Showed up for an 20 pound LP tank refill. No staff were on site to accommodate the fill. I could leave the tank and pick up later. That was not an option for me. They did suggest some other locations nearby that I could use. I did but was not thrilled with them either. Anyway, I like doing a refill rather than an exchange at a kiosk because I get the full 20 pounds of gas on a refill. The kiosks show they only provide 15 pounds. So, I'll be looking for a different provider. I know they are out there. read more

Mike from Belvidere Hicksgas came out and determined where leak was and then did what was required to fix it including some hand digging. He stayed until everything was repaired, triple tested and tight. read more

Our furnace went out Sunday morning couldn't get a serv. Tec in til Monday and was 3 above zero. HICKS in Belvidere was kind enough to allow us to come in and fil our 20 and 40 gallon tanks that evening. They went out of their way. GREAT PEOPLE..... read more

Planned to switch propane companies from Blackhawk to Hicksgas, last year. Mark came out and surveyed my property, and spoke to me about the introductory rate (99 cents/gal) for propane. I confirmed that I'd like to switch based on the price / introductory rate. This was late August of last year. By mid October of last year I had called about six times and inquired when the propane tank would be delivered to my house. Mark usually had an excuse as to why he hadn't gotten around to processing my request, yet - but was always quick to assure me I was next on his list. Mark stopped returning my calls and I never received the propane or was able to start an account with Hicksgas. Based on my plan to be a Hicksgas customer, I did not 'pre-buy' from Blackhawk, and ended up paying extra last year for propane. I live out in the woods on acreage and Mark had mentioned that I was missing a sticker from my current propane tank from Blackhawk. He said that if we went with propane from Hicksgas the sticker would have to remain on the tank for advertising purposes. He probably realized on the drive home that the advertising value of a propane tank sitting out in the woods with zero neighbors in sight was nil - and decided it wasn't worth the hassle to bring a tank out here. If he would have simply been honest with me and told me so, that would have been fine. But he continued to make me believe he was working on getting me set up with an account and a new propane tank - and it never happened, and finally lead to him simply ignoring me and my phone calls. This is poor business practice, and is the reason for this 1-star review. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

This company just took a payment out of my account WITHOUT me authorizing it. BAD BUSINESS

We have been Hicksgas customers for years, for our home and our business. Have always received great service...fast and friendly. Have helped us out of tight spots several times...after a tornado destroyed our buildings, also when we have run short of propane on a weekend, and when we cut an underground line when landscaping.
