The family and I stopped in here for a quick bite. The hibachi cook messed up all 3 orders. Our server never checked on us. We never received a refill. When I did locate a server, he waved me off. I went to express my concerns to the "manager", only to find out he was not the manager. I asked if he could call the manager and inform them we would like a refund. Service was bad never came and refilled our drinks. The steak was dried out. The noodles were overcooked and was like a big pile of mush. What did taste good was cold. What was hot tasted bad ..... The hibachi tasted like they clean the grill with Dawn or something and left the food with a bad taste. This place is not exactly cheap so why would anybody want to go back. Absolutely the Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten...or tried to eat. Most items were over cooked, others plain dried out husks of what once was....in other words Plain unadulterated crap! Tried some of everything ..what was edible was cold...if it was hot it was dried up or greasy as hell. Why would you put crap out and expect people to come back and pay good money for it??? Hibachi was completely tasteless, 'sushi' bar consisted of 2 pans on cream cheese and imitation crab rolls, one deep fried, one not, all other selections were mediocre at best. My wife and I ate here on 3/3/2016. We were starving and took it as a recommendation. My wife began throwing up approximately 6 hours later. I felt sick all night, and began throwing up this morning. I have been throwing up all day, and have had the runs as well. I ate two cups of the egg drop soup, sushi, beef/shrimp Hibachi, stir fried mushrooms, and fried dumplings. My wife had lo mien, one piece of sushi, the sweet and sour soup, some of my Hibachi, mushrooms, and dumplings. The sushi must have been dyed because it left a pink color on the rice. Wanted to give this a try but needed to wait for the crowd to subside due to it being a new place to eat in New Bern. Finally got around to going and first issue I had was size of parking spaces. It was parking made for all compact cars. If you have a truck or full size SUV, you will get dinged. Walked in and it was very nice. The decor was something new to the area and very pleasing to look at. Had to Pre-Pay before you eat so that was no different than a Golden Corral style place. Got seated quickly and the staff was attentive with filling drinks. Now the food...Oh My! If there is something specific you like and they happen to do that well, you are in luck. If you are like me and like to try new things, be ready as you are going to go through napkins with food you could not bring yourself to swallow. Some things are right out of the box from your nearest walmart frozen food Isle. You would have been better off taking a trip to the food court at Harris Teater. Can I say all of it was bad, no..I did like the fruit they had along with the sweat tea. Spring Rolls were less than ideal, they had some sort of perfectly round scallop that was breaded and hard as a brick. There was a General Tso's Chicken that was not like any other I've had but was tasty so that was a plus and the reason they got the star. Our favorite Chinese buffet closed after a fire and so we were anxious to try Hibachi Buffet. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Making a comparison to similar restaurants we have experienced in other cities I would put this one at the bottom of the list. The dishes are mediocre at best. I'm not expecting gourmet food, just a reasonable quality. Not much of sushi assortment in my opinion. We didn't try the Hibachi station which might provide a more appealing choice. Senior lunch with discount coupon exceeded $18 which is more than similar buffets. I hate to pan a newly opened restaurant and so if you try Hibachi Buffet and you enjoy it please update Yelp. This is the only hibachi place in New Bern. The food here is decent. They have a good amount of selections, but if you came from the city it won't be that great compared to it. However I give credit for this place having hibachi, small selection of sushi and sushi rolls, and dessert section. The ice cream selection isn't so amazing. They have it in a small container like what they serve in school or air force chow halls. It's not like you can scoop your own ice cream. I'll tell you what though. You don't need to pay a lot. Me and my family went in yesterday and while everyone was friendly and things looked clean when I got my food(chicken & Broccoli) there was a big sharp piece of what I'm guessing was some sort of shell for a clam.
