This place is always trying to sale you their tick and flee products. I told the nurse Jackie that I use a natural spray for my dogs and she says no don't use that it not good for them. So I told her I'm not going to put that flee and tick poison on my doggies. They also want to get money for blood test. Everything is a blood test OMG!!! For a simple diarrhea!! the most intelligent caring loving vet I have ever met. Family vibes and very clean facility.

Prior to my last visit, my review would have been positive, because other then them being a bit expensive, I had never had an issue with my visits. However, when I had a crisis and an actual medical emergency (not a regular visit) I saw the worst practices this clinic had to offer. My dog was attacked by another dog. She was moaning in pain. She couldn't move her mouth. Dr. Palm examined her and held her for observation for a few hours. His diagnosis was that her lip was split open, but he couldn't give her stitches because it was going to "always be wet" since it was on the inner lip. He kept her for observation, hours later concluded she would feel lousy and achy due to the fight, but just sent her home with pain meds (which he said he didn't administer there.) He said there was nothing else to be done. She'd be ok in the next day or two. For the next several hours my dog moaned and was physically in pain. She seem to be in and out of consouisness. Which I couldn't understand since he said he didn't give her any pain meds. Everytime I tried to feed her or give her water she just yelped in pain. I called the office back. I was told the Vet I saw had an emergency (apparently his own animal was lost) and he was unavailable to see my dog again. I understood that. What I didn't understand was the the other vet in the office was " too busy" to see my dog. Even though I was there hours before, given no real remedy and spent over $4oo, he couldn't squeeze her in. I was told there was nothing they could do for me. I had to go to another vet at that point. The vet later called to check on my dog. I told him the issue, but nothing changed. I was out of luck and on my own. After another hour, I found another vet and took her there. I learned there she had a broken jaw and needed surgery!!!! How was it possible my dog was seen, examined by Dr. Palm and kept for observation and at no point he noticed her jaw was broken?! Even without an X-Ray it was obvious something was terribly wrong. To top it off, he never even gave her pain meds. She just winced in pain for hours. I called twice to let him know of this issue. I have yet to get a response. I now warn others. read more

If I could give Dr. Palm a no star review I would.We have been taking Sophie ,our beloved Shih Tzu who was only 2 years old to this animal clinic. I never saw Dr. Palm except the medical reports. He kept asking for tests and more tests and more money. We spent over $4500 in getting a diagnosis for our little dog. The dog kept loosing weight and there was no diagnosis as to the weight loss. Sophie was pooping blood and loosing appetite. I just happened to download an article from the internet stating that dogs that poop blood in their stool is diagnose as cancer.Dr. Palm could not figure it out.We took Sophie to Dr Palm because he is a licensed veterinarian and should be capable of diagnosing the health problem with the animals.I am not a vet, but I have a doctorate degree, so I am well educated person. Dr. Palm could not figure out why my dog was loosing weight and pooping blood.Finally we took Sophie to another consultation and they referred Sophie to Blue Pearl who is an emergency clinic. They gave us an appointment for February 5, but that was already too late. So, we took her to another emergency clinic, but when we took her there Sophie died in my arms. You can see a picture of Sophie when she died on my arms posted on Hiawassee website. I filed a complaint with the State of Florida Veterinary Board and they are sending the documentation to the legal counsel in Tallahassee. Therefore, I do not recommend Hiawassee Animal Clinic to anyone if they want their dog killed. I disagree with people giving this clinic a five star. read more

Highly recommended! I have been going to see Dr. Palm and team since 2004 when my now two 16 1/2 year old cats, Ariel and Sebastian, were just kittens. He has always treated them both with the utmost care as if they were his own. Some of their illnesses were not that easily diagnosed, and Dr. Palm has always been 100% honest with me about why he chooses the treatment plan that he does. More recently I've also seen Dr. Alonzo and he is also great! I also like the fact that the office has separate cat and dog entrances, to help minimize the anxiety of being in a strange place. When Sebastian had a large bone tumor on his upper right front leg, it was determined after running tests that amputation was the only viable option. After the amputation, the same day he jumped on my bed, happy as ever! Three years later he is still my little "tri-pawed" kitty! When either Ariel or Sebastian has been treated by the staff at HVC it's nice to get a phone call over the next few days checking to see how he or she is faring, which lets me know they really care. In 2016 I moved from West Orlando/Ocoee to DT Orlando and have numerous other choices of vets that are closer, but not once have I considered entrusting the care and wellbeing of my cats to anyone else! If you are looking for a new vet, go see the team at Hiawassee Veterinary Clinic, you will be happy you did! read more

