Came here looking for a sushi meal, and was surprised that it was all you can eat. Which is awesome if you eat a lot! I don't, but that's fine. Sushi was good, everything was a touch in the small side, but with all you can eat that isn't a big deal. Service was friendly and fast. Other than being AYCE nothing really jumped off the page here but it was fine and fairly priced. J.Ja

There's a term in the popular vernacular nowadays called "mid." In this review I'll give facts to help bolster the understanding of the term but I got a feeling most won't need it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located in a safe although sometimes difficult area to access (depending on the time of day), Kings Sushi is an extremely clean and safe restaurant to enjoy some Asian favorites.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While the focus is on sushi, they do have other items like Habachi in case that scratch needs to be itched. For me I like the fire and knife twirling theatrics in front of me so I'll be abstaining from trying anything other than sushi and appetizers. First up are the fried spring rolls which I love so forgive my irritation when I got two Energizer battery sized rolls as I was expecting something more substantial. The flavors were average but fried perfectly however I felt like I had a fast one pulled on me so I was a little angry. As for the shrimp "tempura" skip this b/c it wasn't tempura at all but dinky, unflavored fried shrimp. I'm never happy when a restaurant takes a short cut and rather than making the proper tempura batter (ice cold and smooth) but deep fries the ingredients. Finally, the seaweed salad was another let down. The texture was on the money but it had an abundance of what I would describe as "sugar water" with little punch of rice wine vinegar and literally zero sesame oil. They completely missed the balance. Let's get to the star of the show, shall we? First up, the palate cleanser ie ginger was missing for my three rolls, which I like to eat between switching rolls to clean the mouth so new flavors can be fully experienced. I'm starting to get the feeling the attention to detail is sorely missing here, thus "mid." My first roll was the rainbow roll. From my experience as a former chef who's lived across America there's some wiggle room for the toppings. The requirement is a California roll that's topped with tuna, avocado and salmon but the last ingredient is most traditionally white fish, but then I've had shrimp, eel or whatever. Kings Sushi make theirs with tilapia and considering I hate this "semi-bottom" feeding fish therefore I wrote on the website "please substitute tilapia with white fish as I hate it." Considering they have white fish on the menu I thought it wouldn't be an issue. Well, what I got was a Rainbow roll of only tuna, salmon and avocado. This wasn't what I asked for but acceptable I suppose. Next up was the queen roll which honestly was pretty much the same as the rainbow roll but without the tuna. The rice was perfectly cooked and what I do like from their rolls is the Kani (krab) is shredded not whole. This is a very nice touch and makes for a much smoother experience. As for the fish it was as fresh as could be expected so I enjoyed the experience. My final sampling was the Hawaii roll which I wanted to try to mix things up a bit. Again, the tempura was subpar but the mango added a nice tropical sweetness that I really enjoyed. There's nothing spicy about the crab but the chefs special sauce was a nice compliment. I don't like spicy food but a little more kick would have played perfectly off the mango. To be perfectly honest the saving grace was the mango otherwise it would have been extremely boring. Kings Sushi has a very nice staff and they take care of their customers. However, I feel there's a lack of attention to detail or cutting corners. One of my biggest take-aways is the portion sizes are pretty small for the price. For comparison if one and a half rolls fill you up those equals about 3 here. The pics can speak for themselves. Now, would I go back? I review a LOT of places so there needs to be something that stands out to bring me back. Sadly, the term "mid" describes Kings Sushi thus I won't be back for a repeat performance.

My favorite place! $28 all you can eat sushi, hibachi, and other good dishes. Unique way to order, food comes out pretty fast and looks pretty. Never had something undercooked/overcooked. Go every year for me and my wife's birthday. She doesn't love sushi but loves hibachi and the cucumber salad! My favorite sushi is the crazy monkey roll, sounds like an odd pairing but it WORKS!!

Sushi, sushi, and more sushi! The fried banana roll sounds crazy but it's one on my faves!

