This is a cute little restaurant, with about 4 tables. I imagine most of their business is take out, as there were a bunch of orders while we were there. The service was friendly and attentive and the prices are very reasonable. We started with Fresh Basil rolls and two slightly different yet excellent Spring Rolls and Peanut Sauce that we both loved. The rolls were done extremely tight with a beautiful whole basil leaf in each, (see picture). I ordered and really enjoyed the Pad Kee Mow. Be forewarned, there are 5 level of heat for this dish, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot and Thai Hot. I love hot spicy food, but based on a previous review stuck with the middle level heat of regular Hot, and this was boarder line too spicy for me. The wife ordered Drunken Noodles with Thai Spaghetti. She really loved the flavor of the broth, but thought the dish would be so much better with wide noodles and not Thai Spaghetti. She thought the thinness of the sauce needed a large noodle to soak of the broth. Either that or the sauce itself needed to be a bit thicker. Meeting friends for Thai before Flowertown Theater. They have a small eat in area. Can accommodate maybe 15 tops. Busy to-go business. Saw lots of people picking up to-go orders. I tried one of the house specialties....pineapple fried rice with chicken. Delicious taste, large portion so I had enough for tomorrow's lunch. I would have liked a bit more pineapple but that's me. Small little Thai restaurant in the heart of DT Summerville. There is limited seating with only a few tables but we came later in the night and got a table right away. It looked like it's run by just a few people including the female owner. She was hustling between taking Togo orders, preparing them then making her way over to us. She handed us these "drink menus and special menus" that were tucked into a pencil bag which I thought was very interesting. I found it a bit tacky but we rolled with it. Pad see ew 5/5- big portion, noodles were nicely coated with sauce, good flavors and nice textures on the veggies and noodles. Tom Yum soup 3/5- for me it just didn't have that depth of sour and sweet for me that I enjoy in this type of soup. It had a nice flavor but I added some more citrus and spice to it. Duck curry 4/5- broth was more loose but the flavors were nice. Duck was cooked well as well as all the veggies. I also thought this just needed a touch of citrus to balance out the other flavors. Mango sticky rice 5/5 - mangos perfectly ripe, sticky rice was moist and chewy. Perfect end to our meal. The owner was very nice and checked on us often to make sure everything was good. I order Thai ice tea with no ice and Chicken Pad Thai. The Thai Ice tea I order with no ice so they filled up the cup only 2/3 the way. $4.50 and not worth the price. You can't be that cheap and just short the cup! Fresh Basil Rolls with chicken - more like Vietnamese spring roll. There was no basil at all and lots of lettuce some carrot and two quarter size hard pieces of chicken and was very chewy. The peanut sauce was not that good as well. You get 2 of them but not worth $11.00 The Chicken Pad Thai had several slivers of chicken, 4 pieces of bean sprouts, a few pieces of scallion. The noodles are over cooked and no taste of Tamarind in the dish. Missing Scallions, Bean Sprouts, cilantro and a friend order one with no protein and we compared and they both had a different color to them. The portion is small in the container for $16.00 kinda a price for sliver chicken and noodles. I have made this dish maybe 60-80 times so I know what's in it. Not coming back. read more

I did taste it, but after finding the hair, I stopped eating. We ordered the basil rolls, which were super fresh. My sister and mom both got the pad Thai mild. My daughter ordered the Pad see eu and I got the pad kee mow. I requested mine spicy and it was mild, so I decided to stir in some chili sauce. As I was stirring it in, my daughter noticed the hair and pointed it out. We pulled it out from the dish and put it on a small plate. I was done. I didn't want to cause a scene and knew I probably wouldn't eat a remake, so I just let it go. I don't know that I would go back. I like holes in the wall but the flavors weren't quite there for a Pad Thai and the Red Curry Chicken, on this last one maybe just too much coconut milk. We have been to Thailand a few times and of course to many, many restaurants in the US, we will give it another try and don't really want to give 3 stars so I don't hurt their business if they were off for one day. Quick lunch with a friend, right at opening, 11am. This place might not look like a ton from the outside, but goodness. It packs a punch! First, the service is outstanding. Granted, we were the only table in there starting off, but they kept our glasses full and food coming out quickly. Second, the food. I wanted so badly for Pad Thai 1 to be my go-to Thai restaurant. But as you can guess from the one star, dear reader, it will not be my go to Thai restaurant. I ordered a Tom Ka Gai, and Pad See Eu "Thai spicy". Neither of them had any spice at all. I was in a hurry so I ordered my food takeout, which meant that once I got it home it could not be altered by the restaurant's kitchen. So a word of advice to the restaurant: When someone orders something for take-out it needs to be exactly right, because when they get home they will be heartbreakingly sad; as I am now. The Tom Ka Gai soup is supposed to be a creamy, coconut milk infused, chicken hot and sour soup containing; lime juice, kafir lime leaves, thin slices of galangal ginger, lemon grass, and Thai chilies. my soup was a chicken broth-based and coconut milk mixture, containing chicken and cabbage- with a few sad, wizened up mushrooms thrown in for good measure. It was neither hot nor was it sour. It got thrown away. The Pad See Eu (which I ordered Thai spicy as I mentioned above) was just a sad mass of noodles with a few vegetables and some greasy fried tofu thrown in. It honestly had no flavor at all. I think it was more Pad See "EW!": It has been thrown away as well. I am very sad, because I wanted to love this place, and it has so many good reviews that I was sure I'd be leaving a 5 star review too. I think people in Summerville are just way too impressed with ethnic cuisine, and don't really know the good from the bad. I read several reviews that said Pad Thai 1 was authentic Thai cuisine. I was on a 6 week chef exchange in Thailand, and Pad Thai 1 is about as authentically Thai as my lily white ass! I won't be back to Pad Thai 1... Gosh I'm hungry! read more

I love Thai but this was the worst I have ever had. The crab wonton contained no crab meat or avocado as listed on the menu description., the rice paper on the fresh basil rolls stuck together like glue, and the Pad thai tasted like they just poured a bottle of hot sauce on to flavor. Placed an online order at 6:00 for a pick time for 7:30. I showed up at the restaurant at 7:30, no customers in the restaurant dining by the way. The waitress said that the order was not ready. I checked back in 10 mins and she said it would be 30 mins, again with no one in the restaurant but people waiting for their pick up order. Her explanation was the online ordering system just sent them the order at 7:30. What is the purpose of ordering ahead of time? I asked to cancel my order and get a refund, and she said that she cannot do that, I would need to contact Shift4. What?! No apologies or accommodations offered. Worst service ever. Used to be great. Now it's awful. I really wish they would bring back their old recipes. We always get the same thing, and we noticed at one point, they didn't taste as good. I even asked them if they changed recipes and they said that the chef had moved. Just had the worst food at Pad Thai. I believe the google reviews are fake. It is a hole in the wall downtown Summerville--which is attractive because usually the quaint places have good food. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The food was tasteless and the prices are cost prohibitive. $15 for a small fried rice entree they call "dinner size" and the food tastes like grease. I called to ask to be refunded for the meal and the receptionist said, "we gave you what you ordered!" As if, I knew the food would be terrible. Just brought home two terribly disappointing dishes -- an eggplant dish that had only a few tiny bite-sized pieces of eggplant while being ridiculously overloaded with tofu, and a Pad Thai that was bland and uninteresting.
