able to be placed in a stable environment with a genuine, compassionate hospice provider, where he will be able ,finally, to rest in peace and transition with dignity when God calls him to come home. Please pray for my dad and for all patients who have been victims of these organizations. I plead for people to respond to me in my review that I made from Vitas to contact me, because their is strength in numbers to fight these evil corporations and their staff, but received no response. All I can say is -please- stay away from Vitas and Hialeah hospital!! These greedy companies will kill your loved ones if they have to for a profit - beware! Stay clear away from them - run !!! I have come here a few times for emergency situations as it is the closest to my house aside from Jackson and I just REFUSE to go there. Both times that I have come here for my own reasons, the experience wasn't too bad. The wait was short. I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seen. The last time I came they were so packed that I had to sit out in the hallways, however when it was time for them to give me my shot in my shoulder they did find a bed for me. I appreciated how they accommodated me when I needed to get an x-ray on my shoulder. Since I had my son and I was alone, we had to find a spot for him. Luckily they got an tech to sit with him in the monitor room (i suppose that's what you call it) and keep him occupied while I got my x-ray. Overall this hospital is okay. It could use some renovations. While it isn't my favorite, I'd certainly come here before I go to Jackson though! That's for sure. read more

First of all people where rude asf , I went there because of a mass that I have on my butt , nurses didn't even know what they where doing , and not even paying attention to me , when I asked questions they where silence . Second of all , they didn't know what I had and they were already putting medication . I went to the restroom for literally 5 seconds and when I came back there were a guy with a bill of $3000 and a computer for me to sign , how are u showing me a bill if I haven't got ANYTHING done . Well it is a shitty place and tbh I don't recommend it , there are places so much better , oh and of course I refuse all of it and went home . Super bad service. Either from the ER and hospital I Got there dehydrated, got there after a long night of trowing up and needed an iv because my stomach couldn't handle water. The nurse were super late with the iv I needed, she was asking shitloads of question while I couldn't speak and need hydratation ASP. After one hour or two I got my IV. after 3/4 hours of recovering I was able to drink water again and the staff was annoyed by my request of water all the time, I even got to get up and get it myself. I had to get surgery to have my gallbladder removed and I had the operation done at Hialeah Hospital. The only complaint I have is that I woke up in the middle of it... I looked down and saw them still working on me, and when they noticed I was awake, they freaked out and pumped me with more anesthetic until I fell back asleep. Needless to say, I was very upset with them when the operation was done. I understand that mistakes happen, but the doctor insisted that it was just a dream and that he had no idea what I was talking about! Never getting my gallbladder removed here again. read more

Horrid service ! Incompetent staff do not expect for doctors to contact you in order to discuss plan of care. Some nurses don't even speak English. No one takes ownership of their responsibility for their patients they just through the ball from one shift to the other with no adequate result in sight. My father was admitted on Sunday and it is Wednesday I have have yet to receive a phone call from a single doctor. I'm absolutely disappointed and I would never recommend this hospital. Liked then hated, and never coming again, EVER. I came in Wednesday to have my blood taken, & register so Friday it would be smooth sailing, to my surprise the staff was very friendly. I will be honest I judged the place becasue of its location... I figured I was in for a long day becasue I thought I was not going to be able to communicate with anyone since I do not know Spanish. However, they spoke English, not the best for some but enough to get by. I was instructed to go left, left, right and the first door to the left is the place to go. I got lost and asked for better instructions, still got nothing, I obviosuly looked lost becasue a couple employees stoppped to help me. Finally I made it to the office, which was at the front entrance next to the deli. Why couldn't they say that to begin with? Any who, I registered and set to go, and the registering guy tells me to be here at 6am. GREAT. Thursday I get a phone call to come in to register for tomorrows surgery... Um I already did. I crossed my fingers hoping everything would be smooth Friday. Friday, up at the crack of dawn which I have not seen in a few months, thankfully to a sleeping through the night baby! I go up to the designated area, and um it is dark no one around... THE PLACE IS CLOSED! We find this out becasue we asked a cleaning lady and she opened up the "authorized persoanle only" (haha) and my hubs walked in and almost immedat;y was surrounded asking why he was in there and etc. I give them that they are on top of that lol. We explain and the nurse stated she has no idea why they said 6am when they don't open until 630am. MAN I could have slept some more! She asked he got in and he said when the other nurse walked in, we didn't want to get the cleaning lady in trouble. So finally the place opens up, and I am getting ready. I get changed into surgery gear, and look at the TV and it states the pateints name, doctor, type of surgery, time called in, and time of surgery. Okay the place we are in is the pre-surgery area but still why the hell would I want every other pateint knowing what I am having done. What happened to HIPPA? Staff very friendly, helpful, calming. After surgery, I wanted out and back to my son. HOWEVER, they forgot to give me my shot (which I reminded them of) so they had to take my blood again, mind you I have been pricked 4 times now, and double check that I do have the blood type I am saying I do. Then they need to order the shot, give it to me and then give me instructions. They should have had this done and ready for me when I was done with surgery. I chit chatted with the staff who were friendly excpet for one... & that one got into a heated arguement as I was leaving to go home. It was an agruement over food. Eating around the pateints, and the place of where it was in the fridge. I mean honestly conduct yourselves professionally please. The agruement was so petty but entertaining at the same time lol. In the end I will never ever ever come here again, and wish my doctor was affliclated with another hospital becasue she is just wonderful! So now I am looking for another doc! :-( read more

