Just because someone has a lick of color to their skin doesn't mean they are trying to steal. He was super nice and sweet to white people (telling them "have a good one!" with a smile on his face but when it came to taking care of us he was quick to say "and who's paying?" If you're going to have a business around people of color at least respect your customers.
