UPDATE: My faith is completely restored in this company. Got a call back from Jessica one of the managers who spoke to the GM. She listened and was compassionate and Hibatchi Catering did everything they could to make everything right. When a company does this, they are completely worthy. Thank you! Words can't express how disappointed I am with Hibatchi Catering. Junior one of the cooks showed up high as a kite. I can roll with that, but it obviously effected what happened. Starting out, the seats were so close together that you were practically sitting on the person next to you. They served the salad dry. Three people who ordered Miso soup didn't get any at all (I paid $6/person for soup/salad) and they didn't have enough spoons. Junior cooked the filet and the other steaks and chopped them all up together. I paid for filet for 10 people and it was mixed with the other meat. Also he asked how we wanted our meat cooked everyone said either medium rare or rare and everyone got medium or more. 5 people didn't get the meat they ordered Junior said, "my bad." I got up and gave my meat to two of my guests. Junior was so high spilled everything, 1 guest got soy sauce flung on her white jacket from him and I got oil on my pants flung from him. One person didn't get the lobster they ordered and two didn't get shrimp. Mind you I pre-ordered everything, I even made place cards with what each person ordered to make it easy for them and even after I pointed it out he kept asking people what they ordered. There was no fire show except to light the onion. Even Junior's partner looked embarrassed. Almost $2300 for 9 people to not get half of their meal is shameful. I am beyond embarrassed, lucky my friends are good company and good sports. I am a usually a massive tipper, but not in this instance, I gave them $340 tip but he deserved nothing. The food and service was excellent which is why I decided to reach out to them again for my daughter's 1st birthday party. We went with the buffet style for 30 people since we had about 50 guests (we also had other food catered as well from other vendors). The team at Hibachi were very responsive and attentive to every question I had. The servers arrived early which was okay but immediately seemed to be rushing. They asked us if they could start immediately at 4:30 which was fine because I asked all of our guest to be on time. The experience in itself was very underwhelming. We had no show, no interactions, no engagement. It felt like they rushed through the cooking process and finished in maybe an hour or a little less. They said they had another event to go to and left. They were suppose to pick up the tables and everything in "2 hours". They left food and trash out in the open which we don't do because of flies and insects. Anyways, hours went by and they ended up picking everything up super late almost at midnight so we had to stay up waiting for them. The highlight of our booking was definitely the fire show which is a 3rd party vendor. He deserves a 5 star for making our experience somewhat positive. Unfortunately I wouldn't book again. It was so easy and relaxing for me, they did the entire set up, clean up, tables, utensils plates etc. we just supplied the wine glasses. The food was delicious, the chef was entertaining and all our guests loved it. Initially I had thought I needed them to come early, but Due to holiday traffic they arrived a little late (they were great about calling and letting me know) and ended up setting up when my guests were already here. Honestly, I was nervous to completely depend on any company to come out to set up and cook for us as this is the first time I ever planned a big event. But I am extremely happy that I chose Hibachi Catering for my wedding reception dinner. Awesome night, thanks to Hibachi Catering! The planning was quick and efficient via email, HC is very responsive and attentive to your needs. We did not tell our guests what we had planned. They were intrigued as they walked up the driveway and saw the team setting up just outside the front door. They were blown away when we emerged from the house and they fully understood the treat they were about to partake in. The HC team was polite, professional, efficient, and hilarious. The "show" was delightful, and included some pranks I had not see in any restaurant previously. They kept our guests (and us) engaged and involved the entire time. They still use real fire (which at least one chain doesn't) which makes a huge difference for a volcano or tornado, or just a way to get the attention of the crowd! As if that weren't enough, the food was fantastic. Seasoned just right...not too much, not too little, and cooked to perfection. And it kept coming...and coming.
