Well, I haven't been here since 2013. And to be honest cannot remember the quality back then. However, I ordered lumpia ( not good), which was just pork/beef and fried flavorless roll, no decent sauce to dip it either. The crab roll was supposed to have real crab, it was fake crab inside . This little hole in the wall is such a nice place!!! My boyfriend and I had a long night attending a highschool show and got out much later than we expected, none of us had eaten dinner. We looked for something to eat but not much was open. We walked into Hibachi Fusion about 15 minutes before closing. Now, we are a difficult family with picky eaters that often don't know what they want. Regardless, the staff was so inviting and super patient! I tried this place a few years ago. The food wasn't good. It didn't taste anything like hibachi. I decided to try them again. The customer service was good. I didn't enjoy the food. I ordered the steak plate with fried rice and vegetables. The steak didn't tasted like steak and it had some type of sweet sauce on it. I'm guessing teriyaki which didn't stated that in the description. The rice tasted like nothing. I tried using the white sauce but I only tasted mayo. The calamari came out piping hot, so crispy without that fishy taste that comes with bad quality seafood. Delicious and tangy dipped in that sauce. I got a steak hibachi and WOW. I've never had such tender, melt-in-your-mouth steak at a Hibachi restaurant before. Order this. It doesn't have the traditional hibachi flavor and was more like the beef in a Chinese beef and broccoli dish, but the cook on the meat was amazing. Plus unlimited white sauce! We got too many sushi rolls to name, but all were savory and delicious. The eel nigiri was especially yummy. For dessert, we got the banana fusion which was fried banana slices with two scoops of red bean ice cream. Bananas came out super hot and was so good with the ice cream. Trained at the new crunch Summerville location and decided to walk around the strip of stores and restaurants and came across this restaurant. It didn't look like a place I would expect to have a meal that was of great quality but decided to try it with my daughter several days later. The restaurant is located next to the movie theater. The server was a trainee and she was super nice and made the experience enjoyable even though she wasn't familiar with some of the questions, she asked and obtained answers for us. The calamari wasn't the best I've had but it wasn't bad either. The spicy sauce that came with it had a sweet flavor with a mean spicy punch. I ordered the spicy tuna and spicy avocado roll. My daughter orders the Philadelphia cream cheese roll and a tempura roll....we were both pleased with our sushi. For dessert I ordered the fusion cheesecake which is in a nutshell fried cheesecake....it was also very good and my daughter ordered the strawberry mochi ice cream. So COVID19 has screwed over SO MANY eateries in the Charleston area. This past Monday I arrived back in CHS from out of state. I had been at airports and on airplanes for the last 12 hours. Not one good bite of food had been noted the entire day. On the way home I remembered that Hibachi Fusion was on the way home. I had not eaten there in years. I decided I'd get food to go. We used to come here all the time and the food got so bad we stopped going ( chicken and shrimp) We decided to stop in for a late dinner with fingers crossed. We got the tempura which was pretty good. And both my husband and myself orders the 2 way combo. Both with chicken and shrimp. The shrimp was way over cooked. Very rubbery . The chicken was tasty but the cut on the meat itself was rough. The rice however was really good and cooked perfect . The last time we came we remembered the rice being chewy. I've never been in such an area where to-go hibachi places were so on the rise. We were surprised by this so we checked out Hibachi Fusion one afternoon for lunch. The food was average, I was happy to see bottles of "white" sauce (shrimp sauce) on the tables, out west they don't have that! We ordered and food was on our table within 10 minutes. Soda is served in bottles with no refills, which I found to be odd. Tea and Water in cups. I decided to try out the sushi as well, to see how it was. I figured I'd err on the safe side and get the shrimp tempura roll, it was lacking and the shrimp seemed dry. I don't think I'll be trying anymore sushi there. The hibachi was good if you need something fast and don't want to pay a lot like in a Japanese Restaurant. The service was good. The restaurant itself could use a deep clean, but I've found a lot of places around here could. We also ordered to-go the other evening and the food was made quickly and it was consistent with what they serve when dining in. The reviews were mixed, so I thought I would give it a shot. I wish I had not! On the positive side, the staff was super friendly and expedient. I ordered the chicken hibachi. The rice and the vegetables were good and very hot. The chicken was warm/ cool and overcooked so bad that the Yum Yum sauce couldn't even fix it. I'm almost positive the chicken had been sitting waiting for the next customer and they microwaved it and then put it on top of the vegetables. Hibachi fusion has the best hibachi in the Summerville area in my opinion. When you dine in they give you a lot of food and the sushi is pretty decent, but the best thing is the hibachi I usually always get shrimp with ginger sauce. I usually order the chicken bowl which is hibachi chicken and rice. I enjoy getting my serving of vegetables but I don't order the plate that includes vegetables because they are sub-par and skimpy so I suggest the same. The chicken for the most part is spot on but I did get rubbery texture chicken and it took a long time for me to go back to hibachi fusion again. Overall, there are better places in the area to get hibachi and sushi but if you are willing to take a risk for the price point, go for it. read more