Dr Palm presents as caring but in retrospect, he saw an opportunity to become Dr Test for $$$. My 10 yr old lab presented weak with a hard lump in her flank. The cancer tumor was aggressive and she was in pain. He gave her a steroid shot because he claimed it could reduce the swelling. $1100 later, and waiting 4 days for biopsy results (if you pay the lab they can have results in 24-48 hours) the tumor was cancer. What adds more to his non empathetic care, after 5 days of suffering and pain meds that offered little relief, I called him to have her put to sleep, he was too busy. I have had dogs all my life, worked in a veterinary clinic when I was a teenager. I trusted this doctor. A year after losing my golden I have come to realize what this vet did -- and now reading about other stories of pet owners having had the same experience -- shame on you Dr Palm Shame on you. read more

This is the biggest mystery of 2021, WHERE IS MY DIABETIC dog my baby Pi Chihuahua mixed with pug when he only went into the Hiawassee Veterinary clinic on Thursday June 10th for an appointment at 08:30am, for a blood sugar test to see where his sugar was at and the tech who promise to take good care of him, they and she waited 20 min to let us know he ran away from an unfenced area at the back of their building to collect a urine test where she calmly walked in the room and said in her word he is gone, and later I had the police called and I have finally got a whole of the video where she walk calmly and then after he was really running she picked up a little power walk and ran to the office instead of him while running banging on the windows to alert the staff, her excuse was she did not have her phone well Pi does not have one too if she thought she would of called him, but she did call someone that was on the way to work on the 408 ramp maybe, it was Dr Palm maybe I keep saying maybe because I have no real answer from them nor have they gaven us the truth about the event. Well I forgot to add the office manager called on the next Tuesday and said he may have died under a Bush somewhere and someone was nice enough to bury him well WHICH BUSH WHERE ? He was an emotional support to my mom after her husband passed on December 9th 2020 but mind you ,One eyewitness said he saw him going down the 408 west ramp going east, another said they saw him a little lower down the facility on the ground as if dead or passed out and a tech with a green toy over him and some others and put him in a white SUV , so I wonder who has or found my little man after the phone call to Dr Palm, from the tech that lost him. Yes this is the real and true story but how did this event really took place I guess we will never really know but in my guessing I think they have killed my dog the minute she did not go after him. So now my point is is if the vet was a Real doctor for a child would she have run after the child ? DR PALM said she did not wrong and find no reason to fire her, what do you think, if this was not a animal and a human would this be acceptable ? I wanted to bring awareness to this outstanding veterinarian, tech and front office staff. My two mixed breed pups have been seeing Dr. Palm for years but i have a 14 year old with special needs. My 14 year old chihuahua mix - 17 pounds - has a rare disease - Addisons and Dr. Palm diagnosed him and saved his life. My dog requires monthly injections to withstand stress as his body does not produce the hormone needed. Bottom line is i regularly bring my animals in and the staff just treats them so well and accommodates our needs. This vet office is my favorite. I took my vet hating cat and rabbit here. The whole staff is professional,Polite and Informative. The Vet & Tech handled my Sassy cat with kindness although she was trying to kill him through the pet carrier. She had to have a tube put in, so the Vet took her to another room. To my disbelief I didn't hear my cat scream bloody murder at all. I don't know what they did or if they have sound proof walls but I appreciate whatever it was. I waited in the exam room for only 45 minutes, it was all done. Also had my rabbit neutered here which was a breeze too. I have been going to Dr. Palm for at least 20 years and I've always found him to be a caring and compassionate vet. The staff is helpful and friendly and very gentle with my dogs. They always try to fit me in if I have an urgent need and that has come up numerous times since I adopt senior dogs. How do I start this review when I'm lost for words... Hiawassee Veterinary Clinic was referred to me by a friend of mine. My baby girl was old and got very sick and I was looking for a place that I can take her to, to relieve her of the pain she was in.. She was over 12 years old and suffered a stroke and multiple seizures back to back. I didn't want her to leave me but I knew it was best. I called them and they were amazing right from the start. They were so genuine and kind knowing the pain I was in making this call. I made the appointment to bring my babygirl in but she passed away right next to me on my birthday instead. I was so lost. I called them and told them what happened. And after that everything was a blur. 2 weeks or so later. (Today) I received a sympathy card from them. Each person wrote something. That by far is what left me lost for words. They didn't know me or my baby girl Mona but still sent a card. I thank them immensely for the kind words and will never forget that. They have helped us with our diabetic cat when he was having issues, our dog when she was having skin allergies and just recently one of our kitties was made sick by the pest control company here at our apartment complex (that's an entirely different review and believe me it will not be as nice as this one). Dr. Palm and his staff are wonderful. Once I walked to the front desk, I was greeted and was escorted to one of the patient rooms immediately. That was great because hate to say it but I'm used to waiting atleast a half hour to get seen at other vet offices. Dr. Palm came in and listened to everything that's going on and all my concerns.