This hospital is lacking human warmth within the nursing staff and other personnel. The nurses have enough time to chit chat among themselves but have no caring towards the patient /or the family. No one can give you a concrete/logical answer to a simple question. They are well known to say, " let me look at the chart". However, looking at the chart means you will never get an answer. Train your personnel with people skills. Cleanliness, what is that!!! The hospital is in desperate need of remodeling /or upgrading. We've been in 4 separate rooms, the blinds are broken or missing. The towels are beige/grey instead of white. The oxygen meter/device is broken and you have to wait until the respiratory therapist comes in. Mind you that the device cost $10-15, at a max. The one star was given bc of the awesome air conditioning unit that it has. It is great to catch pneumonia. It is also used to keep the patients that they kill with the unskilled nurses preserved. Hialeah Hospital get on it because you failed with a big fat "F". Best of luck to whoever comes next. read more

This is my second time to Hialeah Hospitals emergency room and I was surprised. I had always heard horror stories but both times have been without incident and the staff have been very attentive. The emergency room physician was receptive to the patients pain management needs. I am giving 3 stars because I work in the medical field and see areas of improvement where others wouldn't. Example if you are the nurse sent to take out blood and they are telling you that the patients veins are very fragile and difficult to get blood from why wouldn't you just start with the butterfly needle. Why make the patient suffer through multiple stabs on different veins. This is common in every hospital so I can't blame them. Just depends on the nurse or lab tech u get. Other than that I have to say pleasantly surprised at how staff goes out of their way to make the patient laugh and feel at ease. read more

My grandfather came here because his diabetes became uncontrollable. Not my first pick of hospitals. This has been a horrible experience. The floor is loud, the nurses don't do anything but sit and talk and scream across the hall. There is no type of patient care. The hospital is old equipment is even older. I went to pick up my father's cellphone today and guess what, they told me it wasn't there in 4th floor nurse station and instructed me to call security department which I did, only to be told by a security officer who answered the phone that they did not have it either, so They kept the inguinal hernia support undergarment and the cell phone. Visited this hospital today after waking up with contractions coming strong!! Panicked and decided to go to to the closet hospital although I'm scheduled to deliver in 3 days at a different hospital.. Let me start by saying the Maternity/Labor and delivery literally TWO SEPARATE ENTITIES!! Every single person I encountered on the 5th floor was awesome! My assigned nurse Jeannette was one of the most caring, genuine, down to earth and knowledgeable nurses I've ever encountered in my 32 years.. She really has a passion for what shes doing and it SHOWS! I although I didn't give birth here today due to false labor.. Because of Jeannette, I left feeling so confident and well taken care of!! He is the reason I'm editing this post and adding more stars . We need more Toms The ER expirerencs is horrible ! Do better ! Don't embarrass Hialeah . It's clear you have so many patients in the ER on a daily basis that the halls are flooded with beds , some third world country stuff . Expand your ER!! I've come to this hospital a fair amount of times for work and I can't say it's my favorite. I have dealt with different departments and floors and each experience was different (good and bad). I had a wonderful experience in the NICU and labor department. Esther M (Assistant director of Maternal Child Services) and Luis F (Director of Maternal Child Services), including all the nurses in the NICU, and both Dr Victor Cantero and Dr Francisco Tudela were incredibly helpful and were attentive to the needs of the patient and were quick to respond with a DCF case I had to open among other things. Dr Rossana Lopez in the behavioral health department is also a great doctor. Super down to earth, easy to reach, and willing to attend to any needs the patient may need. The staff and social workers are incredibly attentive as well. The one department that I have had constant issues with is the case management department. I am not blaming the staff as I don't know the training and requirement they need to go through, but it definitely felt as though the work of finding placement was pushed towards me and the patient ended up being in the hospital for more than 3 months. Things that they should have known, like long term care applications, or contacting social workers at facilities shouldn't be that hard. Overall, the hospital has always been clean and staff have been attentive in the areas I have been in. I understand the amount of work nurses have to do so I'm not the person to demand for care but in other areas, I have waited up to an hour for staff to show up to the room or get help. read more