I Have been to King Sushi several times and it is always fresh and delicious! All the food comes out very quickly. The staff is always kind and available for you to put in another order of whatever you like. This is not a buffet... but better! Upon being seated, you fill out a paper to pick any appetizers you want, sushi, hibachi or teriyaki. Once that is served and devoured, you can fill out another paper for more food if you wish. The price is very reasonable, especially for weekday lunch. They ask that your first order be what you know you can eat, and if you wish to order more, that is fine. Just like most places, food waste is not good here! And you may even be charged extra if you leave too much waste! But don't fret, with everything coming out hot, or cold if you love sushi, you will want to devour everything you order!

The hibachi steak comes with the best flaky rice I have ever eaten. I ordered 3 sushi rolls and my friend ordered a couple plus hibachi . He is going through chemotherapy so he can't control his appetite. I explained the situation to the manager and I was happy we weren't charged extra for him not being able to eat everything Food is amazing especially Hollywood roll

I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. So rich and full of Umami Ribeye We finished the meal off with a plate of Beef Yaki-Udon. The depth of flavor was incredible and again the Umami took center stage. Interesting fact: They have been at this location for 31 years opening first as an Italian restaurant! Myles has been in Charleston for 40 years and is an icon in the Food and Bev industry. She was most recently recognized by Congress for her impact on the Charleston food scene. We were greeted with a smile and left with a hug. Definitely coming back.

I love their hibachi, and this was a VERY good deal for the amount of food you get. I ordered the lunch vegetable hibachi with a side of filet mignon. The meat was cooked really well, and the portion sizes were decent, especially for a lunch order. Flavor-wise, everything was solid. My first issue was that there's no way to add notes or remove ingredients when ordering through DoorDash. I'm not a big bacon fan, and their fried rice has bacon pieces in it, but I had no way to request no bacon. That was frustrating, especially since it's a pretty common customization. My second issue is more of a personal pet peeve: I hate when restaurants charge extra for sauces. If you're already spending money on the food, sauces (within reason) should be included. I'm very much a sauce person, and one tiny little container just doesn't cut it for me. I know it's only cents, but it still bothers me. What made it worse is that I paid for extra sauce and didn't even get it. I'm not totally sure where the responsibility falls--DoorDash vs. the restaurant--but I'd assume it's on the restaurant to double-check the bag before it goes out. I know people make mistakes, and maybe I'm venting over something small, but when it's already a pet peeve of mine, it's extra annoying. That said, the food itself was good and a great value--I'd just love to see better customization options and more consistency with paid add-ons.

From a service standpoint, there's really nothing to complain about. The food, however, was just okay. The hibachi-style entrée was generously portioned with rice, vegetables, and protein, but the flavors were pretty mild and didn't really pop. The sushi rolls were fresh and nicely presented, but they tasted fairly standard and weren't very memorable. I also tried the calamari rings and, while they were crispy, I wasn't a big fan of the overall flavor and seasoning. Overall, Yokoso is a decent option if you're looking for good service and solid portions, but the food itself felt average. I wouldn't say it's bad--just not a place I'd go out of my way for.

The service was friendly and attentive and the prices are very reasonable. We started with Fresh Basil rolls and two slightly different yet excellent Spring Rolls and Peanut Sauce that we both loved. The rolls were done extremely tight with a beautiful whole basil leaf in each, (see picture). I ordered and really enjoyed the Pad Kee Mow. Be forewarned, there are 5 level of heat for this dish, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot and Thai Hot. I love hot spicy food, but based on a previous review stuck with the middle level heat of regular Hot, and this was boarder line too spicy for me. The wife ordered Drunken Noodles with Thai Spaghetti. She really loved the flavor of the broth, but thought the dish would be so much better with wide noodles and not Thai Spaghetti. She thought the thinness of the sauce needed a large noodle to soak of the broth. Either that or the sauce itself needed to be a bit thicker. Over all a very good meal that we look forward in sharing with the daughter on our next visit.

For dessert we shared a key lime pie semifreddo which was so pretty I almost felt bad for eating it. It was topped with a graham cracker crumble and both raspberry and lime curds.