The worst customer service ever. I regret not getting anyones name. My husband severed his finger, it was nonstop bleeding and hanging down. We went to Hialeah Hospital ER as it was the nearest ER. The initial registration agent thought it was a joke. She gave me a clipboard, didn't specify what we paperwork we had to fill out. Had no sense or urgency. Triage was done after 10minutes of us arriving. She didnt even have scissors to cut the gauze while she was doing triage. My husband had to use his teeth. At this point we went inside. Two different nurses attended us. Both not prioritizing their time between their patients. They stood in front of us talking about other patients and paperwork until finally acknowledging why we were there. We waited 20minutes until the doctor arrived. The doctor saw the finger, moved it back and forth, and then stated "this isnt a life or death situation. You need a specialist and we do not have one here. I will go get some gauze for you, we can stitch you up, and you can go see the hand specialist on monday" the doctor then disappears. At this point i am calling other ERs looking for specialists, while my husbands finger is left open, uncovered, completely exposed, sitting in a pool of blood. 10 minutes pass and no one brought any gauze or update. I then see 4 nurses, including the two that were suppose to be assisting us, right outside our room talking and laughing and having a great time. I approach the nurse and state we need gauze to wrap my husbands finger because we were leaving. She then points her finger at me and says "you need to wait" WHAT. No. I replied "no, what i need is gauze so we can Leave because we no longer want to be here wasting time. We are going elsewhere" Thennn is when they magically found the gauze in 30 seconds, wrapped my husbands finger and didnt even have the decency of letting us know which was is the exit. Oh and lets not forget to mention how the same registration girl showed up to watch and laugh at how we were "acting" It was the worst customer service and care i have ever experienced. I work in the field and know how to prioritize my guests and their needs, regardless if i have 1 person or 10. All the people we interacted with made us feel dramatic and insignificant with our emergency. Its not "life or death" doctor because it is not YOUR finger. Sorry I didnt want to wait for your staff to finish their personal conversations while my husbands finger was in a pool of blood. The best part is I am sure they are going to charge the insurance, and try to charge us for this fiasco. And lastly, we received the service we needed in another hospital that ran xrays, and determined it was an emergency surgery which required immediate attention. This is by far the worst hospital in South Florida. The rudest and most inattentive staff ever. They couldn't care less about the comfort or well being of patients. It feels like you're in a third world country. If you're In anything but critical condition and in the Hialeah area, I would take my chances driving to ANY other hospital...! read more

They've got a big sign that says "rated top 10% maternity center in the nation." Please, please do not pay attention to that. Brace yourself. These stories are ugly. 20 years ago a family member died during childbirth due to the negligence of not one, but several doctors. The main doctor couldn't even remember my family member's name. Surprising being that she was the most critical person there at the moment. Then he waited for the situation to get much worse for him to take any action. The baby was taken out late and was born severely retarded. Then the anesthesiologist made a mistake that cost the mother's life. Granted that was two decades ago...But this year my grandfather was near death and was rushed to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, Hialeah was the nearest hospital. Guess who the doctor is? The same guy! And as clueless as he was 20 years ago! Didn't know what to do, would juggle around a lot. Asking the same question 50 times. Just plane insane. Thank goodness they transferred my grandfather to another doctor and thankfully a good one. The doctors aren't the only thing to be afraid of. Everything in there is in horrible condition. I think they have things there from the stone age. Sonogram machines from the '70s, computers from the early 90s. The paint job is depressing. It's like an insane asylum, or scene from Nightmare on elm street where Freddy Crougar just claws the walls. There are unsightly stains all over the floor. Just plain horrible. Terrible. read more
